Ok so first post here. I lucked out and purchased an Xbox Series S from Best Buy online. It’s confirmed and I have it. This happened on Saturday morning. They were doing a drop every 5 minutes or so and I snagged one for my son thinking I would never score a Series S. After I paid for it and got my order confirmation I thought what the hell I’ll try for the Series X also. So after a couple minutes the Series X became available and so I clicked add to cart and low and behold it let me purchase it. So now I have both consoles.

Info about my son. He’s 12 years old and loves to play. He’s a great student and works hard. He did not ask for a new console but had admitted that “it would be pretty cool to have a next gen console but he understands that they are expensive”. This was the main reason I wanted to be able to purchase one for him. As far as gaming he loves play COD, Forza, and stuff like that. He does play on Live. His current and only unit he has had is the Xbox One from 2013. Current TV is an older non smart TV Samsung that is not 4K. That could change though as his mother has two 4K Samsung’s in her house and he could end up playing on one of them. He does have some games that that are still on discs but I have the digital only One S at my house that he plays on when he’s with me and the non disc drive doesn’t seem to be an issue.

So my thoughts are to give him either the new X or S and sell the other ( not at the scalping prices ). Or keep both and maybe replace my One S with the Series S and then sell my One S for whatever they are selling for. I don’t think that option makes a ton of sense considering I’m only a casual gamer and my TV is an old 720p Vizio and I don’t think that I would see the advantage of a next gen console anyway. As long as Halo Infinite is available on the One S I am happy.

So what’s the opinion here?

Give my son the Series X and sell the Series S Or Give my son the Series S and sell the Series X Or Give my son the Series X and I keep the Series S to replace my year old One S (even though I’m not but a casual gamer on an old 720 Vizio)
