Why does the Xbox One version of Final Fantasy XV look last gen?

Hey guys, I picked up Final Fantasy XV on Xbox One when it first launched and put around 50 hours into it. I kept complaining to one of my friends about how bad the game looks. He had it on PS4 and reckons it is one of the best looking games on it. I thought he must be crazy. I know the PS4 version is the better version according to reviewers but it couldn't be THAT different, could it?

In my loungeroom I have a 4k HDR TV. I have an Xbox One S and a PS4 Pro that I mainly upgraded to for PSVR. I finally thought stuff it, I'll pick up FFXV on PS4 to compare the difference. It's night and day. I know the pro version is 1800p whereas the Xbox version isn't even 1080p but the Xbox version would look aweful even if it was on Xbox 360. It has to be less than 720p. DVD quality is better than the Xbox version. My friend with a PS4 also upgraded to a pro but reckons the OG PS4 version still looked amazing even compared to on the Pro. I still have an OG PS4, maybe I should try it on that just to see for myself.

I'm certainly not a fanboy of either console but I'm genuinely curious why there is such a difference between the two versions? I am a person that never really notices the difference usually. I can say with all honesty that no other game looks much better or worse on either usually. The console specs aren't that far apart. Surely this game could have been better optimised for Xbox? I mean I have played many awesome looking Xbox games yet this one doesn't even pass as last gen in my opinion.

I really don't want to start a console war but I thought I was going crazy hearing how good this game looks when I'm sitting in front of my TV with the Xbox version thinking my eyes must be giving out. This thing is a blurry mess. If only there was a PC version to really see how good it could look.

Capture Devices

Hey all need some help in trying to find a gameplay capture setup for my Xbox one s (going to be x in November.) I've been using game dvr on the Xbox which has served its purpose so far but I'm wanting to start recording and editing more and more gameplay and the dvr app only records a max of 720p. I've got it running through my tv because the tv is 4K and the upscaling is nice. Is there a specific device and/or program or software that would record higher quality video? Or is there a way I can upscale it through a software? Very new to all this just wanna get the pros advice. Thanks in advance!

Inconsistent gamestream input lag (Xbone & PS4)

I'm able to stream my PS4 very well to my iPhone at 720p, but streamed to my gaming laptop, it has a half-a-second (sometimes more) input lag at the same resolution. The weird thing is: even if I go through an ethernet cable, the delay is unchanged. And it's not the controller to the laptop, cause I can play games that are rendered locally with no perceivable input lag with the same controller. I don't understand what's going on. The Xbox One's stream has slightly better input lag (still awful), but suffers from severe screen tearing. It's not always like this, however. A couple days earlier things were working flawlessly. It's just the luck of the draw if I want to stream my consoles to my laptop.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Help out a new guy (please :D)

Hey guys, so one sleepless night I decided to learn some basics for video editing and maybe create a gaming highlights video type of thing. So finally after 4 hours or so I finish the video and ezport it only to find out it is laggy when it plays. So I look arou d on the netz which tells me two things: 1) make sure the recorded video, editing format and export format are all on the same settings 2) render the video

I double check that XBox One records at 720p 30fps and I change the video and export format accordingly and then I go again online and supposedlg there should be a blue button for rendering the video in the viewer, but there is nothing there.

I still have the 1st laggy export, but I'd like it to be less eye-rapey. Any help would be much appreciated, thank ypu for reading.

Note: I use HITFILM EXPRESS 2017

Is Siege okay in 720p?

I'm on Xbox one, but want to get a better, smaller TV to play the game, to be able to use similar to a desktop. Is 720p 32" good enough for the game, or do I really need to upgrade to 1080p?

can I just jerk a little on how well the game is optimized?

R6S's minimum requirements stated on Steam are about 40 to 60% better than mine. I had played that game on my Xbox and I loved it but was sad that I couldn't run it. fast forward to yesterday. free weekend. "well shit I got this extra 35381mb on my system why not see how it runs?" AND GODDAMN! on all low settings with 1280x720 stretched to my screen it runs fucking wild! a solid 45 to 55 fps!!!!! when I bump up textures to medium I still hold a solid 37 to 50 fps. even with several huge explosions and multiple bum rushes into a crowd of 3 or 4.

HTPC not displaying through Receiver

I recently bought a Harmon Kardon AVR1510S for my home theater system to handle my HTPC, an Xbox One S, and an Apple TV. The HTPC I have is using a GTX 750 (I've also tried a GTX 660Ti SC, both cards are tested and working in normal environments) and is hooked to the AVR via a brand new HDMI cable (switched cables just in case).

The Apple TV and Xbox display just fine and sound quality is excellent, however when switched to the HTPC, the AVR does not play any sound or display anything on the TV. The TV does say that the receiver is connected, but that "there is no video signal".

I've attempted changing the framerate from 60Hz, to 59Hz, to 30Hz, to 29Hz, but none of these options regained a video signal. Changing the resolution from 4K to 1080p or even 720p did not work either. I also used DevCon to set a hotkey to reset the GPU in an attempt to regain any lost or invalid EDID in the HDMI connection, but this did not correct the issue. All of these options have been tried with the GTX 750 and the GTX 660ti with fully updated and even re-installed-from-scratch drivers without any results. The HTPC is running Windows 10 if that matters and I have even re-installed Windows in an attempt to correct the issue, but this did not modify the result.

I talked to a Harmon Kardon technician for a couple hours on the phone troubleshooting various things, but in the end the tech had to open a case and escalate the issue. I have not heard back in 4 days.

My laptop (GTX 960, updated drivers) is able to hook up to the same HDMI connection and successfully display through the AVR to the TV, but only after resetting the GPU with DevCon the same way I was attempting to on the HTPC, and only if the screen from the laptop is "mirrored"; "Extending" the display reverts to the same loss of signal as before.

I've attempted switching the input port on the receiver, as well as the output HDMI port (there are 2) on the graphics cards, but still no dice were had.

Has anyone here experienced a similar issue with HDMI connections through a receiver and/or know of any troubleshooting methods I've yet to try?

Why 60 fps hasn't been an industry standard even with a really powerfull console like xbox one x?

And I'm not talking about 4k at all. I'm fine with 1080p 60 fps or hell 720p 60 fps. But it seems still overwhelming majority of the AAA games (including first party games by microsoft) comes with 30 fps on xbox one x on any resolution whatsoever. can't xbox one x handle 60 fps? I mean wtf is the reason crackdown 3 being 30 fps with that xbox 360/ps3 at best graphics?

Cant find any reviews on this TV (Samsung UN58MU6100 in Canada). Advice/Input?

Here is the website page: https://www.thesource.ca/en-ca/tvs-and-home-theatre/televisions/4k-tvs/samsung-un58mu6100fxz-58%E2%80%9D-4k-uhd-smart-tv/p/108070589

Planning to use for my future Xbox One X. Questions I have are:

  • HDR? No issues here for HDR support on games or other HDR future content right?

  • 10 Bit panel VS 8 Bit + FRC: I know True 10 Bit is better but does anyone know if this is a NOTICEABLE difference between true 10 and 8+FRC? If its minor and not major differences, I dont care.

  • Any other thoughts?

Im looking to buy my TV from thesource ideally (I get a 10% discount there and warranty for cheaper), this popped up recently VS the JU6300 curved I had ordered for about $720 (minor scratch/dent on back, not noticeable when mounted) but that TV doesnt have HDR.

Quick notes:

  • NOT looking to get a TCL/Vizio etc brand TV. While they are cost effective, from my experience and the advice of several people who work in the TV industry, they dont typically last more than 3-4 years and have lower quality components. Plus my store doesnt sell these brands anyways
  • Viewing angle makes little to NO difference to me. Im going to be using the TV alone 98% of the time, sitting directly infront of it mounted at eye level sitting down. Audio also makes no difference to me, I have a Bose surround sound system that everything is getting plugged into.

All in all, I can pick this baby up for $990 Canadian dollars (+$100 for 3 year warranty which covers literally everything outside of lost/stolen) and its a 58' which to me is ideal size. If there is no glaring issues here, this seems to be the pick for me.

People don't get this game

I already understood what Square is doing: they're planning on keeping FFXV for this console generation. On PS5 and Xbox Two/720 we'll play FFXVI. Plus, this game is objectively a commercial, which is technically bad, BUT, if it's good, why you should shit on it? Just because you bought "a commercial that's good"? What if Square needs money? They're almost every time on the edge of bankrupt, they made this game as it is to recover some cash BECAUSE THEY NEED IT.

The AC collaboration, the Forza 3 collaboration, all the "out of game content" (Kingsglaive, King's Knight, etc...) they are doing it because they need money. If you don't like it, fine, but please. PLEASE. Stop shitting on the game: the game is good, the DLCs are good (Gladio's is 50/50, Prompto's is just awesome) and the post-release support is amazing.

Square is still working on FFXV because they released it incomplete. Why did they released an incomplete game? BECAUSE THEY NEEDED MONEY. They are spending the money you gave them to "finish" the game, and I personally don't feel like it's a bad thing: it keeps the game fresh and gives me incentives to go back on it once in a while.

I personally like this game, and it's probably one of my favourite Final Fantasy of all time (I played almost all of them until the end), I don't mind seeing these kind of things because I WANT MORE.

Remember one thing: if you stop supporting FFXV, you'll probably never see a well-made FFXVI, which is something you DON'T want.

Sorry, but I needed to take this out of my chest. I had to say it, 'cause seeing all these hate comments is killing me.

Are These Guys PC Elitists?

So I was In a Discord and I got Into an Argument. These Guys we're Telling Me that if my friend spends $45 on a Gpu that he won't be able to do anything or play any games even at 720p low settings. The Conversation Changed when Someone Asked what the PC looked like I posted a picture of it and Then They Made fun of it and told me to tell my friend to just buy an Xbox 360, they wanted my friend to buy an inferior platform because he can't afford to buy a Gtx 1060 or a Core i5. In the End They Kicked Me From the Discord.

Provide any additional details you wish below.

Just for some context, I'm a first time builder (current console and Mac pleb, pls forgive me ;_;), and I've recently come to understand how truly inferior console gaming is. As a result, I really want to get into PC gaming, but I'm still very unfamiliar with building in general.

I'm looking to build a pretty high quality rig, and I've come up with a parts list based off very minimal knowledge and a few days of research, and I was looking to get some feedback on it.

I have five questions that I hope this sub could help me address:

  1. Is my motherboard compatible with all the parts I've selected? I've had the hardest time trying to figure this out, and I wanted to make sure I've done this correctly.

  2. Will the case I've listed fit all the components I plan on purchasing? I'm not too sure on this as I'm still a little uncertain on how everything fits into the unit.

  3. Is this a future resistant build? I don't want to create a PC from scratch only for it to be outdated in a couple years.

  4. Is it worth it to spend so much on my first rig? Will I even notice the benefits from higher quality components?

  5. Am I getting ripped off somewhere along the line? I'm not overly cost conscious on this build but I want to make sure I'm not overpaying for anything.

Final notes:

I also need to purchase a mouse, keyboard, and a headset, but I'm planning on going to a store to test those out in person before purchasing online.

Any other comments and suggestions are warmly welcomed (feel free to berate my former Xbox and Apple allegiance; I probably deserve it) and thanks in advance for any help!!!

[Tech] How can i output my One X to 4k tv and still stream @ 720p using my Elgato HD60?

First off let me thank anyone who attempts to help in any way.

So i have pre-ordered myself a shiney new Xbox One X and am excited to see what its capable of. But this will lead me to an issue when streaming.

I currently stream to Mixer via an Elgato HD60 which takes its signal in @1080p and via OBS is downscaled to 720p (Im not partnered so i set it to 720p to ensure that hopefully most people can view my stream)

Im looking to purchase a 4k tv and obviously i want to get the best visuals from the 4k tv in front of me.

This leads me to my problem. How do i keep an output to the 4k tv at 4k, but have only 1080p go to the elgato? As the elgato wont except a 4k input.

I have read about the possibility of purchasing a 4k splitter (1 in 2 out) so one signal goes to the tv and one to the elgato. But i have also read that the splitters will only output one resolution to both sources, and that this is generally the lowest resolution (being 1080p for the Elgato). either way i am either going to end up with a 1080p output to my 4k tv or a nice looking tv at 4k but an Elgato that will display nothing.

So any and all help on this matter would be greatly appreciated...

TL;DR: How do i get my (soon to be new) One X to ouput 4k to my TV but only 1080p to an Elgato HD60?

AMD Discussion

CPU:

  • Intel 8th generation processors appear to meet expectations.
  • Intel will have difficulty maintaining margins while competing with AMD's prices.
  • 7700K may prove more cost effective than the 8700K for single threaded workloads with overclocking.
  • Ryzen consumer processor sales are now matching or exceeding Intel's.
  • Threadripper out performs similarly priced i9 processors in multi-threaded workloads.
  • i9 exceeds Threadripper performance at same core count but costs significantly more.
  • Non-i9 X-series have a low number of PCIe lanes and all X-series lack ECC memory support in order to differentiate Xeon line. (All Threadripper have 64 PCIe lanes and support ECC memory).
  • Lack of PCIe lanes on 7820X and lower processors means you cannot run dual GPU 16x PCIe.
  • Waiting for non "X" Threadripper line which will likely provide similar capability at a slightly lower price. (Rumor $849 for 1950 vs $999 for 1950X).
  • Overall positive response to Threadripper and negative response to i9.
  • $850 price point for 1950 would give a gross margin of around $720 despite costing $850 less than equal core count i9.
  • Processors like the i5 7640X illustrate Intel's attempt to maintain margins.
  • i9 TIM and RAID keys also illustrate this point.
  • Standalone Zen APU should arrive at some point soon.
  • Standalone Epyc possibly later this year.
  • i9 negatively impacts highly profitable Xeon line while Xeon line negatively impacts i9 performance.
  • Zen has no yield issues and its modular design makes it very cost effective at the expense of performance.
  • Ryzen mobile later this year.
  • Ryzen Pro next year.
  • Xbox One X.

GPU: Nvidia clearly ahead of AMD.

  • Nvidia's Volta consumer line not expected until 2018.
  • Nvidia responded to Vega with a Titan XP software update improving performance by 3x in some situations. (Bad for both Nvidia and AMD).
  • Titan XP now outperforms Vega Frontier Edition in many of the compute tasks in which it once lagged.
  • RX Vega performs about as well as expected and has some compute advantages over Nvidia.
  • RX Vega performs well enough to be a sensible purchase for users of Freesync monitors.
  • Rumors that AMD raised RX Vega price by $100 shortly before release (Vega 56 from $299 to $399).
  • Complaints about misleading Vega pricing. Some lack substance whereas others have merit. Complaints about AMD's marketing.
  • Vega appears good enough to maintain confidence in Navi.
  • APU with Vega Mobile at some point.
  • RX Vega currently being tested for Ethereum mining. Both good and bad for AMD if Vega proves efficient.

Good Gaming Laptop For OW

Bought the Asus A515 or something today for 1300$. Was told it would run overwatch fine. Couldn't even run it at 1980 x 1020. Looked like it was running at 480p maxed. Was very angry about it considering people at the store told me it would work fine. Hooking it up to my monitor made it even worse. So can someone recommend me a gaming laptop that can run overwatch at 720p at least with like what 100fps. Like my xbox looked better than the asus did. Can spend 0-1500 so if someone could hook me up with some good reviews and all that would be appreciated

Will the Xbox One X have any advantages if I have a 720p TV?

I’m wondering if it’s going to improve load times and graphics, even on a non-4K TV.

Cutting the cord, need advice

I live in semi-rural FL where we won't see YoutubeTV for a while. Tired of the Cox BS. Sling TV seems like the way to go. I don't care about DVR and the Orange lineup plus the Outdoor and the World Fishing Channel in their Heartland Extra would work just fine for me. I don't think any other service can match that at $25. One stream should be all right, too.

My main concern is the quality of video and audio. I get that Chromecast and maybe even Xbox One will not give me the experience Roku does, so I plan on getting the free stick from them and maybe buying a Premiere +. BUT apparently the videos are limited to 720p/30fps? Only stereo for audio? Is that true? How does this compare to DTV Now, PS Vue, Hulu LiveTV? Those are more expensive services for the channels I want but if the video and audio quality is substantially better, I'll go for it. Thanks!

Gaming memories: The future

For years Ive said im going to buy a xbox one, usually for retarded reasons like I wanna play that one single game and nothing else. But i never bought one. If you ask me why i would say something retarded, but the real reason is because I like the attention. I can always post and say I am gonna get one soon, but i never will because they cost money, more money then ive ever seen at one time. Now I can say i plan to get the new xbox one x, which is even more ridiculous cuz its even more money than a xbox one! But who cares I wanna play hello neighbor on my tv in 720p. When I get the xbox one x soon I will stay clear of the toxic community cuz they make fun of me. And when I say community I mean 3 kids that make fun of mean on need for speed years ago on the 360. I know that sounds dumb labeling millions of people in a community under the same umbrella based off 3 kids who cyber bullied me on need for speed all those years ago, but I feel its a pretty good sample and all xbots are basically the same. I cant wait to get my xbox one x soon.

Tried streaming Skyrim and FPS goes crazy?

So i purchased skyrim and tbh probably should have not. But i love the dam game. I want to stream it to my twitch channel. But my FPS goes from 60 fps to 30-31 FPS. Tbh idk what the hell it means or does. I stream to twitch 720p at 30 frames per second. My uploads speed is about 5.7 mbs. I tried placing my bitrate at 2400-2500 even did 2000 and still had same issues. Also when i pause game and click to a different monitor my FPS DROPPES TO like 4 -13 and goes back up. Same when i click on Game. To continue playing.

So FAR these are my PC Specs.

Case : Origin Millenium Motherboard : ASUS STRIX X299-E Gaming CPU : Intel Core i7 7800X Hex-Core 3.5GHz (4.0GHz TurboBoost) CPU Cooler : ORIGIN FROSTBYTE 360 Sealed Liquid Cooling System GPU : Single 8GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition RAM : 16GB G.Skill TridentZ 3000MHz (2 X 8GB) HDD : 250GB Samsung 850 Evo Series Power Supply : 1000 Watt EVGA SuperNOVA G3 SSD : 1TB ORIGIN PC Approved Hard Drive

My Memory Usage while playing skyrim went from 2233 MB to in the 3000's.

Just upset i wanted this to be a main stream game on my channel. And dont know what to do.

Also shile playing my xbox one remote i connected was going crazy to. Pretty much i pressed a button and wouldnt do shit. Pretty much was just doing its own thing.

Need a few necessary upgrades, looking for guidance for specific parts

Now I don't want to offend anyone upgrading an already high spec system, but I am starting to play overwatch full time, and need a few changes to my current system as Overwatch doesn't respond well to DDR3 or any Low speed ram, and I hope to stream the game at 60 Hz while keeping 144 Hz on my side. Here is my current system, I know I am going to need a new CPU, (high budget here, like 5-600 if need be, just the best one on the consumer market right now on intels side within that) a new mobo that lets me OC, and new ram (16 gb please, 2x8). Just want some suggestions here.

Can't decide whether I should mainly game on Consoles or PC

I'm actually in a good position with this since I have a current and last gen console and a PC with an FX-6300 and a GTX 960. But I really can't decide what I want to use as my main platform for gaming. These are the reasons for which I'm considering both platforms.

The first of those being cost, an important one for me. I spent about £430 on my PC whereas, factoring in the costs of the bundled games, my PS4 slim was only about £185-ish. Something people throw around as a benefit of PC gaming is that although the upfront costs may be more expensive, the savings you get on games more than make up for that. This may be true, however perhaps not for me. As someone who's not an adult yet, I can't exactly afford to buy all the newest releases or even older games at the frequency that's required to make up for this. Don't get me wrong, you can get some extremely good savings on PC what with Steam sales, humble bundles etc. But because I can't afford all the newest games, I tend to buy more last-gen games as they're pretty cheap now for the most part. But provided I get them pre-owned, a lot of games end up being around the same price on consoles as they are on PC. As for current gen games, I again tend to go for the older games which on PS4 are usually £10 - £20 which I don't think is too bad. This is where the savings really start to come in though on PC. I got Shadow of Mordor, Mad Max and Arkham Knight all for around £3 - £4 which is amazing, on amazon I'd be paying around £10 - £15 for all of these. There's also PS+ which some see as a waste of money, but given the fact I don't have many current-gen games, I think it's an alright deal. In my first year, I got LBP3, Tearaway Unfolded, DiRT 3 and recently Just Cause 3 which I am absolutely loving right now, Killing Floor 2, Life is Strange, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and This War of Mine. And a couple of interesting looking indies on top with still two months (technically three but it'll be up as soon as November's games are out probably) to go. They still wouldn't be my first picks apart from JC3 and I do think Xbox Live has it better but still for £40 it ain't bad. There’s also power consumption, my PC uses more than double the power my consoles use which makes it harder for PC to be worth it for me.

There's also the thing about resolutions, graphics and frame rates which for many is a big selling point of PC. And I do love all these improvements you get on PC, but personally I don’t mind the graphical fidelity consoles offer. I don’t even mind 30fps, as long as it’s consistent enough and I have a controller. Hell, I don’t think I even notice drops to around 27fps because I thought GTA V on PS4 had pretty much a perfect framerate but a digital foundry video actually shows that driving through the busy areas of the city causes the framerate to drop. A lot games coming out for the PS4 have frame rates that stay around the 30 mark. I’m even enjoying Just Cause 3 on PS4, despite it’s terrible performance. However, looking at some of the digital foundry frame rate analyses for games like Far Cry 3, Crysis and Borderlands on PS3 does concern me, and I’m unsure whether I’d be able to enjoy the games at those framerates. I did play Borderlands on PC capped at 20fps with a controller to simulate the worst case scenario and in all honesty, all through not ideal, it was playable and still enjoyable. That was a consistent framerate though and not a fluctuating one like what it would be like on consoles. But, right now I’m playing Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood on PS3 and the performance of the game is really bugging me. Although, I think that’s more the constant stuttering and freezing I’m getting but these are still things I could no doubt improve on PC.

There’s also the other benefits of PC such as mouse and keyboard support, mod support, game capture, in-home streaming etc. Most of these are nice but benefits I can live without like the mouse and keyboard support and modding but the options that PC provides in terms of recording and remote play does have me on the fence a bit. I’ve always seen youtube as something I could maybe get into to as a nice little hobby and a way to earn a little bit of money. The standard PS4 does have this functionality but it’s limited to 720p@30fps and it’s only at a bitrate that’s just about good enough for youtube at that resolution. PC gives me a lot more flexibility with being able to record any game, old and new, at 60fps and any resolution I want with a far higher bitrate than what youtube supports. I also have a unique idea for a video series, however it is very PC centric and I’m not resorting to doing generic lets plays. This whole youtube thing might just end up being a stupid fantasy of mine, but there’s still remote play which could still prove useful. Another feature that I can only use on PS4 games where I can do this on any PC game. There’s also the thing about being able to play older games at great framerates, not having to rely on remasters that cost a lot more and being able to run some PS2 era games on laptops.

Then there’s exclusives. This is a big pull for me towards consoles since the PC exclusives or the “soft-exclusives” like CS:GO have never really appealed to me. But on my playstation consoles, I have a whole plethora of exclusives that do appeal me. There’s also the eastern third-party games (although more of these games are coming on PC now) and some games that just never make it to PC like Destiny or one of my personal favourites, Red Dead Redemption.

There’s also the little things I like about consoles like how everything just works, an easy controller-friendly nice looking UI which means I can just navigate to my games sitting back and get to things with ease, the fact everything works natively with a controller and it’s just a nice little dedicated system. There’s also the trophy hunting, something one of my mates got my into when I had a weird phase where I jumped from PC to PS4 and it’s something I absolutely love. It gives my games a lot more replay value and an incentive to do certain things or to hunt down all the collectables and 100% the game. Steam does have achievements but it feels like they’re just there for the sake of it, they have no value whatsoever and don’t add to anything. A lot of games don’t even have achievements on Steam because they could be split up onto several different external services. Which is another thing I really hate about PC, how everything is split up whereas on consoles everything is under one umbrella. A little bit of paranoia also creeps in, I like having physical game discs because I feel like I’ve actually bought something which I can sell if I want to, I like having a real life collection and I know that they're always going to work if I take care of them. But what happens to my Steam collection if Steam dies, which although unlikely in the near future, it is very possible to happen at some point. And then there’s all the other services like Origin, Blizzard’s thing, the Windows Store etc which are all probably going to die long before Steam does. I’m also not sure I enjoy games as much as I do on consoles as I do on PC. I know it sounds weird, but throughout playing GTA V on PC I spent a lot of time constantly tweaking my settings and when this debate of what platform I should game on started and I was constantly hopping between PC and console, I was playing GTA IV on PC and Saints Row The Third on console and as much as I love GTA games and Rockstar games in general I definitely felt I was enjoying Saints Row The Third a lot more. Maybe I did, or the platform I was playing on had an influence on me. Of that, I’m unsure.

So why not become a hybrid gamer? Well apart from the multi-plats, there’s not really much for me on PC but if I do choose PC, I probably would keep my consoles for the exclusives but a benefit of sticking with consoles for pretty much everything is that I would be able to enjoy the online components of games like Destiny or the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 since if I went mainly PC then I wouldn’t really want to drop £40 or the then £50 every year on PS+.

The social component is something I’m also considering. I literally didn’t have any friends on PC and felt a bit lonely but the majority of my friends are on Playstation and playing GTA Online with my mates was definitely a lot of fun. That could be changing though since one of my mates is building a PC this Christmas and two other friends might be coming over to PC so this point is becoming increasingly moot.

So, in short:
Consoles - Graphics are fine, framerates are fine for the most part, full controller support, only 1 level of DRM on everything, cheaper upfront cost, less power consumption, PS+ free games, trophies, controller-friendly UI, it just works and you can get straight to gaming, physical game discs and exclusives.
PC - Better graphics, framerates and resolution, more options and flexibility, cheaper games, mods, better recording and streaming functionality and the lack of remastered games.

Thanks for reading, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Sony X720e VS TCL P605. I've tried both.....

Ok so here is the short of it. Purchased the TCL first, LOVED the overall picture quality. It can be VERY bright and it really popped. Input lag was non issue and games felt and looked great. My dealbreaker was that it did not have any form of motion interpolation and I like using that from time to time with certain games that have sub 30 fps.

So I upgrade to the Sony X720e and get everything set up and frankly im pretty disgusted atm. Input lag is NOTICEABLE unless you switch to game mode which then DIMS the screen to unacceptable levels even after tweaking. And there lies my biggest issue. This tv just doesnt POP. Its very dim compared to the TCL. I spent HOURS yesterday playing with settings and cranking everything to its max and its still not luminous enough for me.

I have latest firmware and made sure HDMI ports were set to advanced and have tested the Switch,Xbox one, and PS4. At this point im really tempted to just give up on 4k and just hook my samsung 1080P LED back up that really hit the spot for me. I was hoping for so much more out of 4k but at this point I have a real bad taste in my mouth over it.

Any suggestions?

Considering a pc own xbox one now.

Hello I have a xbox one that I use on a 720p TV. I'm looking into getting a gaming pc with an i5 7400 gtx 1060 3gb and 8gb ddr4, I would be running it on a 24in 1080p monitor. My question is how much better would this pc be compared to the Xbox, would there be a huge difference in how well it looks and would this be a worthwhile upgrade? Thank you.

Streaming PC build advice

I am looking to build a budget streaming pc for twitch, I do not plan to play games on this computer because I play off of my Xbox one and capture with my elgato hd 60. I was wondering if anyone could help me come up with a cheap build focusing mostly on processing power for the stream, with a low end or no graphics card. I was also hoping to keep the budget under $500 if that is possible and be able to run the stream at least 720p 30fps. This will be my first pc build so I appreciate the help. Thanks.

My First (Unofficial) Week As A Wannabe Twitch Streamer

For the past year, I developed a strong interest in becoming a Youtuber and Twitch streamer. In that time, I researched and purchased the different pieces of tech that I felt would get the job done and help me make my life a little easier. I feel that I’m finally ready to take on the challenges of streaming and look forward to getting more involved with the Twitch community. So, without further-ado here is my first (unofficial) week as a wannabe twitch streamer.

Day 1&2 - The Set-Up

I have a PS4, XBOX and XPS 9560 Laptop that I want to stream from. PS4/XBOX can stream directly to Twitch but it’s in 720p. Shooting for 1080p; 30 or 60 fps. (If you don't know what that means, don't worry about it) Plugged in PS4/XBOX to Elgato HD60 S and connected that to Laptop. Between all my tech items, I have 6 usb cables that need to be plugged into my laptop. My laptop has 2, COUNT THEM TWO USB ports...WD15 Dock FTW! Day 2 was spent downloading and learning all the necessary software components that would help the stream flow and to manage the usb and power cables that became a tangled mess by the end of the weekend.

Day 3&4 - PS4 Stream Test (Offline Single Player - Fallout 4)

I only had a couple of hours each night to test it but set too forever so I only could get 20-30 min of stream time. First test of the stream was making sure the gameplay video and audio were good and balanced. Seemed to be ok. Second and last test of the day was making sure my microphone was being picked up and not under or over-powering the game audio. Everything checked out. The fourth day was testing out my video camera and making sure the quality and focus was correct. CHECK CHECK CHECK! It was a good day!

Day 5 - XBOX Stream Test (Online Multiplayer - Rocket League)

Internet is shit and the stream is laggy as all hell. 220 PING! Are you serious?! Guess I'm forced to stream single player games until I can come up with a better solution or move. $#&% YOU T.W.C! Can’t wait till I’m done with you.

Day 6 - Twitch Profile Update

Spent 12 hours just updating my profile, editing the panels and making buttons...don’t ask but I hope you like it. Learned about streamlabs which is SWEET! but also a lot of fun just to play around with. Probably going to spend more time with developing fun notifications.

Day 7 - Setting Up OBS To Stream Steam Games

The set up was straight forward but there were some games that were not able to be recorded correctly. I'm looking at you Stardew Valley. Regardless, the guides on Reddit and YouTube videos were helpful for this set up. I'll post the helpful links later if any of you are interested.

Whew! I hope you liked reading about my first (unofficial) week as a wannabe twitch streamer! It was such an amazing learning experience. The set-up process was very challenging but seriously a lot of fun. I tend to overcomplicate issues that required only a small tweak here and there but I’m better for it. Over just the past week I developed such an appreciation for the twitch streamers and what goes into their craft. It’s not just a press of a button...I mean it is for some people but to me it’s so much more than that. It's like a puzzle or riddle that you need to solve to go to the next level and with each new level comes even more problems and obstacles to overcome. I'm still learning every day and coming up with different ways to make the stream more personable, relatable and fun for people to watch. If you happen to come across the stream feel free to stop in and say hi. Thank you for reading my first Reddit post! If you have a memorable week streaming or just any advice I would love to read it!

Why is my HDMI splitter setup not working?

Here is the situation:

We are now running an Xbox One into our relatively old box TV (SAMSUNG HLN567W) through an HDMI to DVI adapter since the TV had its component board die on us (analog board?). That is okay since we have an HDMI to DVI adapter, but since no audio comes out of that port now I needed to add an external speaker system. In order to do that I bought an HDMI splitter that has an HDMI input, HDMI output and separate audio output (AVENK 2 Port 1x2 HDMI Splitter with Audio Extractor). I have attached a visual of my set up.

My issue is when I run the setup I have attached with the DVI adapter, I get no signal on the TV; however, when I run the splitter into an actual HDMI output on a different TV, it works fine. Additionally, as I mentioned above running the game console into the TV directly through the DVI adapter works fine, just no audio. Why is the HDMI splitter not working on my setup? Is the signal being converted to one that's incompatible? Any help would be appreciated!

Note: My console display is set to 720p so it can be viewed on the TV

Instant Gameview FPS drop w/Stream Command

I capture my Xbox One S gameplay at 1080p 60 fps 30.0 Mbps bitrate, and the Instant Gameview window is clearly at 60 fps; I stream (while not recording) at 3.00 Mbps which ends up equating to 720p 60 fps, according to Game Capture HD - all still well.

However, the second I switch to a scene that has an overlay as simple as my logo at the bottom, Instant Gameview drops instantly to, what looks like, 30 fps. Initially, this isn't a problem because the stream itself on Twitch's end still seems to be outputting at 60 fps, until it just doesn't, and Game Capture HD reports a warning under the Stream button saying "Cannot render 60 fps".

This problem does not occur when using the HD60 Pro through OBS instead, with 60 fps being maintained regardless of having an overlay, webcam, and/or just the game in a scene.
