[Request] Cheap UK gaming TV

I'm trying to find a TV primarily to plug my Xbox 360 (and eventually perhaps a next-gen console) and partially for netflix (no freeview etc. required). Ideally it would be a 32inch TV, though I'd be willing to compromise a little if necessary.

America seems to have much better budget TVs, such as this one.

I'm wondering about whether I should bite the bullet and order from the states, or if I'm missing some good deals in the UK.

I am willing to spend up to £200, however I'd much prefer to spend between £100-£150 if possible - its a student TV.

Thanks a lot!

How to start a new game in AC Unity/Syndicate without losing your previous save [All Platforms]

Seeing as we reach Unity in the Marathon now, posting this guide seemed like a good idea.

PC

1. Disable Cloud Saves in Uplay (Settings -> General, then untick "Enable Cloud Save Synchronization for supported games")

2. Find your savegame:
Save game location 32-bit Windows:
%PROGRAMFILES%\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\

Save game location 64-bit Windows:
%PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\
(You can press Win+R and simply copy+paste the string there).
You'll see a single folder with a long name. This is your User ID. Open the folder.
Inside the folder you'll find a number of folders with different numbers.
For Unity, savegames can be folders with the following number: 720, 857, 944 or 945.
For Syndicate it should be either 1875 or 1957.

3. Make a backup of this folder and then delete it.
4. Start AC Unity/Syndicate and play at least until it saves.

Now you have two options. Re-enable cloud saves and let your local save overwrite your online save and then repeat the whole process above when you want your previous save back. Or let cloud saves disabled and re-enable them when you want your old save back. When you re-enable cloud saves, you will get a screen similar to this one. In this case using the cloud save would restore my old save. Selecting the local save will replace the cloud save with it (and you'll have to manually turn it back).

PS4

thanks to /u/SparkedSynapse

  1. Select New User
  2. Select "Create a User", not Play as Guest -- this lets you keep your saved data.
  3. Accept License Agreement
  4. Skip PSN
  5. Select any Avatar and type any name
  6. Launch the game

Xbox One

thanks to /u/McHeisenburglar

  1. Open the Xbox Guide (by pressing the Xbox button on the controller)
  2. Go to the Profile tab at the very top
  3. Select 'Add & manage'
  4. Select 'Add new'
  5. Follow the instructions
  6. Launch the game

Any questions, feel free to ask!

Screen Lag PCars2/xbox 1 original

Need some guidance here.

There seems to be tons of lag when playing single player. Especially noticeable in 3rd person view.

As stated above, I’m playing on an xbox one. Is it the game or the console? Side note: also playing on older Panasonic 720p plasma. But not seeing any lag in any other game.

Thanks

Original Xbox Video Issue

I have a softmodded original Xbox running component cables (not sure of the revision but I can find that out later) which seems to be having some video issues. While the console is running (tested at 480p 720p and 1080i) the video seems to be distorted slightly with some small horizontal screen tearing lines being displayed. Occasionally the video will also cut out and the signal has to resync. I haven't taken out the clock capacitor yet, could that be the issue?

How can I play this game? (Xbox and PC question)

I have a laptop with AMD A8 4500 cpu and a dual graphics card of HD 7670m + 7660g.

One of my roommates has an Xbox one.

  1. Can my PC run it at 60 fps at 720p?

  2. Can I buy it once and play on both Xbox and PC? (Like PS4 cross buy with the Vita?)

  3. If so, can I create an Xbox profile or use a 360 profile for Xbox One and have the game linked to my account even though I play on my roommates console?

Thanks in advance! Really looking forward to the game!

Soul Calibur 2 - I finally found a good fighting game campaign!

I've played a few story modes in fighting games now.. and what can I say? They were pretty bad, and I might as well have skipped them. A few hours of cutscenes with cheesy dialogue and fights inbetween them. Don't get me wrong, the singleplayer content such as arcade and survival modes is still very strong, and I have a lot of fun in my fighting games even when I play alone.

A week or two ago, I picked up Soul Calibur 2 HD in a sale. I had never played a SC-game before, but I immediately got in the groove and really enjoyed it. The gameplay felt familiar, and it won't reinvent the wheel for anyone that has played a few fighters. The biggest difference is that you are fighting with weapons and shields. This is mostly cosmetic, but there are some differences in how it plays. Instead of the usual punch and kick, your main attacks are either horizontal or vertical (though you can kick too). You can go for a highly damaging and juggle-able vertical slice, but this is easily sidestepped. It can quickly get highly technical!

So.. for the story mode (Weapon Master). I started playing it with a open mind, and.. you guessed it from the title of the post. It was a lot of fun! You are moving around on a map, selecting what mission you want to do. The most interesting difference is that every battle has a modifier that changes how it plays. The arena can be exposed to strong gusts of wind, your opponent can be invisible, or you can only damage the opponent by a perfectly timed guard impact. There was even a battle where you had to deliver the final hit before the battle ended, passing the bomb onto the opponent. Fun stuff all the way!

Every time you win a battle, you earn xp and gold. You level up (not sure if this actually changes how hard you hit) and get new titles, with the ultimate goal of becoming the Iron Edgemaster at level 72. The gold is used for buying new weapons for the fighters, where each weapon has different stats and features. One weapon can have higher attack, but less defense. One might slowly regenerate your health, while its attack power is slightly gimped. There's always a balanced weapon to choose, or you can find one that is tailored to your style. You can also spend the gold on artworks or costumes for the characters. New characters are also unlocked (for all modes) as you progress through the story.

In some levels, you are fighting your way through a dungeon. This works in the same way as the world map, only you are moving through it block by block on a grid, where every "block" is a fight. So you're fighting your way through the dungeon, working your way toward the boss. The paths will often branch out, so you'll just have to try a direction and see if you are getting somewhere. It's another interesting addition to the campaign for sure! The story related dungeons are no bigger than maybe 4-5 battles, but I'd say one of the optional ones were 15-20 battles (with some getting lost and going the wrong direction). These can drag on for a bit, as you have to do them in one sitting, but with some patience, it's not a issue :)

So.. that's my two cents about the Soul Calibur 2 Weapon Master mode. It was definitely a pleasant surprise, and I wonder if the rest of the SC-games are worth playing. Even if you're still not sold about playing the campaign, it is of course a excellent fighting game. I haven't played it with my friends yet, but the arcade mode has kept me hooked after I completed WM. I also ended up buying a copy of SC2 for the original Xbox, just to have this nice piece of gaming history in my physical collection (and there's that warm, fuzzy feeling about playing games on original hardware). It actually runs at 720p on the OG Xbox! Wicked!

If there was one fighter I lost 9 times out of 10 against.. it was Voldo. Honorable mention: Ivy

Is it Soul Calibur or SoulCalibur? :|

Have you played any other fighting games with actually good campaigns? Let's discuss!

[SIB] Should I get Destiny 2 for PC or XBONE?

Hi, I'm interested in Destiny 2 and am probably going to get it as my enjoyment in other MMOs has severely dwindled (SWTOR r.i.p.).

I'm primarily a PC gamer, but I have some friends on the Xbox 1. I probably would not be specifically playing D2 with them, though.

I'm just torn between PC and Xbox 1 because I know the franchise is native to consoles, and I'm kind of sick of dealing with bad ports. I'll live with 30/60fps 720p if everyone else in the server is stuck with it too.

Thoughts?

[Opinion] Modern movie remakes/reboots affects nostalgia

The reason why I'm going to create this just because how much I'm pissed about having a Terminator reboot, a Halloween reboot and a American live-action remake/reboot of the greatest Japanese animated film right now.

In the last 5 years, no matter how many times Hollywood associates are planning to redo classic films and movie franchises in the crappy remakes and reboots. When a remake/reboot of anything that was popular is 0-30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it still suck. What's the point paying it to watch if it's nothing good? Let me explain why it went out of control nowadays.

Back in the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii era, 70-80 percent of Americans didn't begged for remake or reboot of entertainment because we wanted to enjoy good creatives like Gears of War, Killzone, No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Dead Island, Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, Wall-E, Fallout 3, Black Swan, The Last of Us, District 9, Bioshock, Super Mario Galaxy, Assassin's Creed, Up in the Air, James Cameron's AVATAR and Midnight in Paris. All of those I mention movies and video games were so damn good and refreshing. Of course, we did not suffer nostalgia for anything that need to be redone and that's great. Until late 2000s or early 2010s, 35-55 percent of Americans are addicted to crappy remakes/reboots like Andrew Garfield's Spidey movies, Samuel Bayer's Nightmare on the Elm Street and Marcus Nispel's Friday the 13th. Since those, few people are begging for a few.

However, when Xbox One and Playstation 4 era started, 55-65 percent of people nowadays starting to beg for remakes/reboots they would love to see for a different story with more than 720p and modern music. In the last 2-3 years, it is already getting really wild. The more and more people watching crappy remakes/reboots wants more of them. People don't want anything new but they still think remakes/reboots are still new & original because of one thing: NOSTALGIA. It's not Hollywood associates, it's just the audiences/viewers in general like us. These crappy remakes/reboots weren't made for the critics, they were made for the fans, that's how it affected nostalgia in the first place. Any movie remake/reboot that has alot of rotten reviews is a nostalgia grab than just money. As I say again, I do think Hollywood remake/reboot movies for money, they are doing it for NOSTALGIC people, that's the problem. To this moment, my problem is that classic films and movie franchises will cease to exist and it's making me sad but suicidal.

As far as this goes, it does. The only exception to this era was Andy Serkis' Apes trilogy, Andy Muschietti's IT, Alien Isolation, The Revenant, Mad Max: Fury Road, Forza Horizon trilogy, La La Land and few great ones, that was it. Nostalgia trend in movies has got to end already.

Nothing is original in the United States anymore???

My impression of my trial period

So i have 1 more day left on my trial period and i don't believe i will be going through with the subscription. For people considering the service i wanted to give a list of things i think are good about Youtube TV and things that need work.

The platforms i used to test Youtube TV were :

  • Windows 10 PC
  • Android Tablet (Casting)
  • IPhone 6S (Casting)

Windows 10 PC Experience

Honestly this is easily the worst experience of the bunch. Here are some problems that YTV has that no other streaming platform i have tried (Sling, DirectTV Now) have.

  1. You must use Chrome. Why is a streaming service not browser agnostic? Its 2017, this is unacceptable.
  2. I have one monitor hooked up with a straight HDMI cable. Another hooked up with hdmi into a dvi converter. On the HDMI monitor i can watch in 720p, on the other only 480p. I am aware this is a HDCP issue, but it greatly diminishes the user experience and this type of thing would be almost impossible to explain to your low tech relatives.

Casting Experience

The casting itself works excellent. At least to my Vizio TV. To the Gen 1 Chromecast i have? not so much. Constant stalls, failures to start etc. They give a warning about this of course, but for someone reason i can cast Netflix and any other streaming content just fine to that device. Having to cast to the TV though means i have to input change from the Xbox which is a bit of a chore.

The Mobile Apps

They work mostly OK. I don't love the interface to be honest but i have seen worse. One thing i can't find at all, and i don't even know if its included is a guide. You can see whats live RIGHT NOW. But if its 7:58 and i want to see what will be on in 2 minutes that impossible from what i can tell. This becomes extremely infuriating. Especially since the "live" tab doesn't seem to update for me in any sort of timely manner. I normally have to close the app and reopen it to save time. I also dont know why SO MUCH useful data is buried in the search menu. If i could get that data on the front page of the app and not have all of the "suggested shows" for me there it would really streamline the usage quite a bit.

The DVR

Easily the best feature of this service. Works flawlessly. No complaints whatsoever.

3rd party apps

Let me be brief. There are none and its the main reason i can't keep this service. Its ALMOST 2018 and to release a streaming service without compatible apps for the major players (Roku, Amazon Fire, Xbox/PS4) is simply inexcusable. I use a xbox one in my living room and two rokus in the other rooms. Not having a native app makes selling this service to the family a chore and leads to input changing or more complicated instructions. I know they said they are coming out with these, but they should have been available on launch, there is no excuse.

Result

All in all this service feels incomplete. I think it was rolled out without the proper details that people expect from streaming services. It may be great in 6 months to a year but im not going to wait around to find out.

Question for Halo 3 BC.

I was thinking of picking up Halo 3 again since the MMC Halo 3 player count is smaller then a Debbie cake in 2017. I was wondering how the games player base is. Does it seem large enough to find a game in a short time? How does the game run? Is it a smooth 30fps or kinda rough like Reach B.C. can be some times. Is anyone running the game on a 4k tv? If so does it look sharp/good like its running at 1080p or getting up scaled to 4k? Or does it look like Reach where the game is running 720p and kinda jagged looking?

I have tried to find these answers online but I can only find info about Halo 3 MMC or articles about Xbox360 Halo 3 before the Backwards Compatibility.

Switch - finally docked it

All I can say is WOW!!! A little background...I only own Zelda and a few demos and my goal is to complete Zelda before moving on to other games. I have had the Switch since end of August and have only used it in handheld mode as I generally will play from the other couch while my wife watches her shows or does some work. Today, I hooked up the dock and tried it on the TV for the first time and holy shit am I impressed! Each day the Nintendo Switch seems to renew my love for gaming! Being a Xbox gamer from day one, I cannot get over how much more I enjoy playing the Switch, even if it was only as a portable (even if it's in the living room/couch) up until today. The barely noticeable load times, the seamless transition from dock to portable, the nostalgia from it being Nintendo! The over abundance of news and games!

I know this post is redundant at best but I also know people still come into this sub for feedback and input before making the plunge. This post may even be removed however I wanted to share my initial experience as I know some are on the fence and a lot has been made out of 720p/1080p and 30 vs 60 FPS rates. Again I've only jammed out on Zelda but I've noticed nothing that would deter me from advising someone to not get the Switch! My expectations are realistic with major titles and I can't wait for Mario Odyssey as well as others. I can't stand the long load times, the 2 hour installation for a new game and continuously updating my Xbox just to play!

Switch = breath of fresh air! Well done and thank you to the subreddit for the constant updates and discussions! Love it!

To those who complain about 720p [short rant]

As you may know it seems a lot off bigger games coming out on the switch like DOOM and Wolfenstein are going to be running in 720p in docked and undocked mode. Let's be honest here the switch is a BEAST of a handheld system but as a home console I will admit it is on the weaker side, but 720p is not a bad thing. Think about it we have about half and Xbox one packed into a small tablet 720p is more than reasonable. You don't need to have 1080p to enjoy a game. Just accept what we are getting, be glad we are getting all the third party support we could possibly want. ENJOY YOUR GAMES WHEREVER YOU GO.

Laptop crashing home WiFi when connected. Xbox, desktop, and phones all connected at the same time don’t. It’s just the laptop.

Hey everyone!

Please redirect me if this is in the wrong place.

When I open my laptop and do anything that requires internet, it crashes my router. I can have my Xbox, desktop, and phone going while streaming and gaming at the same time and this doesn’t happen. But if I open Google on the laptop, it’s a death sentence. Can’t even send an email.

The internet will disconnect then boot itself back up. Sometimes it’s a quick reconnect and other times it takes about 5 minutes.

How do I figure out why this is happening just when the laptop connects? Do you have any troubleshooting suggestions? It’s gotten to the point that I can’t use my laptop at home.

If it’s relevant, the laptop is a Lenovo Yoga 720. Let me know if any other information would be helpful.

Thank you for your time!

Edit: grammar

Is there a noticeable difference between 720p and 1080p?

So I've always played my Xbox on a 32" 720p TV, only about 4-5 feet away from me. I was thinking of getting a new TV, the ones I were looking at were 40-43" and 1080p. Would there be any noticeable difference in quality? I think the menus and UI might look a little bit sharper, but most Xbox One games are only 720-900p anyways.

How powerful of a PC do you think it'll take to run Sonic Forces?

Because of my entry into the PC gaming scene, I feel like the PC version might be the best choice, despite Denuvo and such. However, we're still not sure what it takes to run the game, as they never really released the specs.

Though, if I had to take an educated guess, I'm assuming that it's probably gonna need a bit more than an entry level PC. That's more than likely a statement of the fact that this game is gonna be built for 2017-based hardware, like the Switch and the Xbox One X, for example.

Maybe I'm just a bit worried that my PC might not be able to run it at 1080p 60 FPS. I only have an Intel Pentium G4560 and a GTX 1050, with 8 GB of DDR4-2133 RAM. I found out that this setup can run Sonic Generations at 1440p maximum settings with no issue, but that game is technically a 720p game from 2011, so I don't know. If you've ever played Sonic Generations at 1080p, the text and stuff is all blurry, and there's a bit of jagged edges. It's not meant for 1080p, it seems, which is probably why it can handle upscaling the game to a higher resolution, as opposed to natively running the game at 1080p.

On the other hand, Sonic Forces is gonna be... wait, is it also 720p? It appears that it's gonna run at 720p 30 FPS on the Switch, so it could be a 720p game. Then again, it's also being released for the Xbox One X's enhancement capabilities, so it will run at 4K. Not sure if it'll be 60 FPS, but it'll be 4K.

Then that leaves the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 versions, which I'm logically assuming are aiming to be 1080p. Then again, maybe not. It has been confirmed that the game runs at 60 FPS, and Sonic Generations and Sonic Unleashed struggled to go above 30 FPS (though, Sonic Generations was capped). Considering I don't know how much more powerful the Xbox One is exactly compared to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 4, not to mention I'm not sure how much more optimized and capable the Hedgehog Engine 2 is compared to the first one, I'm not sure if it'll be in 720p or 1080p.

I know that seemed like a derailment, but I'm really hoping that Sonic Forces doesn't require anything more powerful than my current setup, which is more powerful than an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4 (as confirmed by other people), and I'm REALLY I can use my current setup to play the game at 1080p 60 FPS with no issues, even if I have to turn down a setting or two.

Should I put my xbox on my 50" 4k living room tv I have to share or my 32" 720p tv that is all to myself?

Married dude here. I currently have my xbox hooked up to our 50inch living room tv. Problem is that my wife likes to watch tv as well so we have to share tv time. We have a spare bedroom with a 32" tv that nobody uses. Which room would you put the tv in? I view the pros and cons as follows:

Xbox on 50" tv: good because it forces me to not play skyrim too much and i spend time with my wife. Bad, because she watches reality tv shows on it. Ugh.

Xbox on 32" tv: good because I can play whenever I want. I was also thinking of turning the room into a man cave since its empty except a futon and tv. Downside is a smaller tv and id spend less time with my wife.

Can someone help me with XB1 vs XB1S vs XB1X?

Hey guys, first time poster to this sub. The titles I'm interested in the next year are Forza 7, Far Cry 5, and RDR2. I've been considering upgrading my system to an XB1X and a 4k monitor, but at ~$900, it seems like a lot of money when I have a system that works fine. I then considered upgrading to a new LED 1080p monitor (my current one is a 720p monitor from 5 years ago) and an Xbox One S. For ~$400, this is much more reasonable, however, I'm not sure how much of a difference the Xbox One S would make compared to an Xbox One. I think I'll get the monitor no matter what, though. Anyway, here are my questions:

Question 1: will an Xbox One S play the upcoming games noticeably better than the original Xbox One? How much better? Better FPS, Resolution, or both? Can you give numbers?

Question 2: My friend told me that the XB1X will not be able to consistently play 4k at 60fps so it will go down to 4k and ~30 fps, while the Xbox One S would hold 1080p at 60 fps. This seems false to me, but not completely implausible. Any truth to it? Thanks!

Strange frame rate issues tied to keyboard input [help]

I'm having a strange frame rate issue in games that are developed in Unreal Engine. I can look around with a mouse fine, but as soon as I hit any key on the keyboard (doesn't need to serve a function in-game), my frame rate drops to <1-5 (I've had it freeze for several seconds before moving to the next frame). Naturally, I've made sure all of my drivers are up to date, and I've rebooted my PC. I also scaled down all of the graphics settings, but the issue persists. I would have simply sent this post to the Paragon sub (the game I initially noticed this in) but the problem also appears in both Fortnite and Unreal Tournament, but not games like Warframe (made in the Evolution engine).

The issue does not appear when using an xbox controller. The issue still happens when using a USB keyboard. It's clearly something to do with how Unreal is handling input from my setup. The problem also appears in-engine while editing scenes, and testing games.

Admittedly, my setup is on a simple laptop (Core i7, AMD R7 M440 4 GB VRAM, 16GB RAM), but I've been able to run UE games on low and 720p at a solid 30 FPS for months.

Epic support simply suggested submitting an in-game bug and trying a different keyboard.

A few more observations: I don't have much of a time frame for this because the issue appeared when I logged on for the first time in a few months.

I'm sorry if this was the wrong place to post this. If so, please direct me to a better place. Thanks!

GPD XD Review: Handheld Emulation

I bought this device about a month ago, and I have loved it so much, and found it to be so utterly unique, that I feel it is worth sharing with the community. This is not intended to be an add spot for GPD. Rather this is my experience using the handheld, what worked well for me, and how I think it compares with other handheld emulation devices. Without further ado, my review of the GPD-XD:

Formatted Post can be read here: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/41042-gpd-xd-review-handheld-emulation/?tab=comments#comment-256946

GPD XD: The Ultimate Portable for Serious Gamers http://www.gpdxd.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/GPD-XD-BLACK-16G-2.jpg https://www.gpdxd.com/

The GPD-XD is a android tablet with a built in controller. The intended purpose of the device is to be a pocket size handheld emulation machine. It comes with PPSSPP and a few other emulators already loaded. It uses a controller friendly android theme by default, with the ability to switch to a more traditional android desktop in the settings option.

It uses an Rockchip RK3288 ARM based chipset (four 32bit A17 Cores clocked at 1.8ghz) with 2GB of system memory and a mali T760 GPU. The unit has a 5.5 inch 720p IPS touchscreen panel, a built in ten button XBOX style controller with shoulder buttons and 3DS style button triggers on the back. It has support for SDHC TF/SD cards of any capacity. It charges via micro USB and it has a mini HDMI and an audio port on the back. On the front it has two speakers with properly synced stereo audio. The unit ships with Andriod 4.4.

In terms of size and weight, the machine is almost identical to the new 3DS XL, being a little thicker on the bottom and feeling a tad lighter overall. The body is made of a glossy plastic with a subtle speckled pattern. The screen folds in using a clamshell hinge. The two thumbsticks at the top are proper analog, with the R3 an L3 switches relocated as separate buttons adjacent to them. Between these buttons are volume controls, the power button in the center, a multi task button for switching between running apps, and a on screen HUD toggle for mapping the controller to touch inputs. The back and the home button are offset from center right, and the start and select button are offset from center left.

Emulation

Emulation is a big part of the device pitch. I loaded in a 200GB SD card and equipped it with Retroarch, PPSSPP, Reicast, Real3DO, ouyabouse, and Mupen64Plus FZ, and Drastic. For a front end I used Gamesome, a simple FE for android. Let's see how it did. https://www.libretro.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/2017-06-17-154903_3286x1080_scrot-1024x576.png With the most recent updates, Retroarch on android now has an identical UI to retroarch for windows and other systems. Very nearly all of the cores available on windows and linux are available for android.

The setup for Retroarch on android is pretty much identical to the setup on any other OS or device. I chose to emulate the following systems using these cores:

Atari 2600 - Stella Atari 7800 - Prosystem Atari Lynx - Handy Famicom Disk System - Nestopia MSX - BlueMSX NGP - Mednafen NGP NES - Nestopia GB - Gambette GBC - Gambette GBA - mGBA VB - Mednafen VB Sega 32x - Pico Sega CD/MD/MS/SG-1000 - Gens GX Plus Sharp 68k - p68k PS1 - PCSX REarmed PCE/PCE-CD - Mednafen PCE Fast SNES - snes9x WS/WSC - Mednafen WS Performance across the board is very good. I have experienced no lag or frame drops, and I am even able to use openGL mode with hard GPU sync enabled for minimal input lag.

Real3DO player is 3DO emulator optimized for android. It is based on the phoenix PC emulator, which is currently the most compatible 3DO player emulator available. Compared to the 4DO core available in retroarch, it offers dramatically better performance and compatibility. I had no trouble mapping the controller to the software and getting the emulator to hide the onscreen controls. Every game I tested ran full speed and without issues, including intensive 3D games like Alien vs Predator, Need for Speed, and Return Fire. Real3DO player costs 4 dollars in the google play store, but if you are a fan of the system I feel it is well worth that price.

https://lh3.ggpht.com/FAAR2BZ194RyB0b9v57DG6VjQjQy2Eb97CqJuKU58hqEvwF1AifktxyOYj217GEnccU=h900-rw

Reicast is the most mature Dreamcast emulator available on android at the moment. The biggest drawback to this emulator is the compatibility and the accuracy of emulation. I was able to play any game I tried on it without issues relating to performance, including Crazy Taxi, Isharuka, Resident Evil Code Veronica, Soul Caliber, Marvel vs Capcom, Street Fighter Alpha, Sonic Adventures 2, and many more. It is worth noting that the android version of Reicast is a paid app in the google play store.

http://wololo.net/wagic/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/ppsspp.png

PPSSPP is a cross platform PSP emulator. Game performance on this emulator varied a lot depending on the game being run. I was able to get the majority of my favorite PSP games working well with frame skipping enabled at a resolution factor of 1:1. Games that did not work well included God of War: Ghosts of Sparta and God of War: Chains of Olympus. All of my other games ran just fine but required frameskipping enabled to maintain full speed. I would describe the experience as less than what you would get on a PC but still fully enjoyable.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/VxXkZpbtMbpiqRiKFi8FPL7OrUg9UKHdfA2x9sMmUjCGSWMzmi5LxAzFzI-SnvrV8BY=h900-rw

Mupen64Plus FZ is an n64 emulator based on the mupen64plus emulator for windows. It comes with several pre configured profiles for Rice and glideN64 that each strike a difference balance between speed and accuracy of emulation. The default balanced high accuracy preset works well for me for almost every N64 games I tried. Using a resolution factor of 1:1 for native resolution, I have been able to get all but the most problematic titles to run full speed and without serious graphical glitches. Notable exceptions include Pokemon Snap, Indiana Jones, and most of the Star Wars titles, but I had no problem with Banjo Kazooie, SM64, Zelda, or other popular games.

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/rtnBfFqNtj4/hqdefault.jpg

Ouyabouse is a fork of yabause, a Sega Saturn emulator for windows. Performance is a major hurdle for this device. Many games ran pretty well on the emulation front, but not at a pleasant framerate. With frameskipping set to automatic and a resolution factor of 1:1, I was able to get Guardian Heroes, Sonic 3D blast, Saturn bomberman, and Streetfighter 3 working acceptably, but not great. Everything else I tried was too slow to be playable.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/FhQK3hdragNgcEtCn1YSvxMjTeJVb7QQpg0R64d3i409ypek0ZSJhx8ymcItCkiC5A=h900-rw

Drastic is a Nintendo DS emulator for android. Drastic is unique in that it is actually significantly better than the PC equivalent emulator on PC. Drastic works at full speed without frame skipping, with audio latency set to medium, and with high resolution mode enabled. It also supports 16 bit graphics and native resolution if you prefer the more authentic experience. This emulator cost $4.99 in the google play store, and it well worth that price.

Other emulators and other cores for RA are available and all but a few of them should work fine. MAME4Droid and RA MAME cores are available (I just haven't yet organized my MAME roms yet, so I haven't tried it). There is a DOSBOX port called DOSBOX turbo that should run many popular DOS games, and there are of course emulators for the commodore 64 and other popular 8bit computers as well. Because the Rockchip uses 32bit cores it is not possible to play Dolphin for Android, which is 64bit only, nor does it have the muscle to manage it anyways. All but a few of the consoles and computers you would like to emulate on PC are available for Android and should work great on this device.

Android Games

http://run3online.com/datacenter/imgs/angry-birds.png

Being an android tablet, the GPD-XD can also run native android games. I have on my device mobile favorites like Angry Birds, Candy Crush, Temple Run, Fruit Ninja, and many others. The screen is able to fold back 180 degrees, and is light enough to hold in one hand, making the touch screen games perfectly playable if perhaps a tad less comfortable than a traditional tablet. There are also some ports of PC games available in the App store including GTA: III, Sand Andreas, and Vice City, as well as a port of Rollercoaster Tycoon and Hearthstone. All off these games work great. GTA: San Andreas runs at full speed and with the highest graphical settings enabled at a good frame rate.

Unfortunately, since the device uses a 32bit processor, you are limited in your selection of apps and games available to download. Games like Mario Run and ports of popular PC games like Half Life 2, Portal, and KOTOR are only available on 64bit devices.

PC Streaming and Other Android Software

http://cdn.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Moonlight-Game-Streaming-for-iOS.jpg

If you have a PC with a six series or later Nvidia GPU than you can download a PC streaming app called Moonlight for free from the app store. This app lets you stream your entire windows PC to your android device, including games, movies, the web browser, or whatever else. It is also able to tap into the Steam API to provide a big box mode of Steam games. I was able to get Launchbox to play in big box mode, allowing me to stream my collection and other emulators not supported on the GPD-XD.

Streaming on my home network, moonlight measured 19-24ms of lag due to frame processing, which is not too bad. The small thumbsticks and the small screen are not very ideal for FPS games, so while I was able to stream Crysis and Doom 2016, I did not find them particularly enjoyable. Others games like Portal 2, Civilization V, and Ori and the Blind Forest worked great. Not everybody has the hardware to support streaming through moonlight, but if you do I highly recommend getting this setup.

Being an android device, you also have access to android Apps. You can stream netflix, browse youtube, watch movies, go on social media sites, and surf the web like you can on any android tablet.

There is an app available for streaming PS4 games to a handheld device called PS4 Remote Play. It is only officially compatible with certain Sony devices, but the apk has been hacked to run on tons of smartphones and tablets. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the app to work on the GPD-XD. I found forum posts from more than a year ago with other users claiming that had got it to work with much older versions of the app, but nothing I tried with do anything but crash immediately before pairing with my console.

A mentioned before, the GPX-XD is a 32 bit only device, which can limit your selection of available apps and software. This also leaves you stuck with android 4.4 or earlier, which can make you vulnerable to security threats that were never patched on older version of android. You should not use the GPD-XD to do sensitive things like banking or online shopping.

Build Quality and Personal Experience

The build quality on the GPD-XD is decidedly decent but not great. I am a bit of a controller snob, and build quality is something very important to me. The device is very usable, and I really enjoy playing games on it, but the build quality is definitely one of the weaker points of the device overall.

The dpad gets a lot of complaints from other users, but personally I find it perfectly acceptable. It has a bit of a mushy feel, and while a stiffer pad would be nice, I found all directions to feel intelligible - that is I never had trouble pressing it the direction I wanted to go, and rolling the dpad feels pretty good. The softness of the pad helps a lot with button fatigue, making it pretty comfortable to use over extended play.

The analog sticks are really too small to be useful for analog sensitive games. First person shooters are very challenging, and many n64 titles like Mario 64 or FZero X are never going to feel as good on this device as they would with a proper controller. With that being said, the short actuation distance on the left analog is perfect for 2D shooters and for games where precision is not important, like Pokemon or Zelda. I genuinely prefer playing games like R-Type and Gradius using the thumbstick, because of how much easier it is to change direction and perform fluid movements.

The face buttons are a good size and are well placed, but they feel a bit cheap. The resistance on the button press can feel a little different depending on the angle pressed. Sometimes the Y button will feel much stiffer than the others until I massage it a little bit with my thumbs. The shoulder buttons are satisfying and clicky. Due to the shape, I have to arch my fingers to reach them and the face buttons at the same time, so I don't particularly like playing games that make heavy use of the shoulder and triggers with the face buttons. This is a problem on pretty much every handheld system with shoulder buttons though, and the GPD-XD is not different.

The start, select, and other buttons feel really good. They have a nice stiff resistance and are satisfyingly clicky. The placement of the R3 and L3 buttons is really convenient for emulators. I configured the R3+L3 press in Retroarch to bring up the quick menu, and the same buttons are used to toggle the two screens in drastic, which is very nice.

The 5.5 inch touchscreen is also pretty good. The colors and the viewing angles on the IPS display are great. The screen is capable of getting reasonably bright, making it perfectly usable even outside in bright sunlight. The touchscreen is fairly accurate even if not up to the standard of premium smartphones. The 720p resolution is, in my opinion, perfect for the size and I actually prefer it over a 1080p panel in these dimensions. The screen is not protected with gorilla glass though, so be careful to only clean it with a micro fiber cloth or an old tee shirt or you will scratch it. The screen hinge is stiff enough to prevent the screen from wobbling much when playing, although it grinds and creaks a little bit when opening and closing.

Probably the best thing about the handheld is the speakers. For tiny little phone speakers they are capable of getting very loud and they sound quite decent even at high volume. You will always get much better audio out of even a cheap pair of earbuds, but for what they are they are very good, and I would even go so far as to say that they are the best mobile speakers I have heard out of a mobile device. They are properly mixed stereo too, so games that use CD quality audio sound great.

The battery life is also a strong point. I get at least eight hours on a charge while playing games. With the wifi disabled I can get much longer than that. I have taken this on long flights before and played on it all day, and I have never even come close to running out of battery on it - it really does last all day, all night, and all into the next day too.

The worst thing about the unit is the quality of the plastic. When folded up in my pocket I can often hear it flexing and creaking. The glossy plastic attracts all finger prints and grime, so that it is impossible to keep it looking clean. In the short time that I have used it, I think the oil in my fingers have already subtly stained the plastic around the face buttons and the dpad, so they appear permanently more glossy than the surrounding plastic.

More than that, the plastic just feels cheap under the hands. I would have gladly paid significantly extra if they would have manufactured it using brushed aluminum or carbon fiber instead, and it would have been nice if they could have source better parts for the face buttons and used gorilla glass on the display. Again, while I enjoy using the device a lot, it does feel decidedly cheaper than first party handhelds like the Nintendo "New" 3DS or the Playstation portables.

Other Handheld Emulators

There are a variety of other devices out there for playing emulated games on a small screen. I am going to focus here on devices that can easily fit in your pocket.

GPD-Win

http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxMjAw/z/NjAAAOSw-K9ZEmbW/%24_1.JPG

The same company that makes the GPD-XD also makes a similar device equipped with windows. This version has Atom Cherry Trail SOC with a full integrated keyboard and windows 10. Compared to the GPD-XD it has a number of advantages. The controller can be toggled to emulated a mouse through the triggers and right stick, which is better for many PC games . On windows you can use Steam streaming service to your main pc, which doesn't require any special hardware, and streaming PS4 games is supported on all windows devices. You can also run native PC games. The SOC is more powerful too, which means better game comparability and performance with emulators. Some users have even been able to get gamecube games to run mostly full speed on the device using a dolphin. You can also use windows software of all kinds, like Launchbox.

The GPD-Win has some drawbacks . It is a little bit bigger and a bit thicker than the GPD-XD. It is also roughly 80% higher cost. It has a battery life of 3-5 hours, compared to the XD's 8+ hours. In order to fit the full size keyboard GPD-WIN had to move some of the controller buttons to awkward places. The GPD-WIn also cannot run native android apps, which are generally easier to use with touchscreen controls. Personally, I think the GPD-XD is a lot more comfortable to use and a lot more pocket ready than the GPD-Win. Of all the pocket size handhelds out there, the GPD-Win is definitely the most capable and among the most expensive.

Nintendo "New" 2DS/3DS

https://www.nintendo.com/images/page/3ds/features/hero-gallery/galaxyxl/0.png

Nintendo's dedicated handheld can be flashed with a hacked firmware and made to run emulators. The biggest advantage to a 3DS is that you can run natives 3DS and DS games in addition to emulators. The build quality on the 3DS is really good, and great for NES and SNES emulators. The device has a very respectable battery life and support for off the shelf SD cards for expandable storage. With hacked firmware you can also run a browser and even stream netflix. Retroarch supports the device, and while many cores have not been recompiled for the 3DS, enough have to make emulation as a whole really good.

The 3DS is more limited in terms of the consoles it can emulate due to software support and the power of the system. It also can only support up to 32GB of expandable storage, which limits the size of your collection. A 3DS does not support game streaming of any kind.

Rasberry Pi Handheld

http://static.dnaindia.com/sites/default/files/2016/04/09/447603-game-boy-1.jpg

There are a variety of DIY and made to order handheld kits featuring a Rasberry PI board running one of the retro pie emulation images. If you put together all the parts yourself it is possible to make a handheld emulation machine on the cheap. Retropie images come pre configured with tons of software to make emulation seamless. There is a lot of great emulation software available for these boards that provide a lot of compatibility with a ton of games.

As a package, however, the PI handhelds offer variable build quality, variable battery life, and they are among the weakest in terms of emulation capability . This is really for people who like to do DIY projects, or want a particular aesthetic. A rasberry PI board is limited to 32GB SD cards. The Zero model used in most handhelds struggles withe emulating 32bit or later systems.

PS Vita/PSP https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31PqR74xymL._AC_SX430_.jpg

The PS Vita is Sony's latest handheld gaming device. It can play PS Vita and PSP games nativity. A PS vita features a PSP "mode", allowing firmware hacks for the PSP to be installed and emulators to be run via the PSP mode. This includes supports for some classic handhelds and home consoles. The PS Vita natively supports game streaming from your PS4. The first generation models had OLED screens and excellent build quality, and the second generation and PS Go models are also really good. You can purchase a huge selection of PS 1 and PS 2 classics from the play station store.

If you choose to get a PSP instead, you get all of the same emulation capabilities, and also native support for PS 1 games. A PSP cannot stream PS4 games or play PS Vita games.

The PS Vita is only capable of emulation by exploiting the PSP part of the console, and unfortunately PSP emulation is extremely limited. The playstation handhelds use proprietary flash storage which is inordinately expensive, and capacities are limited to about 64gb.

Conclusion

I have been using my GPD-XD for about a month now, and I have completely fallen in love with the machine. I take it with me wherever I go. I idly play games while watching TV, traveling, waiting in line at the grocery store, sitting on the toilet, or wherever. When I show it to my friends and coworkers their eyes all light up, and I often get to have fun conversations about games and the "good ol' days". There is something to be said about having your games with you all the time. There is something to be said about picking up a game and playing immediately on a whim.

The strong battery life, good speakers, and quality screen included on the GPD-XD contribute to its excellent overall value. The lack luster build quality in other areas, and it's lack of support for 64 bit software are significant drawbacks. If would be great if it were easier to get PS4 streaming working, and hopefully someday Steam will provide streaming support to android devices so special hardware and software isn't required to stream your PC games, as it is with Moonlight.

Different handheld emulation devices are available which provide unique features and advantages to this one. For me, this device has the best overall balance of features and power and so I strongly recommend it. It has provided me dozens of hours of entertainment and joy already, and expect it will provide me thousands more in the months and years to come.

Help: Audio Lag Issue

I’m hoping someone can help me! I’ve got a 2017 Sony X720E tv with an older Panasonic SC-PT480 sound system. Here is the current setup:

  • HD antenna running directly to the TV via coaxial
  • Xbox One running to the TV via HDMI
  • Optical audio running from the TV to the receiver

The issue I’m having is that there is a noticeable lip sync issue (sound lags behind picture) for audio coming from the TV; some antenna channels are worse than others but the real issue is the Xbox (~0.5 second delay). When I connect the optical directly from the Xbox to the receiver it’s much less noticeable, however this isn’t ideal because then I can’t use the receiver for antenna/streaming. The receiver has an ARC outlet in its only HDMI slot but I wasn’t able to get it working (no option to enable it in the receiver settings).

Can anyone offer a suggestion to fix this issue? I know the best answer is to get a new receiver but unfortunately that isn’t in the budget right now, so I’m looking for an alternative. Thanks!

Lenovo y520 or y720?

In about a month I am planing to buy a new laptop price range is about up to 1250 euros for gaming. Currently I found two best options, either y520 with I7, 1050ti, 8gb, 1tb hdd, 128ssd for 1100 (one store offers for 1k, but does not seem that trustworthy, besides if I take the one for 1100 I get free xbox one controller). The other option is y720 with i5, 1060 6gb, 256ssd (no hdd) and it costs around 1250 (varies from store to store from 1230 to 1280). Overall, y720 as laptop of course is better(metal case, better screen etc.), but question is, will i5 not bottleneck performance with 1060 in games? Or maybe you can offer something else in that price range that would be worth looking at?

Setting Output to 1080 and Stream won't start

I would say I have a good understanding above average for settings in OBS. I have been streaming fine at 720p 60FPS with my new Elgato Pro capture card. When I take off the re-scale and then try to stream at the 1080/60 the bitrate doesnt light up with the green bar. I am setting my bitrate to 6000 as I have 50 upload speed with my current provider.

I am using a capture card (Elgato HD60 PRO) to capture my Xbox. Just trying to understand which setting may be conflicting not allowing the stream to start. I thought it had to do with me not being a partner or whatever, but Twitch changed that a little bit ago.

Specs for my streaming PC:

  • Windows 10
  • 1080ti
  • 32GB RAM
  • i7 - 6700K @ 4.00 GHz

Has anyone run into this before?

Elgato HD60PRO "Master Copy" With OBS...Any benefit?

Hey guys, thanks for taking a look at my post here. I've recently purchased some streaming equipment to start console streaming from Xbox One. Went through some kinks this weekend trying out Elgato software with my HD60S, OBS, and XSplit. The least CPU intensive software seemed to be OBS which is where i'll probably end up. So my question is, in an effort to reduce CPU usage/stress from approaching 90%+ while streaming+recording, is it beneficial for me to upgrade and get the HD60 Pro for it's master copy capabilities? I'm under the impression that will allow me to stream at low CPU usage 720p/30fps but record at 1080p/60fps for later editing? Or is this something that OBS can currently handle w/ the HD60s? I've tried having the NVidea encoder do most of the legwork but it still seems to put a major stress on the PC.

For reference, I have a Dell Gaming Series 15" 7000 laptop which I spent about $1,000 on... 7th gen i7 7700HQ, 16GB Ram DDR4, 4BG GDDR5 GTX 1050 Ti, Blue Snowball, Logitech C922. Download speed roughly 150-180Mbps, Upload around 10-13Mbps

I'd like to get the best quality possible for streams and records which is why I'm open to paying a little more and getting a more powerful desktop and the HD60Pro. For reference, the desktop I'm looking at is the Alienware Aurora 7th gen i7 7700k 4.4Ghz, GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X, 16GB DDR4 RAM.

Any feedback on the equipment and usage with OBS would be much appreciated.

Looking for a definitive answer on OBS stream settings for a non-partner Twitch channel (for First Person Shooters)

Believe me... I've been doing a bunch of research on optimal settings. I do realize that there's not a single answer/solution. Here is my setup:

Dell XPS 8920 Desktop, 64GB ram, 8GB Nvidia Geforce GTX1070, Corei7 7700 Gen7 4.2 GZHz Elgato HD60 Pro Capture Card (Streaming Xbox One games)

It's hard to find a good answer lately because apparently Twitch changed their bitrate for non-partnered channels. My goal is to stream at a nice 720p 60fps so that my buddies can watch from their mobile devices and not need to be on WiFi, etc. If I can stream at 1080p 60fps, GREAT, but it's my understanding that this may limit my audience.

My stream kept freezing for some mobile users and I feel like that can be eliminated.

Thus my main question is... What are the highest quality settings I can choose that allows nearly all viewers to tune in?

Sorry for another post about this... but again... I promise I've tried and tried to find a solid answer and I have come up short.

I need some advice on upgrading setup

So currently I have a halo 5 Xbox one. And a old 720p 30 hz tv and I'm looking to upgrade. My question is if I get a 4K tv will my Xbox look good since it's not able to play 4K games ? Also if I were to buy an Xbox one x would the upgrade be wasted because of the tv.

Ultimately, my question is should I upgrade to a 1080p tv, 4K tv, Xbox one x or Xbox one s. What would be the best combo? Also if it helps money is not really an object. I have a job and can save up if I need to

[REQUEST]Dead By Daylight-10€ to celebrate my ascension from Intel Iris Graphics.

Hello /r/giftofgames.I am back with another request.I have finally ascended from an iMac and a Xbox One.This request is pretty similar to to my other one and that's because I thought that the other game was too expensive(60 euros) and I really don't want to request a very expensive game.So I tought of another game that my old PC couldn't run and I really wanted. And I saw that it was on sale(-50%).

A couple of days ago I finally gathered enough money to build my first PC.I always wanted to do it.It's been about 4 years since I wanted to do this and I did it.I can now finally play games at 1080p on high/very high/ultra settings at 60+ fps(with some exceptions).

The days where I was playing Battlefield 1 and The Division at 1080p lowest settings 50% resolution scale are now gone. And also,my console is going to be sold. That 720p 30/60 fps machine is going away along with some games.

I really want Dead By Daylight because the concept of the game is really interesting. It's like a brutal version of hide and seek. There aren't too many games that are this cheap and this good as Dead By Daylight. I actually pre-ordered it back in early May for Xbox One but right when the game arrived.I refunded it.I didn't even install/play it.I just tought about this a bit and I came to this conclusion "The game is really going to die and the port may not be good at all and my membership is going to expire soon.So what about building a PC ? I'm going to refund the game and sell the console".And so I did.I refunded the game and got my money back. That went into PC parts. And my console is still not sold yet.

See,I always wanted to experience higher framerates, higher resolutions and higher settings.Since I built my first PC with help from a friend of mine.I can experience that but the problem is.I spent all my money on PC parts. It also took a bit to build it(trouble with Ryzen cooler mounting). But I did it.

And that's why I really want you guys to help me and get the game. I can provide an Imgur Album with photos of my PC if it's requested.(It's not really a very high end PC but it's more than I need.)

My Steam Profile

Dead By Daylight

I really don't care if it's like a key or not from Steam Thank you.

[HUMOR] Please help victims of Graphicselitism

I just watched a graphics comparison between the Xbox One S, PS4 and PS4 pro and fortunately I found I would have no trouble playing any version. Unlike me, there are those who can’t. There are those who can only play games at the highest resolution and the high frame rates. These individuals must pay thousands each year to keep their PC up to date. The convenience of consoles is not something they can enjoy.

Where most can enjoy games with 40 FPS or even 30 FPS with no problem but victims of graphicselitism it appears as a slideshow. While most can comfortable discern clear images as low as 720p, the victims of this disease only see a collection of blocks.

Here’s how you can help. If you know someone who is afflicted with graphicselitism show them your support and tell they that that make valid points but most importantly tell them to STFU. It is really important that they STFU otherwise they risk infecting others with this dreaded disease.

Thank you.

I tried to get t-shirts made for this disease but no t-shirt manufacturer can print at 1080p.

I have an issue streaming from the Xbox One, can someone shed some light for me?

Good afternoon everybody,

I work in IT for a living, so I've done some troubleshooting of my own and I can't figure out how to fix my issue. Whenever I try to stream via either the Twitch app or the Mixer app, this is what I see - Image Hosted on my Website For some reason no image hosting application will accept that image -- it won't process.

Sometimes I'll be able to see an actual image, but the audio is terribly choppy and the image shows for barely a second before reverting back to that colored-static in the image above.

Important Details:

  • I live in an apartment complex
  • I have Comcast internet, 100Mb download, ~18Mb upload
  • I have tested the connection on pingtest.net and received an A- (jitter, ping, etc. were all "normal.")
  • I have removed all splitters from my apartment (but who knows how many others are installed throughout my building)
  • My Xbox One is connected directly to the modem with an ethernet cable (CAT6)
  • I have Comcast's modem/router combo

Troubleshooting Performed:

  • Hard-reset Xbox One S
  • Un-installed and re-installed the Twitch app
  • Tried logging in with a different Twitch username (trying everything here)
  • Factory reset/wiped the Xbox One S and set it up completely fresh, redownloading everything
  • Tried replacing the ethernet cable with a new one
  • Factory reset the modem
  • Tried streaming with UPnP enabled
  • Setup a DMZ, placed my Xbox One S in the DMZ and disabled UPnP
  • Disabled UPnP & DMZ, then port forwarded to my Xbox One S
  • Tried streaming when connected to WiFi (in case my ethernet port was going bad)
  • Tried a new coax cable from the jack to the modem
  • Tried a different jack
  • Tried on a different Xbox One S

Troubleshooting Not Performed:

  • Using my own modem versus the one that Comcast supplies
  • Using a capture card instead of the built-in apps (not really an option)
  • Switching ISPs (not really an option)

Any thoughts? 18Mbps upload speed with no jitter should be able to handle streaming in 720p with no issues. I just don't understand.

Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT: SOON™

Is there any way to record an entire competitive round on xbox one?

I would like to record a full video that shows a full competitive round in it, in 720p 60fps minimum. Yes, this is because I want to send this to youtubers and good players so I can get coached and told what I'm doing wrong, because I suck and I don't realize the humongous amount of mistakes I make every game. Apart from twitch (It comes out at 144p, ~15 fps and glitchy sound, plus makes my ping ~350), or the xbox recording feature (Competitive rounds are more than 5 minutes), is there any way to record an entire game? I have average internet, not the best but not the worst. Normally, my ping is around 50 in games. What can I do? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm worried about 2K18, undecided between Switch & PS4

So I saw the Direct, as most of you probably did, and saw the NBA 2K18 footage. I didn't pay much attention to it as I was super excited for all the announcements.

I get my Switch now to rewatch trailers, and videos, and I notice a few things about NBA 2K18:

  • It seems quite blurry for certain aspects. The Hornets logo looks quite blurry, but the arena's texts looks crisp.
  • The video seems to begin at 60 FPS, but then it drops and kinda lags when Dwight Howard is about to dunk in the paint.
  • Resolution may not be 720p. I think I assumed it was 720p, 30FPS, but I may be wrong.

There is no word from 2K, or anyone, on Switch-specific performance. WE KNOW it's gonna run like butter on PS4, and Xbox One, specially the PS4 Pro. But I don't want a subpar experience, or a super low resolution.

I have been DYING for this game, but no at an extremely compromised experience (which is a little bit of an assumption of mine at the moment).

With no reviews of the game, particularly of the Switch, I'm not buying any PSN. Or eShop credit until I decide. Ideally I would get both versions and enjoy the best of all worlds. Realistically, it's a lot of money, and it's the same game that requires a good investment of time for a franchise, career, my team, etc.

Anyone else have some thoughts? Do we know when the review embargo lifts? That last item is a crucial piece for me in order to get feedback on the Switch version : /

Thanks in advance fellow Switch hoops fans, and let's hope 2K18 is AMAZING on Switch, without frame-pacing issues, performance drops, or incredibly low res.

Things people should know about DOOM and Wolfenstein II from a technical standpoint since they're both coming to Switch

  1. Both games have support for the Vulkan API on PC. The Switch also has support for Vulkan as well, meaning that it was probably easy to port id Tech 6 (the engine that both games use) to the Switch. Also, id Tech 6 is a pretty optimized engine for both PC and consoles (Doom ran with dynamic scaling at 1080p at 60FPS on both the PS4 and Xbox One, so either 900p or 720p with dynamic scaling at 60FPS while docked might happen).
  2. Doom was over 70GB on PC, almost 60GB on the Xbox One, and almost 50GB on the PS4, so it might be possible that both games will require a microSD card whether you bought a physical copy, or a digital copy.

With Today's Direct, the Switch Officially Has a Game My PC Cannot Play

Title. By play, I mean optimally and minimum requirements met.

Doom 2016 coming to Switch is huge to me. Not just cause it's one of my top games of that year, but because I had to buy it on Xbox One instead of my PC. I'm running on an Alienware x51 R1 manufactured in 2013, unchanged except for hard drive. It can run Overwatch, modded Skyrim, GTA5, Battlefront and even Battlefield One. It can't run Doom and ARK, for examples. The fact that the Switch, a supposedly underpowered system to some gamers and devs, can run something that my resilient ass computer can't is outstanding... and I have the worst time understanding how other devs cannot port more to the Switch after this.

Basic Specs for fellow PC players:
Nvidia GTX 660
Intel i7 3770
16GB Ram

I know I could upgrade a little and this post would be obsolete, but that's not gonna happen sooner than Doom on Switch.

tl;dr - Doom 2016 can run on the Switch, yet it can't run on my computer that runs Battlefield One just fine. Now I have never ending questions to game devs that are dicks to Switch.

Edit: Everyone assuming that I think Switch is top shit tech now, no. Lol. It is, however, not as hard to work with as some make it out to believe. coughTitanfallDevscough

Edit 2: Those that assume that I can run DOOM 2016 need to double check the minimum requirements for it. Posted my specs for that reason. My graphics card isn't minimum. Don't think that's enough to not make it from playing? I can't play ARK or Halo 5: Forge either for the exact same reason. Believe me. I've tried. Multiple times. Multiple settings. PM if you have an Nvidia GTX 660 and can run DOOM 2016 at least 720p 60fps.

Recent degradation in picture quality, but no changes to settings. Can anyone advise?

New PleX user here (one week in) and loving it. However, after an upgrade to the latest version (1.8.4.4249), and a reboot of my Mac, I noticed a degradation in picture quality. A 1080p, 8gb mkv file now looks like it's barely at 720p picture quality. I'm noticing this problem on both of the devices I'm streaming to (Xbox One and Amazon FireTV). None of my settings had been changed prior to me noticing the problem. I tried to adjust transcoder quality ("Make my CPU hurt") and transcoding x264 preset ("Very slow" as they state that slower values result in better video quality). Can anyone provide advisement?

Help

Hello! Ok so for basically all my life I have been playing video games on console (Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One) and I'm just getting bored of console gaming and the restrictions that come with it. So I am deciding to switch to PC gaming. I have had several people tell me to build my computer, however I have looking at an awesome and reliable company called MainGear and was considering letting them put my computer together. I don't want to screw something up when building my computer, yet buying one from Maingear is more expensive. Everyone tells me building one is better and cheaper, but buying one comes with a warranty and it looks cooler (a main thing that I am struggling with is whether or not to get open loop liquid cooling).

If I were to build one, here is my setup: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8CxGQV

If I were to buy one, this would be my setup: Chassis: NZXT H440 RAZER Edition
Case: Internal LED MAINGEAR Logo Case Lighting: Green LED Light Strip Motherboard: Asus Strix Z270H Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 7500 3.4GHz/3.68GHz Turbo QUAD Core CPU 6MB L3 Cache Processor Cooling: [Open Loop Liquid Cooling] MAINGEAR EPIC 720 Custom Handcrafted Liquid Cooling Coolant: [GREEN] EKoolant extra pure, distilled, and deionized water
Memory: 16GB HyperX® FURY™ DDR4- 2666 (2x8GB) [Dual Channel] Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Power Supply: 850W EVGA® SuperNOVA 80 Plus Certified PSU
Power Supply Sleeving: GREEN Operating System Drive: [SSD] 500GB Samsung® 850 EVO [520MB/s Sequential Reads] Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Monitor: 23" Asus® VS239H-P 1920x1080 IPS 5ms Keyboard: Razer® Blackwidow X Chroma Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Mouse: Razer® Deathadder Elite Chroma

If I buy a PC it would be open loop liquid cooled instead of closed looped liquid cooled like the built version.

Let me know your opinion or what I should choose (or if I should change anything)

THANK YOU!

Decent tv for xbox one x.

I've had a Samsung since 2006, a 720p. I'd like to get a 4k Samsung brand. My issue is, my price range is $600.00 to $700.00. I don't play competitively, as on online much resides GTA when it first came out. I usually stick to action and RPG'S. Morrowind, Onlivion, Skyrim, Fable I-II, dishonored etc. I realise dynamic black is a big issue for people but I am also used to a 720p. What is a decent 4k budget tv that's good over all and I so t throw my controller at it for being shit.

Discussion - What's the next big improvement in resolution?

This might be a stupid question, but as I'm about to purchase a 4K / HDR10 television and Xbox one x this fall it made me wonder if anybody knew :

A) if there was any further level in quality on the horizon? As in 720<1080<4K+HDR<?

B) when do you think this next generation of resolution / lighting effects (whatever the improvement may be) be the norm in the industry?

C) how long do you think it will be before 4K and hdr10 are obsolete?

I was just curious if anybody else thought about stuff like this , and how it might influence somebody to adopt 4K and hdr10 earlier rather than later

HD60 or any other recommendations?

Hi.

I'm currently researching on which capture card I want to purchase this late fall in a few months. I've read comparisons between the HD60 and the HD60 pro from the website. I'm the type of person, however, who no matter what information I read (base on statistics and specs) I cannot make a definite choice based on those things alone.

I also do not have the luxury or money to purchase multiple capture cards to test which I prefer to use.

So I come to reddit to ask those who have used the HD60 or another elgato capture card about their experiences with the product.

I intend to use the card to stream my PS4, Xbox 360, and other consoles. I'm not interested in the highest frames or things like that. I'm content with broadcasting at 720p. I will say that including the card inside my computer is not a high priority as the location of my system would only add more wires and it'd be even more hectic than it is now. That's why I'm looking initially at the HD60 but open to suggestions.

For those who have used it, how was your experience personally? How was the ease of set up? How did things run and the experiences your viewers (if you stream) noticed?

Thanks for sharing your experiences to aid me in my decision.

Retrogaming on an older HDTV?

I have a 32in 720p (768p actual) RCA LCD from 2008. It has 2 HDMI inputs, 1 component, 1 VGA, 1 composite, and 1 s-video/composite (shared audio). It also accepts 240p signal and recognises it as such and has no appreciable input lag.

Would the best, cheapest, way to hook up consoles is to go for their supported inputs? IE PS2 and GC on component, N64 and SNES on s-video (or HD Retrovision if I can get one), and NES on composite.

Or should I get a middle of the road s-video and composite upscaled like [this](Udigital 3RCA/AV/CVBS Composite & S-Video R/L Audio to HDMI Converter Adapter Upscaler Support 720P/1080P with 3RCA S-Video Cable for DVD/VCR/PS2/PS3/Xbox/HDTV Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0199I6L6A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_lsySzbFY7WVYB).

I really don't want to invest in an RGB SCART and Framemeister setup right now and even if I wanted to I probably couldn't for a few years. I also have no space for a CRT.

Blood Orchid

Can someone get me a very high quality of the startup screen for Blood Orchid? I can't seem to find any and if I take a screenshot on Xbox one it down scales it to 720p. One without the "press any button to start" would be better but if there's isn't it's okay
