**What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.**
Two main uses. Primarily as a workstation running various intensive "stock trading" software. Currently use a laptop that struggles in this department. 16GB is not enough memory now as well.
Second, 4K Gaming. Im looking to play AAA games after being an XBOX user for many years. Also a heavy Battlefield player and sick of getting creamed my PC users :)
>**What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?**
3000-3500 CAD
>**When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.**
As soon as possible.
**What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc\)**
Just the PC itself.
>**Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?**
Im located in Toronto, Canada
>**If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.**
Reusing my Corsair k65 keyboard, Razer Deathadder mouse, and monitors.
>**Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?**
Im not looking to overclock my CPU or GPU. Only looking to take advantage of advertised memory overclocks.
>**Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)**
Nothing specific other than Intel platform and noise levels kept to a respectable level. Ideally near silent under light loads
>**Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?**
The Lian Li 011 dynamic looks like a cool case but Im not set on anything. Im budgeting around $200-250CAD for the case.
Standard ATX
>**Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?**
No. Will be installing W11
**Extra info or particulars:**
Im looking to go Intel on this build. It seems to be an extremely awkward time for the intel platform with the switch to DDR5 which I am on the fence about. DDR5 doesnt see massive increases relative to cost. On the other hand, DDR4 seems to be on the way out. My reference point is that I purchased a laptop with ddr3 memory in 2018 and regretted it.
I saw an Asus Strix z690-F & Corsair Vengeance 5600mhz Cl36 ram package deal for $720 CAD pre tax but apparently that level of DDR5 ram isnt worth it?
Definitely looking for advice from people more knowledgeable than myself. Its been a decade since I last built a PC and Im still catching up on current tech
EDIT: Willing to stretch to $4000 with 13% HST
