Sony confirms that it's XH90 4k TV's are "ready for next gen consoles"

I'll get right to the point. In addition I'm no expert either but based on info available below and online. "Moreover, the XH90 series will support 120 FPS gaming, which Sony claims will be "ready for next-generation consoles"This feature will be enabled via a software update." taken from notebookcheck.net on 18th of may 2020.

(More info can also be found on flatpanelshd.com such as "In addition, X900H (XH90) will be the first Sony TV to offer support for HDMI 2.1's VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). The former is variable refresh rate for smoother, lag-free gameplay via a PC or game console (must also support VRR). The latter allows the TV to automatically switch into 'Game' mode when it detects a game via HDMI. These features will be added through a future software update for X900H (XH90) only."

The xh90,Xh95 and a8 TV's from Sony will run two types of max out puts:

[VIDEO SIGNAL SUPPORT HDMI™ signal :4096x2160p(24,50,60Hz), 3840x2160p(24,25,30,50,60Hz), 1080p(30,50,60,100,120Hz), 1080/24p, 1080i(50,60Hz), 720p(30,50,60Hz), 720/24p, 576p, 480p]

As you can see there is no 4k 120hz at best we will play games at 4k60hz or 1080p120hz

Hdmi 2.1, HDR 10bit. In addition there is 8k upscaling

The z9g 85inch 8k TV outputs:

VIDEO SIGNAL SUPPORTHDMI™ signal :7680x4320p(24,25,30Hz), 4096x2160p(24,50,60Hz), 3840x2160p(24,25,30,50,60,100,120Hz), 1080p(30,60,120Hz), 1080/24p, 1080i(60Hz), 720p(30,60Hz), 720/24p, 480p

Just to remind everyone $20k aud, $11k GBP, $14k usd and $12k euro for the z9g 85inch 8k tv

As mentioned ps5 would/can upscale to 8k 30hz . It would be nice but won't happen for the general console/pc consumer/gamers -> but the z9g 8k TV also outputs to 4k 120hz (remember this TV is for cinephiles.

I don't think there will be any other resolutions (1080p or 4k) but I'm hopeful for people that use monitors. I used to use a TV now a monitor for console gaming

The above applies to Xbox series X

TLDR: New Sony TV outputs 4k60hz or 1080p120hz there is no 4k120hz but only on the expensive Sony 8k z9g tv has 4k120hz which not every person will buy. sony is aiming at the general public market.

Long story short Games will run at 4k30hz upscaled to 8k 4k60hz base and 1080p120hz base this is what I believe.
