Needing some help me getting the most out of my current setup with a new KS8000

I currently have an old bluray/surround system with an xbox one hooked in the back and going to one input on the tv. Not sure if it's much help but my bluray surround system is the same as in this vid. https://youtu.be/uCD61MyPDAw?t=2m19s

Dated model and I can't find the model number. I think I broke off the piece that showed what it is. Whenever I turn on the tv it always shows the resolution as 720x480 even though i have the bluray player set to 1080p. At some point this year I'm going to get a 4k player but until then how can i maximize with what I'm using? Thanks
