OSSC Advice Much Appreciated

Dear fellow retro gamers!

After bouncing off the PS2 nostalgia trip a couple of times due to using a massive HDTV with horrible input lag, I've suddenly got completely hooked (on Champions of Norrath of all things) and I'm looking for some suggestions on how to optimise the experience.

Background: Phat PS2+FMCB+160GB HDD --> Scart RGB --> Scart to HDMI upscaler/converter --> HDMI switch (for ps2/ps3+xbox) --> a PG348Q 34" ultrawide PC monitor. I did try using a wireless controller but the quality is super suspect on most of them and settled on using a classic controller with a cable extender. With a few tweaks to the colours/brightness/saturation it looks pretty good. The only other thing I can try is GSM but I didn't have any luck getting that to work. I also noticed that the picture is slightly stretched as it's going from 480i (i think) and being upscaled to 720p.

The biggest thing I'm wondering about, with an OSSC winging its way to my house as we speak is how i'm going to go about setting up my softmodded (free mcboot, gsm etc) PS2 with my ASUS PG348Q ultrawide. I also have a 1440p monitor but that only has DVI-D in.

The Framemeister would also have been an option but I just can't afford it right now. Any tips on what I can do to optimise picture quality?
