Request for PC getting 32 vs. 32. It's only fair if Ps4 gets an "exclusive" VR mode...

I think at some point, we should get 32 vs 32 on PC (Atleast if not possible on ps4/xbox one) Here is why. This game is a multi platform game, but Ps4 will have an exclusive VR mode. If they get that (and not PC which makes 0 sense) Then PC should get 32 vs 32 seeing as how it can handle it as easy as battlefield. I know alot of console people, especially Xbox One users would be upset, but lets be honest.. In 2016, ya'll are playing Battlefront at 720p. That's crazy. I blame Microsoft's lack of foresight and vision for that, but it is what it is. This game will do better with more players. PC SHOULD get 32 vs 32. Can you imagine Walker assault with more players? Battlefront like Battlefield should be FIRST AND FOREMOST about the SCALE of the battle, not which game mode plays better for a limited amount of people. I absolutely love this game, but we need a big overhaul in thinking for how things are implemented. Imagine 30 vs 30 Fighter squadron with capital ships, or 32 vs 32 supremacy with 5-8 air vehicles being used by each team instead of 3... Or again, 32 vs 32 WALKER ASSAULT! It would be legendary! Consoles this generation didn't really think things through in terms of longevity, but that doesn't mean that the actual GAMES have to suffer those repercussions and be forced to play the same across consoles AND PC. This isn't a #PCMASTERRACE thing, as I think that's just stupid. This is a... It can AND SHOULD be done thing, especially when the game will already be altered for a specific console anyways. Thoughts?

Final Fantasy XI service ends on PS2 & Xbox 360 tomorrow; Windows recommended system requirements updated.

LED projectors and focus issues? Details within.

For starters, I really hope I am not asking a questions that's been asked a million times, I don't want to be 'that guy'..

Anyhow,

I currently own a LG PB63U, which is a LED projector that hits 720p, when I first got I was blown away, as I had never owned a projector previously.

The reason I got the projector was because it was LED and supposedly the bulb will last 30,000 hours as opposed to just 3,000.

However It's always had a focus issue, so lets say you turn on the Xbox, you get the picture focused, its not crystal clear and perfect.

10 mins in you'll notice that the picture has become un-focused, but oddly enough not all the way, just either on the top or bottom of the screen.

This happens with video games, movies, tv and internet browsing.

Is this just my projector? Is this an LED bulb issue in general?

Any help would be appreciated as I am currently looking to replace my projector and sticking with LED would be nice because of power consumption and again, bulb life.

Kodi, Moonlight, 360 controllers, Mounted network shares, and RetroPie v3.6

Alright, after several days of configurations I figured I would share my progress and also ask for a bit of help.

I have everything working as intended except for a slight hiccup.

So here are my configs and a guide for installation.

To begin, I installed the Kodi experimental package through the RetroPie configs. This is really easy, you just select RetroPie through EmulationStation, then go down to RetroPie-Configs, then to experimental packages, then select and install Kodi. Keep in mind that you need a Nvidia GPU for moonlight and I am unaware of anything similar for AMD. You'll want to upgrade/downgrade Nvidia Geforce Experience to 2.10 and enable SHIELD streaming under Preferences.

GeForce Experience 2.11 does NOT work.

Now, you need to switch to the CLI or use Putty/winSCP.

sudo nano /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg 

Edit that by adding:

<system> <name>kodi</name> <fullname>Kodi</fullname> <path>~/RetroPie/roms/kodi</path> <extension>.sh .SH</extension> <command>bash %ROM%</command> <platform>kodi</platform> <theme>kodi</theme> </system> 

and while we're there:

This will create kodi.ini under your /home/pi directory

Now to create start.sh in the same directory

sudo nano start.sh 

and fill that with

Now to create the actual command to run kodi through emulationstation

and fill with (if wireless 360 controller)

Now, kodi should be working with a controller... But it will be second controller if plugged in (slight hiccup from earlier)

Alright, I have a virtual server on my desktop for streaming videos. I'd imagine if you want kodi, you have something similar whether it's a virtual server, NAS, or whatever.

To mount those

sudo nano etc/fstab 

Then add a line to the bottom of that file that says

//SE.RV.ER.IP/FOLDER /media cifs username=SHAREFOLDERUSER,password=SHAREFOLDERPASS 0 0 

Obviously, you'll need to change what is in caps. My folders are not password protected, so anyone on my LAN can access them. You may have to dig around here for help with your particular set up.

Moving on to Moonlight.

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list 

Add in the following line

deb http://archive.itimmer.nl/raspbian/moonlight wheezy main 

Then ctrl+x, y, enter to save

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install moonlight-embedded mkdir ~/Moonlight cd ~/Moonlight moonlight pair YO.UR.PC.IP 

Now, you should get a 4 digit PIN, which you will need to go to your gaming rig and enter. There should be a prompt from Nvidia GeForce Experience on your desktop asking for it.

cd ~/RetroPie/roms/steam sudo nano steam.sh 

And I had trouble here with the controller triggers going off forever... So I toyed around with steam.sh and put this in there

#!/bin/bash moonlight stream YO.UR.PC.IP -720 -30fps -mapping /opt/retropie/configs/moonlight/controllername.map sudo /opt/retropie/supplementary/xboxdrv/bin/xboxdrv --daemon --id 0 --led 2 --deadzone 4000 --silent --trigger-as-button & 

Now, you will get an error here from the daemon, but it should work just fine. I couldn't figure out any other way to use that controller map with the triggers as buttons, without which any time you pull a trigger it will just go off continuously until you quit.

So, I hope this helps some people and if anyone has any suggestions for the 2nd controller issue with Kodi, please let me know!

720p TV ratio problems. I only have two aspect options on my TV.

Weird thing though, when I switch to HDMI 2, I have 5 different aspect options. It's only when I switch to whatever input my Xbox is plugged into that I'm only given two options. One of the aspects is ridiculous and I can't see anything, but the other is not that bad, but when I go to calibrate, I have no way of getting both box outlines within my screen perimeter. Please oh please help. This is a 720p Hitachi. 32 in.

Streaming PC, From XB1

Hi everyone,

Appreciate any help you can provide ahead of time. I have been out of the PC world for many, many moons. Recently, I started streaming from my Xbox One and I am really enjoying it. My channel is growing quite a bit and I continue to see myself grow and grow.

With that being said, I'd like to capture my Xbox One gameplay on a PC so I can use overlays. However, I have no idea what type of PC is even required for this...I know well enough that my simple Macbook Air (2014) doesn't have the right inners to do it.

Some clarifications;

• I will not be gaming on this PC. I will strictly be using it to capture XB1 gameplay.
• 720/30 is more than sufficient.
• Price is important. While I want to do this on the cheap, I don't want to invest in a new PC next year because this one can't keep up. I want to stay sub $1,000 if possible.

Frame rate issues on BC Xbox One.

So I love Reach,I've been playing invasion since the beta,I recently picked up an xbox one and the first thing I did was get into matchmaking with a friend (split screen,if it matters) after installing it. At first I thought my connection was bad but eventually I noticed the frames dropping every time there was an explosion or a few players in my area. I've seen a few posts about it,but dropping to 720 didn't really seem to help and that was the only solution I could find. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there an update on it's way or something I can do to fix it?

Problems after updating to RetroPie 3.6: Advmame won't detect Xbox 360 controller, video output ratios can't be changed

Hi /r/RetroPie,

I finally updated to 3.6. I followed every step in the official guide in the exact order and used the binary update. It went just fine and there were no errors, but I've run into a few issues now that I'm up and running:

• Advmame no longer detects my wireless Xbox 360 controller. All of the other emulators work with my Xbox controller, but not Advmame. It worked prior to the update. I've tried to disable, then re-enable the Xbox 360 controller drivers via the Setup menu. Didn't work. I can connect a keyboard and access the control binds, but Advmame won't respond to my controller key presses at all. I tried ssing the newer version of Advmame via the ROM launch configuration menu (I think it's Advmame 1.4?) and also rebooted the Pi.
• All of my ROMS only play in the old 640 x 480 video output mode, and it won't respond to any of the changes that I've tried to make to the default output mode. Even when I set it to 1280 x 720, it only displays 640 x 480

I'm using: Raspberry Pi 2 Model B RetroPie 3.6

Any suggestions?

New Magnavox flatscreen has volume fading issues?

Hello, everyone! I just purchased a brand new, 43" Magnavox LED Flatscreen television. I was using my previous tv primarily for Xbox and occasionally Netflix. I bought the new TV purely for a size upgrade (went from 32 inch 720p to 43 inch 1080p).

But, now I'm having an issue. My girlfriend and I enjoy playing Rock Band 4 pretty loud. We were extremely excited, hooked up the new TV, plugged up the Xbox.. Only to find that the audio fades and fluctuates throughout the playable songs!

For example, (keep in mind, we always keep the volume at max).. While scrolling through the song list, the preview audio is so loud, we have to practically yell to hear one another, even while only 3 feet apart. Once we get into the game, the audio is still loud. As more instruments and sounds come into play, the music volume drops DRASTICALLY. At parts in the song where there are no instruments, and only vocals, the vocals are extremely loud. But once the instruments come back, the collective volume drops again. This ONLY happens when PLAYING a song. NOT when listening to the same song on the selection screen.

I've been googling for hours, and have tried turning off/on the auto volume adjustment. I've changed EQ settings until my thumbs bleed. I've changed HDMI ports and factory reset and changed stereo/mono settings. I'm at a complete loss.

My tiny 32 inch Vizio NEVER fluctuated volume. It was always loud when I had the volume up. This TV seems to lower its own volume depending on how much music/sound is coming through? I'll put it this way..

Imagine a techno/dub step song. Before the bass drop = loud as hell. Once the bass drop hits = SUPER quiet. Once the music calms down = loud as hell once more.

Any ideas or solutions? I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read or respond.

Just a small question. 720p vs 1080p vsync/framerate

Hi! I am outputting image via hdmi to pc monitor and noticed something interesting. I was always playing on 1080p in console settings but I bought some older games and they behave weirdly.

Lost PLanet Colonies edition works like 15fps in 1080p. Framerrate is much better in 720p. For all I knew up to this point, games are rendered internally and console resolution setting shouldnt affect anything. but it does in this case,. And Dead rising have plenty of tearing at 1080p and none at 720p,

Anyone with Lost Planet colonies (not sure if it affects standard lost planet) can quickly check out if framerate differs from 1080p to 720? just run score attack and start mission one(the one that starts in snow after prologue)

Help Recording Live Commentaries With (and without) Friends

WARNING: This isn't your normal Recording problems, this has many variables and is really pissing me off.

At the moment, my set-up is a shitty laptop with an extra monitor plugged in through hdmi, then my Xbox (the thing I'm recording) is on the other side of the room where i can see it if I'm looking at my computer. The Xbox is all wired up over there with an Elgato Game Capture which has a 5 metre USB going from the Elgato to my laptop. My laptop is so shitty that I can't properly record in 1080p without it fucking up. This mean all my normal captures are in 720p 30fps. When I'm playing my Xbox, i need to turn around my seat 180 degreease, while my Game Capture runs on the monitor BEHIND ME.

Now I know what your thinking, "Can't you just bring your Xbox over to your desk?" No. My desk is fucking tiny. It can bairly fit a laptop, extra monitor and speakers and mouse and shit.

Yesterday, i found an old television of mine from years ago. Now, most people would think, "Hey, here is an extra monitor. It might be shitty because it's just a television but oh well..." I can't fit it on my desk and my laptop only has one output port, a hdmi getting used by the other monitor.

I thought to myself that I could put the old TV beside the new one that my xbox is on then run a 5 metre HDMI to it from my laptop. So I went on amazon and bought a 5 metre HDMI and set my crazy idea up.

I got it all up and (surprize) it looked stupid, but it would get the job done so it didnt matter. So, i have GTA up on my Xbox going to my Big Television and I have Audacity & Elgato Game Capture up on my old shitty TV. I had both them up because I've had instences of them both fucking up while recording.

It's a shitty set-up but it gets the job done...FOR LIVE COMMENTARY BY MYSELF.

I get on Dsicord with my buddy so we can try and record something together. I stick on my headphones going into my laptop...and I don't hear him, but I can see he's talking on Discord.

It turns out ALL AUDIO FROM THE LAPTOP WAS GOING THOROUGH THE OLD TELEVISION. I audably shout "FUCK IT" and switch off all my devices and just lie down and cry because of my shitty set-up. This can all be fixed though...

Here is my Question.

Is there anyway of having audio ONLY from a certain program go through PC instead of my Shitty, Old, Bettered-Up fuckin' TV.

My theory on what Nintendo's strategy for NX is, based on patents, comments, and possible insider info revealed as a result of the fakes.

Hello everyone. We all want to know more about NX, but it doesn't look like anything is coming anytime soon. However, there are a few facts that can be considered together to create a clearer picture of what Nintendo's planning. All of this is under the assumption that there will be at least two NX devices running the same OS, as Iwata hinted long ago.

I'll start by saying this: I personally believe that the patent that the fakes were based on are close to what we'll actually see from the NX. In other words, no face buttons. I doubt that the Game Informer guy received bad info or lied. That said, the patent was for a handheld, not a controller. Additionally, the patent mentions additional physical buttons on the back of it as well as having grips. I think that, at best, the NX Portable (hereby referred to as NXP) will end up being almost exactly like the patent, at best with two face buttons and haptic touch otherwise. It also won't look as sleek as the second fake did. I expect a screen resolution of approximately 1260x540.

So, what of the console? Mr. Miyamoto offered some very important input on the matter after E3 last year [in an interview[(http://www.npr.org/sections/alltechconsidered/2015/06/19/415568892/q-a-shigeru-miyamoto-on-the-origins-of-nintendos-famous-characters).

So unfortunately with our latest system, the Wii U, the price point was one that ended up getting a little higher than we wanted. But what we are always striving to do is to find a way to take novel technology that we can take and offer it to people at a price that everybody can afford. And in addition to that, rather than going after the high-end tech spec race and trying to create the most powerful console, really what we want to do is try to find a console that has the best balance of features with the best interface that anyone can use.

According to this, Wii U's Gamepad caused them to set the price higher than they really wanted to. This implies that Nintendo may want to offer NX at a cheaper price point than Wii U. Unfortunately, it also sounds like they still have no interest in putting out a competitively powerful console. The still want to be "unique" with some sort of gimmick... such as a freeform touchscreen controller with haptic feedback and no physical buttons. From this and other sections of the interview, I've come to the conclusion that the NX Console (NXC) will be significantly weaker than XBox One in order to hit a price point of $250. (By the way, while I'm on the subject, it's not reasonable to expect a console SoC with 14/16nmFF technology this year from any company due to yields needing another year or so to get where they need to. The upgraded versions of PS4 and XBO might be able to do it since shortages won't hurt them too badly, but I think both of them will wait until spring or summer next year, though MS might aim for this holiday still.) This is the price that brought them success with the Wii, after all. If you're hoping for a powerful console, you are going to be disappointed.

Now, you've probably noticed something quite strange here. How could Nintendo possibly offer such an advanced controller and still hit a $250 price?This is the major part of my theory. I've narrowed it down to two possibilities, and I'll leave it to you guess which is more likely. What should be noted is that, in both cases, the NXP is the unique controller for the NXC. Not something similar, but the controller itself. This would explain why the patent only mentions a handheld, and why that Andy guy from GI didn't specify that he hear the controller would lack face buttons. From here, I see two scenarios for how the NX will be sold.

Scenario #1

• NXP - $150-200 (somewhere in that range)
• NXC with standard controller - $250
• NXC + NXP bundle - $400

This is probably the scenario that most people would want. It would mean that, at the very least, XBox One ports could run at 720p and reduced settings, assuming that the XBox One version runs at 900p. This might be a bit of dream scenario and not even possible though. In this case, while most games made by Nintendo, indies, and devs that make otherwise less demanding titles would be shared between the two form factors. A few Nintendo games and most AAA ports would only be playable at home, however.

Scenario #2 (grab a seat and think happy thoughts)

• NXP - $150-200
• NXP with [a microconsole acting as the NXC] - $250

This is, unfortunately, what I think will end up happening if Nintendo really is planning two devices. Both devices would use the exact same SoC ([which is supported by the fact that AMD only has three semicustom designs in development and two of them have to be the XBO+ and the PS4k respectively), though the home unit would run it at higher clockspeeds. The home unit would not be able act on its own, instead requiring the handheld to work with it and provide increased performance. Both units would be a little more powerful than Wii U individually, and combine should be able to offer at least 50% higher performance than Wii U, possibly around twice as powerful. That is, sadly, not very much. I'm expecting a bigger jump than the GameCube -> Wii transition, but possible a smaller one than even XBO -> XBO+. So, gimmicky controller and a lack of power, but at a lower price. The bright side is that this would mean a single library, which will be playable on the handheld on the go or at 1080p at home with identical or better graphical settings and no performance loss. Still, it would mean that there wouldn't be any other controller options. With that said, I would not rule out the console being able to work on its own completely, though it would obviously suffer from lower performance than when paired with the handheld. If that is possible, I'd expect a price not much higher than the PSTV.

So, there you have it. I personally feel that the only way one of these things won't happen is if Nintendo is intentionally misleading us somewhere. I feel like I missed something, but I always do. :/ If you want me to clarify any of my points, feel free to ask. Also feel free to call me wrong, dumb, or drunk. Don't call me Shirley though. PS3 only recording bug

I've got a weird bug with using Game Capture HD where the PS3 displays on the TV correctly at 1020p resolution, and I'm recording at 720p on the software. When I record the video however, there's a huge amount of frame dropping that occurs, no matter what game is being played. I'm just using Elgato's supplied PS3 input chord, no HDMI splitters or anything.

Frame dropping is a pretty common issue new elgato users have, what makes this one weird is that I don't have this issue at all recording an Xbox 360. This is only happening on the PS3, and nothing else.

I even tried reducing the display settings to 720p to match the recording output but nothing's improved.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

So today I turned on my Xbox 360 for the first time after I bought a PC

Before I had my laptop, I had a Xbox 360. After last Christmas, the thing has mostly been sitting idle in my living room. Today I turned it on and threw a couple games in it.

Far Cry 4 for the Xbox 360 is a mediocre game. It renders at 720p as far as I could tell, and playing with a controller is much harder then it used to be.

Forza Horizon 1 is the game most optimized for this piece of last gen hardware that I own -- and it still runs like a beauty. It's great, and I hopped back into it like usual.

Fallout 3/NV were both ridiculously hard to play, because I was so used to PC. I played Fallout 3 more because I didn't have it on PC.

Skyrim was... something. Again, a little harder then before, but besides that, I was so far ahead on console then on PC. Fun.

I gave a couple of EDF titles a whirl, and that was fun. TPS' are not bad.

Batman Arkham City and Origins were right at home for me. I play with controllers on both platforms. City was easy to jump into, Origins was not, because I don't own that disaster on PC. It was a gift, so I can't really complain.

Halo 3/3 ODST/Reach/4 were easy enough. Same case with Far Cry 4 about the controller issue.

MKvDC was meh. Again, another gift to me for my birthday. Can't complain.

I did try this game called Ace Combat 6, which to my surprise, was actually a good game. It took a while to get through one mission. Still, it actually looked really good, considering it came out in 2007/2008.

Minecraft was very... difficult to play, to say the least. I stopped playing it on PC once I started building up a Steam library, but at heart, Minecraft will always be a favorite for me, because it was my first PC game.

After all of that I went back to my laptop and went positive in CSGO. Then I dicked around on Just Cause 2 at a smooth 56 FPS. I don't think I'd ever sell this 360, just because everyone's on to next-gen already, and my somewhat limited library of games should suffice until this thing truly dies. Thanks for reading!

Streaming 1080p on the Xbox 360 - which apps and what versions of the console can do it?

Recently upgraded from a 720p to 1080p television. Had always been streaming Netflix and HBO at 720p before. Was expecting better resolution streaming but everything is still 720p.

I've been on 15 megabit satellite for 24 hours and I can already tell that I'm going to hit my data cap before the month is out. Netflix is going all the way to 720 and I think Hulu is 480, so the streaming quality is still too high for different reasons.

I am perfectly content with 360p and I can't seem to force the quality down at all. I've selected "low" on the Netflix website but it doesn't seem like my selection is being honored at all on the XBox One app, and Hulu doesn't seem to have a quality option at all unlike their web player.

Submit your clips for our new propagandistic video!

G'day legionnaires! I'm the new public relations artist, willing to spread our epic experiences and actions all around the galaxy through propagandistic posters and videos. I'll get to the point: I need some clips of us destroying Emperor's enemies (other CMDR's) in order to create a montage. No matter on which platform you play or what ship you fly, everyone's welcome! Just a few requirements are required, btw, to maintain a certain quality of the montage:

• clips MUST be in 720p (1280x720) or higher;
• a single combat SHOULD NOT be longer than 5 minutes, and with that I mean pure combat without supercruising/interdicting (that's to maintain a good flow in the montage, but that rule could be bypassed if the clip is really good);
• clips should be full of action, so don't submit annoying stuff where you kill a surrendered enemy, or a enemy in a very weak ship;
• clips MUST be raw (they could be cut, but not adjusted with curves, color correction, etc.);
• clips MUST have the original audio, WITHOUT ANY MUSIC IN BACKGROUND (not too loud commentaries should be ok, though)

If your clip respects all the requirements, just send me a link to the youtube video/xbox dvr video, and I'll do the rest (Be sure to write your CMDR name with the link, so I'll add you to the credits in the video, or something like that). If you have a channel where you post a lot of pvp videos and don't want to bother too much with me, just give me the permission to use your clips and I'll choose your clips by myself.
