r/TechSupport Single PC for Streaming CPU Upgrade

...

So I'm running a 3 years old DP67BG motherboard. As I'm sometimes streaming on Twitch with a single pc setup, I'm looking to upgrage my CPU for better perfomances for OBS.

My options are;

Option #1; 300$- Upgrading from a i5-2500 to a CPU i7-3770S, while keeping my DP67BG Motherboard.

...OR...

Option #2; 350$ + 150$=500$ - Upgrading my Motherboard with a Gigsbyte Z97 to then upgrade my CPU to a more standard setup for streamers; i7-4790K.

Problem is I do no have a big budget and I'm looking to get the best for a short amount of time since I'm looking to stream on a dual pc set-up within the next year. The streaming pc will then most likely be a top notch i7 CPU with a good motherboard.

So my real question is;

Is it worth that much to invest 500$ for a new Motherboard + i7-4790K, instead of just spending 300$ for a i7-3770S, while keeping my good old DP67BG Motherboard.

tx in advance!

& my Current set-up is;

OS; Windows 7, GPU; Zotac GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256BIT DDR5; CPU; Intel i5-2500 @ 3.30 GHz; RAM; 8 GB (2x4GB PC3-10600 CL9 240), Power Supply ; EVGA supernova NEX750B, Corsair 120GB Sata3 SD-Drive Seagate 3TB internal hard drive.

Monitor #1; BenQ BL3200PT WQHD 60 Hz 1440p, Monitor #2 & #3 ; Samsung SyncMaster 216BW 720p, Xenyx 302USB Beringer Mixer, PDMIC78 Microphone, Logitech USB Headset H390, Logitech Gaming Mouse G300, Logitech G13 Advance Gameboard, Cooler Master Quick FIre Strealth Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Sony Playstation 3 Navigation Controller, XBOX360 Wired Controller.

App running for streaming; OBS MultiPlatform 0.11.3, Snaz, Twitch Alerts, Deepbot, Chatty & Chrome !
