First Time Playing through Assassin's Creed, some questions

I love history and have decided to play through all of the AC games on PC via Steam starting with the first one, and in order of release.

Some Basic Questions (still in the very beginning of the game)

1. Does scaling the towers to get "view points" unlock anything such as extra memories?
2. What are these "memory glitches" ? Where it shows one scene happen and then a different alternate version of that scene. Will there be an explanation later? (If so then please don't spoil it for me)
3. On the PC Steam version I can only up the resolutions to to 1280 x 720 - does anyone know how to up it higher? Or will that make the text too small?
4. Also I'm using an XBOX 360 controller but it doesn't seem like there's any rumble... is that normal? I have vibration on in the options
