As PC gamer, I am excited to play Halo with my trusty mouse and keyboard again, right where I feel most at home. There is one field where the original Halo games are still notably absent though. Handheld and mobile.
While both Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike were great for mobile phones. I feel as though we need the opportunity to play, at least, the original games through the Master Chief Collection on a real handheld system. Which I am sure the Master Chief Collection and other Halo titles will show up on X-Cloud for iOS and Android, but a natively running MCC on a portable with Joysticks like the Nintendo Switch would be way preferred.
There are a 3 major concerns I would have with bringing the MCC to Switch. First and foremost, network performance, would NEED to be handled through XBOX Live with crossplay, like Minecraft already does on Switch, Nintendo’s online service on a game like Halo would be a nightmare. Second of all, gameplay performance, making sure the games run at 60 FPS should be the priority, maybe classic graphics at 1080 (or 900p) docked and native 720 mobile while the remastered graphics would run at 720 docked and 480 handheld. Lastly, controls, like most PC gamers I actually fell in love with Splatoon 2’s precise motion aiming mechanic, having them on Halo MCC for Switch would be a must.
Maybe then we would get Master Chief with an Arbiter echo fighter in the next Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fighter Pass. Master Chief belongs up there with Mario, Link, Samus, Snake, Cloud, Sonic, Simon Belmont, Etc. Having Halo present on Switch and Chief in Smash might make iy smart to bring the Japanese community to Halo and to hype up Halo Infinite for the next Xbox worldwide.
