Rocket League to add video capture, and visual settings in 2018 Spring Roadmap - Link
In a blog post on their official website, Rocket League developers announced the updates that will be arriving to their game in Spring 2018. Most of the changes affect every platform, like the end of season 6 and the start of season 7, plus a new tournament mode that will first arrive as a BETA on Steam, but will later be added to all platforms. "Tournaments Mode" will allow you to compete against other players in bracketed, single elimination tournaments. If you look at the Switch specific changes arriving in Spring, you'll be happy to find out that a Video Capture option will be arriving in the near future. Another huge change to the Switch version is visual options; this will allow you to switch between a Performance focused visual setting, or a Quality focused visual setting. To be more specific "Performance mode" will be "900p (Docked) / 720p (Handheld) @ 60 FPS with infrequent dynamic resolution scaling", and "Quality mode" will be "Native 1080p (Docked) / 720p (Handheld) @ 30 FPS with added visual effects". This will be great for the players who don't really care for 60 frames and prefer a nicer looking experience; I'll personally be sticking with 60FPS, but I like the addition of extra options. The Video Capture feature is just a must, and I can't wait for it to arrive! You can read the full list of changes in the Spring 2018 Roadmap above.
"Nintendo Financial Briefing" shows off surprising figures and comparisons - Console Figures Link - Game Sales Figures Link
In an annual "Financial Briefing", Nintendo disclosed the official sales figures for their platforms and game sales. This will be the first time that the figures are officially revealed and so there is no need for speculation anymore! I'll start the summary of by saying that the Switch has officially outsold the WiiU with a total of 14.86 million units sold, compared to the WiiU's 13.56 million. The next huge statistic, is that Mario Odyssey, MK8 DX, and Zelda BOTW have all sold over 5 million units each (9.07, 7.33, 6.70 million respectfully). News Editor for Eurogamer, Tom Phillips, collated the Mario Odyssey figures with Battlefront 2 figures and discovered that Odyssey has sold more copies on Switch than Battlefront 2 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One combined...well deserved, in my opinion. All in all, the figures, although quite close to the expected figures, are an amazing feat for Nintendo and I can't wait to see what they do in the near future, especially after it was announced that there are "Unannounced Peripheral Devices" coming in the future for the Switch.
RiME developer update reveals upcoming plans - Link
You may remember the game RiME for being that game that was released in an incredibly unplayable state. After a couple of months after being on sale, the game is still in a awful state and the developers have been quite quiet during the whole thing, other than releasing a couple of blog posts discussing possible solutions. Well today, in another blog post, the developers revealed that they have submitted a new patch for RiME that is currently awaiting approval from Nintendo. Although this patch may fix the problems of RiME on Switch, the developers don't seem too optimistic that the patch will be accepted because the size of the new update is larger than what they usually accept. Even though this is a little disheartening, the fact that the patch is this large really shows the commitment that the developers have with the Switch version of the game. There isn't any information regarding specific patch details, but here's hoping Nintendo approve the update so we can finally play the game without becoming sick...or giving up.
Game Announcements/Updates:
Death Road To Canada - Announcement - Website - Trailer - April 2018
At first, I thought it was a more developed version of Organ Trail, but then the trailer became a little more intense pretty quickly. On their website Death Road To Canada is "a Randomly Generated Road Trip Action-RPG. You have to manage a car full of jerks as they explore cities, find weird people, and face up to 500 zombies at once. Everything's randomised: locations, events, survivor personalities. There's a different story every time you play.". Although I noticed that is was released onto mobile platforms, the gameplay looks genuinely fun to play. They seemed to have put quite a bit of development time into the port, including couch co-op and more unique features for the Switch release. However, I'm starting to think that the randomised levels and generation of items may start to become a little repetitive; we'll just have to see when it releases sometime in April this year.
Crypt of the NecroDancer - Announcement - eShop Link - Website - Original Launch Trailer - 1st February 2018 (TOMORROW)
On the 15th January 2018, I published the daily news and within the announcement section, I posted that Crypt of the Necrodancer will see a JAPAN ONLY release on the 1st February 2018. There was ZERO word from developer and publisher about an international release. Until now...24 hours until the game is released. It will be released on the 1st February in Japan and NA, and in one week (8th February), it will release in Europe! Now to say I'm surprised would be an understatement, because if you go back to the Switch 101 post about the original reveal, you can read the disappointment in my words at the fact that Europe weren't seeing a release of this beautiful game. However, now I'm happy, so it's all good. I should probably mention if you're all confused, Crypt of the Necrodancer is a hardcore rhythm-based roguelike...it's actually amazing and is definitely worth your attention when it releases tomorrow; or next week!

Giveaway (Ending on the 07/02/18 at 11:59PM):
I've decided that I'm going to be holding a giveaway, to thank you for your continued support! The giveaway will be in the form of a puzzle that you will have to solve to win. All of the users who PM me the solution with all of the necessary steps to achieve the solution, will be added to a random pot to win a physical copy of This is the Police. I know it's quite small, but this is my first giveaway so if this one goes well...I'll probably do another one.
Like I said, if you find the solution, message me with the final solution PLUS all of the steps necessary to achieve that solution. If you simply message me the solution without proof, you will not be added to the pot at the end. The final date of solution submission is 1 week from today (07/02/18 at 11:59PM). Unfortunately, I will not be accepting submissions from recently created accounts, to combat re-submissions; and I hold the right to withdraw submissions which are suspected to be fraudulent or illegitimate.
Hope you like the puzzle and I can't wait to see if any of you actually solve it! (If no one solves it before the deadline, I'll post the solution the following day, 08/02/18). As a hint I would recommend using a computer instead of a mobile device as that can distort the picture quality.

Closing Statement:
Ohhh...I'm doing a giveaway! Hope you find the puzzle interesting and I'm excited to hear your proposed solutions. Anyway, today has been quite a good one, with Nintendo revealing all of their sales figures. With official confirmation that the Switch has outsold the WiiU, I no longer need to keep posting about it when another company think it's happened; Some incredible figures for Odyssey, BOTW and MK8 also! Tomorrow, we will see the release of a billion games so look forward to a long post...and a review of a mystery game from me!
As always, thanks to all the reddit users who have given me permission to use their posts from earlier today!
One of my mates doesn't think any of you will solve the puzzle...prove him wrong Reddit. See you all tomorrow!
Sam ;)
