I know this is probably not news for you guys, but I just heard of this today and couldn't help it but praise Microsoft for how good they are doing things with the Xbox One X.
You see, I own a regular PS4 since 2015. I had for a brief while (from 2014-2015) a regular Xbox One. I sold it because I wasn't using it (no exclusives other than Forza and Halo MCC). I've since then built a 8700K/1080Ti desktop, so gaming has been good.
Since I have this desktop I also bought a 1440p, 144Hz, FreeSync monitor to go with it (freesync doesnt work tho, because of the 1080 Ti). I haven't upgraded to the PS4 Pro because it doesn't support 1440p. You either have a 4K monitor or get stuck with 1080p. And although the PS4 Pro can supersample at 1080p, I find it ridiculous that it has games like Uncharted 4 at 1440p, and then supersamples them (and outputs at) 1080p, for my 1440p monitor. I thought the X was like this. Then i've read they will support 1440p natively. Even freesync maybe. How amazing is this?
This, alongside the fact that the Xbox is retrocompactible and will have some 360 games running at 4K... Man, this is amazing. Running Gears of War, Halo Reach and Red Dead Redemption with better resolutions than the 720p of the time... The dream is alive!
So, in conclusion, I wanted to thank Microsoft for everything they have been doing for gamers. It's awesome that they are trying to cather to every market, even the '1440p niche' people such as myself. I will follow closely as things develop and my interest in an Xbox One X is now present. Hope by next year all of this is implemented and I can play RDR at 1440p!
Cheers!
