PS4 controllers won't connect to my PC. (using DS4Windows)

Description of problem

I've been using my two Dualshock 4 controllers to play games on my PC. I used a software called DS4Windows to get Windows to recognize the controllers as Xbox controllers, enabling me to use them wirelessly or wired. As of a few months ago, they wouldn't show up as connected when I tried to connect them. In an attempt to fix the problem, I unpaired them, and tried to re-pair them with my PC. After unpairing them, they wouldn't connect through Bluetooth. They work fine using a micro-USB cable, but not with Bluetooth. Here's screenshots of what it looks like when I try to pair them. https://imgur.com/YeH0gZ3 https://imgur.com/9tCOFky

Other relevant info

Before the issue began, they would show up in Bluetooth devices as "Wireless Controller", but now they show up as "Input". Also, when I connect them using a micro-USB cable, they get detected as audio devices, but not as a game controller.

When this issue began

The issue began a couple months ago. I don't know what triggered it. Before that, they worked perfectly fine.

Recurring issue

Yes

Cause/Steps to recreate the issue

This issue occurs whenever I try and pair the controllers with my PC.

What I've tried so far to resolve the issue

I tried resetting the controllers with the small button in the back. I tried re-installing the controller drivers for DS4Windows. I tried resetting my PC back to factory settings.

[Tech] Warm or faded display (Xbox One S)

Equipment -TV TCL 43" Class 4K (2160P) Roku Smart LED TV (43S405) with HDR -Xbox one s

Originally had a junko visio 720 24 inch tv running with my xbox one s. Was working okay if you want to call playing off of 24 inches okay. Have not had the xbox long and it was bought brand new.

Well recently I had bought the above TV and it displays wonderfully. Was playing good for the first bit. After some time it started to look like a warm setting or faded gray. If I opened up the TV menu it displays perfectly. If i watch a movie through the TV apps it displays perfectly. I go back to the xbox and it is messed up still.

Times I notice it go bad -Startup -Switching xbox apps/games -Switching off 4k

Things I notice can fix it temporarily: -Rebooting xbox -Hard rebooting xbox -Reconnecting HDMI cord -Swapping back and forth on apps in xbox -Going into xbox settings and turn off 4k and turn it back on -Swapping HDMI ports in the TV

I have seen other threads on this but they have all gone archived and cannot respond to. These same threads also don't really have any real resolutions or cases with my style TV. Wondering if anyone else has seen this with a TCL 4k TV. One thing I want to try to see is if I can change the input to PC mode when I get home if my TV has that option.

Roxio Game Capture HD! I must be doing something wrong here right?

This is a copy of the email I sent to Corals Tech about 4 days ago and have yet to get a response, I was hoping maybe you fellow gamer folk may have had this issue before INB4 why did you not buy an Elgato? I know I should have now.

I have set up the capture card as specified, an HDMI (which is not HDCP but does work with the Xbox One) is running from the output of the Xbox one to the input of the RGC, with the Xbox One HDCP HDMI connected to the output of the RGC then into the HDMI input of my monitor, lastly the provided USB cable is connected to the USB port on the RGC then into a USB 2.0 port on the back of my desktop. All of which are as follows in the videos you have attached. As for the RGC being recognized by my PC as "Roxio Video Capture USB" attached is the photo you have asked for, I had already gone through and uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers to see if that was the issue.

Here a list of troubleshooting I have already attempted.

  1. Uninstalling using REVO and reinstalling the software using both the disk and the File provided on your website (making sure the RGC was disconnected).
  2. Running the repair tool after reinstalling the software (making sure the RGC was disconnected).
  3. Running the software on each update (1, 2.01, and 3.0).
  4. Running the software in compatibility mode for windows 7, 8, and 10.
  5. Making sure all of my systems drivers are up to date as well as my GPU's Drivers (All of which are left at the default settings).
  6. Changing the display settings on the Xbox One to 720p and 1080p (making sure to turn of Auto-Detect), as well as settings on the Xbox One to Energy Saving.
  7. Shutting down and Re-opening the Software trying to get the Xbox One to connect.
  8. Power-cycling each system multiple ways (Xbox-Monitor, Xbox-RGC, Xbox-PC-RGC, Ect)

Softmod help, error on boot

Could anybody help me with this, I'm not really familiar at all with the OG Xbox.

I bought one which was previously softmodded however I couldn't get the MS Dash to open from UnleashX which was on it, it would just say C:xboxdash.xbe could not be found.

I wanted the MS dash to enable 480/720p.

So after a bit of research I first got a copy of MS dash and ftp it to the E:\ on the xbox, I tried to run the xbe file from there and no good I got a green screen with Error Code: 21.

After a bit more I got Hexen and ftp that over the xbox to do a reinstall of the softmod, at the end of the installation (I chose Kingroach if that helps) I got an error, something like batch process failed.

I tried to restart the xbox then and now I can't get back to UnleashX or Hexen, I just get a green screen and the error code 21 every time I turn on the xbox.

I tried burning hexen to a dvd-r but the xbox doesn't seem to read the disc.

The xbox will still read retail discs perfectly fine but that's about it, I can't do anything else or get to any dashboards now.

I don't really know what to do now, is there anything I can do? as I said I'm not really all that familiar with the xbox any help or a short guide of what to do to restore everything would be appreciated

Help w/ QNAP, routers, and Media (Plex, Kodi, QMedia...)

I posted some of my struggles in another subreddit, but basically, I keep running into issues with videos locking up and buffering. My setup for a few years has been a QNAP TS-451+ and an Xbox One, both networked into a Nighthawk AC1750 router.

So I don't know if it's recent updates to Xbox or QNAP or what, but this problem just started a couple weeks ago. I've tried turning off Direct Play/Direct Stream in Plex, that only worked for some videos. I'm mainly watching 720p and 1080p MKV files.

So here are my questions: Would it be better to connect my QNAP to the router as a NAS via the USB SS port (3.0, I think?) Would changing to CAT 6 cable change anything? Do I need to take some sort of nuclear option, like a server with a faster processor?

I'm sort of stuck; I've tried a variety of media apps and tweaks to the QNAP, but I'm not getting anywhere. Any advice is appreciated.

[LFH] Xbox One, PS4, Sony receiver for <$200

I am in the US. I am finally looking to upgrade from my Tritton AX720's. I play all sorts of games from survival horror and online fps's to racing and rpg's. I will play and chat on my PS4 and Xbox One. I have the Xbox One chat adapter.

I would like a wireless headset that blocks out external noise very well. I can hear outside noises even when a lot of sound is outputting in my AX720's and it really bothers me. A removable mic would be nice but not a requirement.

This needs to be Bluetooth capable as well. I would like to use these to watch movies connected to my Sony STR-DN1080 receiver. Here is the version and profiles listed on their site. I'm not sure if these are standards for most Bluetooth devices.

Compatible BLUETOOTH version: BLUETOOTH Specification Version 4.1

Compatible BLUETOOTH profiles: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile): Receives high-quality audio content.

AVRCP 1.5 (Audio Video Remote Control Profile): Controls audio/video devices (pausing, stopping, starting playback, volume control, etc.) (*)

Let me know if there is anymore info that I should include. Thank you! I'd be willing to pay a little more than $200 if nothing else is comparable at less than $200.

Hi, FNG here! Some questions for you...

Hi r/Twitch!

I'm really excited to be starting my stream. I've been putting so much time into Fortnite that I figured I might as well stream my gameplay.

Here's my HILARIOUS setup; I'm streaming off of my Xbox using Mixer. From the Mixer stream, I go on OBS and screen record that window. In OBS, I add all the little things like widgets and facecams and from OBS, I stream to Twitch.

My questions arise from the Settings portion. I've been looking a lot into Bitrate, CPU v. GPU, Buffer Rate, and FPS, but I still think that I screwed something up.

Currently, I use a 3500 bitrate, as my upload speed is 24.1 MBPS. This put my stream quality at 768P running at 48 FPS. This kept my CPU running between 60-85%. I didn't notice any issues with the stream and I was happy with it.

However, I'm using the x264 encoder and I'd like to know how I could get more out of my stream. I'd really like for it to be 720P @ 60 FPS, just to humor myself.

What recommendations do you guys have? I have an i5 that runs at 2.2GHz when I stream (.4GHz off of max), and Intel HD Graphics 4400. OBS Estimator said I should run 3000 bitrate, 3000 buffer, and there's a chance my computer would stream 60 FPS.

No, I do not want to go buy a PC or an NVIDIA GTX (lol) or even a capture card to be frank. If I wanted better stream hardware, I'd buy it. Just seeing what I can milk out of the one I have.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Van Eck phreaking

When I was using my raspberry pi computer on a 720p HDMI display, I noticed that when I unplugged the device and plugged it back in, I would see a totally different GUI with different contents then I was previously viewing. When I noticed this, I began to have debillitating memory loss and pain. This was also the case with my Xbox 360, and happened with both my raspberry Pi's on different TVs. I noticed my Rasberry Pi 2 was flashing it's green wifi LED indicating wifi connection, where it had no way of connecting to wifi. When I placed a layer of foil over it the green LED began to flicker out and die. I attempted to plug in my Xbox 360 to another telivision, but no matter what settings I put the TV on, it would not display the contents. It was weird because my Hulu account stayed playable despite changing my password. It was even on the incorrect email address. What is this?

Duplicate Ping Replies from Xbox One

Hey guys,

I'm seeing something very similar to this guy 2 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/3f6p6f/is_anyone_having_trouble_getting_online_games_to/

We have 3 Xbox One consoles in the house (Original, Xbox One X, Xbox One S) and all 3 exhibit this behaviour. We're unable to play online games for more than a few minutes before the connection dropping out, same goes for chat.

We have 100/40 Fibre to the Premises and no other devices in the house experience any latency/dropout issues.

When I try to ping any of the 3 consoles, I get what you would expect; nice healthy replies:

Not so healthy there. Then, if I go back to the dashboard and quit the game (actually quit it from the xbox menu), everything returns to normal:

64 bytes from 10.1.5.177: icmp_seq=139 ttl=128 time=4.544 ms (DUP!) 64 bytes from 10.1.5.177: icmp_seq=140 ttl=128 time=4.591 ms 64 bytes from 10.1.5.177: icmp_seq=141 ttl=128 time=4.617 ms 64 bytes from 10.1.5.177: icmp_seq=142 ttl=128 time=4.945 ms 64 bytes from 10.1.5.177: icmp_seq=143 ttl=128 time=4.860 ms 64 bytes from 10.1.5.177: icmp_seq=144 ttl=128 time=2.200 ms

All 3 Xboxes connected via Ethernet, connecting to 3 different switches in different locations of the house (we have 6 switches in total, it's a pretty big network). I've tried cutting them over to Wi-Fi, disconnecting all of the switches down to one and trying that, using a different switch for the isolation test, and I can replicate this issue every single time so the switches don't seem to be the issue in this case.

Some research online points to check the MTU but that's irrelevant on the local network (all of our switches are smart switches and are set to the standard 1500 MTU).

This has only cropped up very recently, and nothing else on the network is experiencing this, only the Xbox One consoles. I noticed there was a Dashboard update released on 17/02, not sure if that might have anything to do with it but it's worth mentioning.

Wireshark shows these duplicate replies as both coming from the same console, and we've changed the IP of one of the consoles so it definitely isn't duplicated.

Not sure what to do here guys, though maybe /u/Xbox_Support or someone in-the-know can offer some insight?

The more I play, the worse I get at this game

I dunno what it is but I just can’t seem to improve. Can’t seem to hit a head shot no matter how carefully I aim, get shit on with full shield and health, shots don’t connect when I am positive I am on target (I assume this is the “bloom” thing everyone talks about?).

Doesn’t matter if I land at Tilted or some out of the way place, i can’t seem to find a decent gun setup (I’m lucky to get anything better than a green AR). If I do happen to find a sniper, I can’t hit anyone most of the time because they’re bunny hopping all over the place and I’ve always sucked with snipers in any game anyway. Took me about 15 games to do the “eliminate 2 players with a sniper” challenge, mainly because I could never find a god damned sniper rifle. When i finally got one, I had both kills in under a minute (surprised even myself!)

Over 450 games and only 1 win (which was luck because I think the other guy fucked up) and only somewhere around 280 kills. When I do get to the end game, it’s usually only because I landed out in the boondocks and by the time I get to the circle, everyone is pretty much dead but i feel like I’m showing up to a gun fight with a butter knife.

I’m getting a little better at building but always forget during a fight and by the time I get my shit together the enemy has built above me and pumped me in the head with a shotty while doing a 720 flip off the top of his ramp.

Anyway, just felt like having a rant. I keep coming back for more punishment though because I actually do enjoy the game for the most part. I think Epic have done a great job despite the bugs.

Feel free to drop some tips if you feel so inclined 😉

EDIT: Probably should have mentioned I play on Xbox (if that matters...)

Survive PC performance...5 minute in.

<sigh>...

so i might as well have expected this, but...has anyone else noticed the pc port is...shoddy?

  1. right off the bat the game defaulted in a 720p resolution and middling graphics settings....i own a 980 Ti...

  2. no way to adjust any options untill 30 minutes into the game (when you finally get control of your character....mtsv had that initial new game menu from the hospital with an options menu. This means during the all important first impression i'm stuck staring at:

    • cloudy textures
    • jaggies galore
    • distracting subtitles
  3. the goddamn cursor bug from ground zeroes is back! ARLKJGLSDJ#@#@$~!

  4. at some point between the character naming window and the actual control hand-off, the game forgot i had an xbox controller and i could only input with the keyboard, even though the controller never shut off...

  5. "Valid/Invalid"...?

  6. this one is probably cross platform, but...holy recycled assets, batman! it's been 3 years and we still are stuck with the same 4 close-cropped hairstyles? really?

what else...

i really didn't want to hate this game, while i side with kojima on the whole debacle, i could get over it (he's made enough money, and gets the last laugh, so no tears for kojima) and i'm honestly still reserving judgement until after i play it, as i still play and love TPP and GZ to this day. the MGSV franchise is one of my favorite games to come out in the last five years, warts and all...but jeez this does not bode well...

What to upgrade next? 'Infinite budget'.

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

I game a lot of games, from indie, Esports to AAA. I also stream daily at 3500kbp/s at 720p60.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)

I play at 1080p144 and would like to be hitting over 100fps on demanding games, and 144hz on games which are easy to run, CSGO for example.

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

I have about £500 for myself every month after necessities and such, so budget can be infinite, but have £450 currently, but budget will grow every month.

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

England.

Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).

Provide any additional details you wish below.

I am looking for anything to improve my setup, not just 8GB more RAM or a new GPU, you know? Something that would really put a wow as if I were to post to /r/battlestations.

NOTE: You do not have to follow this format, but please be sure to answer these questions. Please do not ask to simply be given a build. You are welcome to delete this section.

Original Xbox using PAL component question

I should be getting a working crystal Xbox arriving soon. I understand that the Xbox can be modded to display 480p/720p/1080i but without modding, can the system even display video through component cable on a PAL system as there doesn’t seem to be any video options allowing for component output like on the NTSC systems.

I am in EU so I don’t have an NTSC unit to compare but from watching videos and searching online I haven’t found a solid answer. I know on the PS2 PAL which supports 480p the system would need to enable component via a composite cable before plugging it in so it would be really helpful to know for sure.

Display Issues

Does anyone have issues with there resolution? I have a OLED 4K TV and sometimes the image comes 4K (HDR) and sometimes it’s 720p. I’ve noticed through my captures on my Xbox. Some captures are 4K other are at 720p. Help!

So you wanna be more than just an average Streamer.

There is nothing wrong with streamers who see this as a hobby and and something to do on the side here and there. However, if you are looking to move to the next level than this guide is aimed at you. There is no sugar coating these techniques that I will be listing below they are important and proven. Lets get down to business and be the best you can be.

Webcam:

Yes you need one! Streaming is about interacting with other people. By not having a webcam you are already cutting in half that interaction by excluding a key component of social communication and body language.

Green Screen:

Unless you have something to show off then do not show anything at all! Unless you have nice art or a nice looking bookshelf with cool games and something really interesting to look at ditch the background. Having a couple posters on the wall or worse a messy bed in the background will not cut it. Green screens are cheap and easy and you already have a webcam right?

Appearance:

You do not have to look like a Calvin Klein model to succeed but you should present yourself in a professional manner. You do not need a fancy suit or anything, but a nice shirt and not having bed hair will help a lot in your image. Be careful if you wear graphic tee shirts as the images or text could turn certain people away. Comb your hair check your teeth and whatever you do, do not wear some old sweaty stained tank top on stream.

PC:

People are not going to like this but yes you need one. Without a decent computer you will be missing out on some of the most important features available to a streamer end of story. Even if you are a console only streamer you still need to be using a PC in order to leverage programs like OBS or Xsplit which will provide you with endless ways to help interact with your viewers. Either use a capture card like the Elgato HD or you can try Microsoft's Streaming app on windows 10 to push your xbox to your PC if you have a fast enough connection to handle it.

Quality:

720P@60fps or above!

Microphone:

Of course you know this but wait there is more. Do not cheap out here guys audio quality is king in the streaming game a cheap headset mic combo will not cut it. If you already have a good headset consider a Mod Mic which can attach via magnet. Another option is a desktop mic but do also get a mic boom as this will allow the mic to sit closer to your mouth and increase the quality. Some good mics to start with are the blue yeti or snowball. Remember about having the PC? Good then use those microphone filters such as noise gate and sound suppression to give you the best sound possible.

Social:

Twitter is good but Instagram is better. Ever hear the phrase a picture is worth a thousand words well screw that because we can now add words and graphics to our pics to make them worth 10,000! What I mean by this is using programs such as Photoshop to add text and graphics over your photos before you send them to Instagram. Consider putting up your name/link to channel and the game you are streaming directly on the photo. And about those photos be creative we are on webcam already so no need to be shy, ad yourself into them! Still you should of course not forget twitter but make sure you interact with it do not just tweet your going live and that's it. Favorite other peoples posts ad comments and retweet.

Talking:

Remember the 30 second rule. While you do not have to be talking non stop do remember to try to say something at least every 30 seconds. The reason for this is because that is a ball park figure of the average time you have to gain the attention of a new viewer before they hit the back button. Talk about anything really as long as its not too crazy or over the top. Suggestions would be, how your days going, narration of in game events and also but not least talking to viewers.

Interaction:

Mixer has two great things going for it, FTL and interactive buttons. FTL will allow you to respond to viewers in the blink of an eye and you should leverage this at all times by having a constant way to check the chat feed. The buttons are a freebie and are a great way to have fun with your users do not skip THESE!

Anger/Complain:

Do not do these on stream they will lose you viewers fast. Its okay to get frustrated during a hard game but do shake it off and carry on. Also never speak bad about Mixer (outside of general critiques) or sponsors as remember you want to work with them don't you?

Overlays:

Use them but keep them as minimal as possible. Smaller here is better this goes right along with having a green screen as this will reduce clutter. Remember what game your playing and make sure your over lay fits with it perfectly. I recommend unless you only play one game exclusively to keep the theme of your overlays tied to that of your channel.

Channel Description:

Mixer gives you a blank slate under your stream to ad whatever you want. You should fill this with useful content including info about you links to social and anything else that might be relevant to your viewers. Remember to keep a consistent theme with the rest of your branding and also graphics here go a long way to looking more professional.

Promotion/hosting:

Do not plug yourself without adding some kind of content first. If you have bots (you should) its okay to have them remind your viewers about social and what not but keep it to a long interval duration no need to spam your own chat. End your stream by hosting someone else preferably playing the same game. Do not just host and then leave your computer you should plan to stick around and chat some more to network and hopefully gain a new friend who will help you in the future.

Schedule:

Have one and stick to it. Consider any off schedule streams as a bonus. Remember the more you put in the more you will get out.

This list will be updated as time goes on but for now following the above will greatly help you at building a successful channel. If you want some examples of things like the descrition feel free to check out my channel at https://mixer.com/SlideFire or ask away and I will try my best to help you.

Trying to game at 4k60fps HDR while capping at 1080p60fps on HD60S

Just got a new 4k tv, have yet to get an Xbox One X but I plan on getting one soon. I wanna make sure I have the right equipment because I know what I currently have won't cut it.

If I use this splitter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K0B205G/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A28128AMZ00PEQ

with one HDMI cable plugged directly into my TV and the other into my Elgato HD60S, will the Elgato software downscale and show the gameplay at 1080p60fps similar to how you can game at 1080p and capture at 720p?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Elgato HD60 Xbox One Settings Question (Rainbow Six Siege)

Hello everyone. This is my first post here, and I hope this topic hasn't been heavily discussed before (I searched through past posts and didn't quite find what I needed).

I'll get right to the point: I recently have been running a bunch of test streams with different settings through OBS and Elgato Game Capture. On both, I get very good quality (720p/60FPS, 1080p/60FPS) while streaming games such as Halo 5, Halo Master Chief Collection and Fortnite. But for some reason, I just can't figure out a way to get Rainbow Six Siege to look decent. The playback on both OBS and Elgato don't look bad, but as soon as I start playing, the game gets very pixelated and looks sloppy. It does this on 1080/60, and when I lower it to 720/60, it does the same. I've read things such as "more movement = more pixelated" (summarized), but I'm curious if there's any sort of way around this or it's just how it is with this game.

If it matters, I stream using anywhere from 2,500 bitrate to 3,500 or more (when testing) just to see if it changes much, which it doesn't. My upload and download speeds are pretty much the same at 70/75mbs on wired connection.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Would there be a way to patch Xbox boot animation to 720p?

Would it be cool if the classic flubber animation was patched to support 720p or even 1080i?

It already does 16:9 if wide screen is enabled from the dashboard. I'm not sure if that helps at all though.

How doable would this kind operation be and who would be a right person to ask/persuade to actually pull it off?

Disable filtering on LG OLED C7P Game mode scaler?

I feel like this is kind of a long shot, but is there any way to disable the smooth filtering on the internal scaler of the LG OLED 7 series in Game mode?

This is specifically for my older consoles that tend to run games in 720p, like the Xbox 360 and Wii U. I just hooked up the 360 yesterday, and boy does that home screen look rough with the filtering, even when set to 1080p. The Wii U fares a bit better, but really I'd prefer the cleaner look of nearest neighbor/point sampled upscaling, since both 720p and 1080p can be stretched to 2160p using integer scaling.

If there's no way to disable filtering on the internal scaler, does anyone know of an external scaler that would do that without really adding any latency?

HELP! So I set up my Xbox one up to an older tv it’s 720p and games/Netflix get cut off on the sides and top and bottom

I’ve tried messing around with my TV settings but when the Xbox is running and a game or Netflix is up it is locked on “widescreen” I have the Xbox settings at 720p in resolution. Is there anything else I can do so the games and shows aren’t cut off?

Is GTA IV upscaled to 1080p on the Xbox One?

As far as I know, GTA IV is 720p on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. I want to know if GTA IV and other backwards compatable games are upscaled to 1080p or enhanced in any way to see if they are worth buying for my Xbox.

Bad stream quality.

I been streaming on the Xbox one since mixer was beam. When it was beam my streams would look nice and clear in 720p with no problems. My internet speed back then was 150down and 12 up. Now on mixer my streams are laggy and doesn't even stream in 720p not even 480p it is very bad quality. My current speeds is 300 down and 40 up. And yes I'm am on a wired connection.

My EON GCHD experience so far

I just got the GCHD doohickey this weekend. I watched every review video out there before purchasing and I caught one that gave out a discount code; got mine $135 shipped which made me feel better about the price. So far I’ve played Rogue Leader and Metroid Prime and the best way to describe it is like when a near-sighted person (myself) puts on glasses; it lifts that veil of blurriness that I remember from this console. I’m running it on a 5 year old 32” Insignia 720p LCD TV and it looks like how I imagined a Metroid Prime port on Switch would look: pretty damn good so far. Sparks flying, shadows and other shit have a more modern pop/depth to them almost now that the veil is lifted. Also, there’s no perceivable input lag. I hold the controller up in front of the TV and response is instantaneous.

My negatives are:

1) price, but for a lifetime of use on modern TV’s it’s worth it to me albeit being a little tough to swallow,

2) tight fit inserting it into the Gamecube, this part is certainly true at least for my unit and the “click” wasn’t as satisfying as I’d hope it would be and you really need to get it all the way in for it to work,

3) there’s still the unavoidable anti-aliasing jaggies that become a little more apparent now that the blurring/smoothing is removed, but part of this observation is just due to my salty bias towards anti aliasing in general ever since my eyes first started noticing it a lot in the arcade and on N64. But believe it or not, I notice far less of it here than on something like Battlefield 4 for Xbox One.

This weekend I’m going to try these games on my Wii w/ HD component cables hooked up to the very same TV and compare the two if anybody is interested. I’ve never tried Gamecube games on Wii before and I acknowledge that’s probably what I should have done from the get-go. However, I personally prefer to play the actual Gamecube console.

I hope I offered some extra insight; I know most of this stuff you’ve already heard. I’m open to suggestions for testing it further and I’ll try my best to answer questions. So far, I’m really digging it.

Thanks

Got an Elgato HD60s for the Xbox one S, my tv is 4K, I know the Elgato can do 1080p or 720p and I know almost all Xbox One S games play at 30FPS, my question is what should I put my Tv resolution, Elgato resolution and OBS resolution at. My internet is really fast so no issues there?

I don't need the best stream just a pretty good quality one. And I'm not sure what to set everything at.

I've also heard for Xbox it's better to stream in 720p is this true?

[REQUEST] [STEAM] Tekken 7

Hi /r/GiftofGames I think it's my first time posting here! I'm fairly new to "real" PC gaming, as in, I just finished building my first dedicated gaming PC in January. Before that I had an old APU (A6-7600K if I remember correctly) system that could run older games (it was fairly impressive with some newer ones too. Watchdogs could do 720p30fps along with games like Rocket Leauge), but I mostly just relied on my Xbox for newer ones. Now that I have a gaming PC, I can finally run a lot of the games that helped make my decision to switch in the first place.

Why Do I Want This Game? I love fighting games. I may not be the best at them, but games like Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, and Injustice are all insanely fun to play for me. Tekken is one of those games that I haven't gotten to play as much, but I distinctly remember playing on my cousin's PlayStation as a kid. It was probably one of my most fun memories and honestly was what really drew me on the genre to begin with. I'm also slightly interested in going competitive if I end up being any good at it. Not that I'd win anything lol.

Why I Can't Afford

To put it bluntly. I am a jobless teenager. Almost old enough for a job in my state, I guess, but until that day comes I'm mostly reliant on any and all birthday money that comes in for me. I highly doubt I can get my parents to cover much for me now considering all the money they just poured into getting me this gaming PC to begin with. It's probably a very common reason, I know. :v. I do actually have some Christmas money left, but it's literally 10$ which isn't enough to cover this purchase. Honestly, I feel I might just buy a cheaper game and try to give it away/gift it to someone on here later on. I really don't like leeching so that might help make up for it.

The game right now is 25$ on Steam which is 50% from the original price. Honestly, I'm fine whether I get it or not. It's completely up to you if you want to get the game. I have no real reason to be upset if no one wants to tbh.

https://steamcommunity.com/id/irohaosu/ is my Steam profile.

My friend's starting to stream, but has come to realize his 2010 iMac isn't up to capturing his console and streaming it. What's the price range I could tell him to expect with a pc?

Hi, my friend doesn't have a lot of money right now, but is getting more and more into streaming, and is actually building a little following. Right now he is just using the built-in streaming through his Xbox one and ps4, but he wants to stream through a PC so he can add a better face camera, stream alerts, and all of that and hopefully continue to grow his channel.

If he's not using the PC to play the games, but just to capture the video from the consoles and then stream it, what's the minimum he needs hardware wise, and what cost is he looking at? I might be willing to help him either by loaning him some money, or front-loading the money I'm sure I would have eventually donated through his stream or subscribed to his channel, but not so much if we're looking at a $1,000 machine. I'm hoping for $500 or less if we can get away with it. Any thoughts?

Edit: Sorry, I realized I should mention what he's streaming. He plays PUBG, Overwatch, and Cuphead mainly, but might also play some Rocket League. As far as quality, I think we'd hope for 720p and 30-60 fps. Somewhere around there.

Weird interference only on 480p! Help please?

Please read all. It's long, sorry!

I have an original Xbox. I'm converting from component to hdmi. I've tried 3 converters, the hd link cable, cheap component cables, and official brand Xbox component cables. There seems to be interference somewhere, but I can't pin it. Oh, the interference is only on 480p. That's the confusing part.

My story starts here. I've been trying to record gameplay from the original Xbox with the Elgato HD 60 Pro. When I started, I had cheap component cables, cheap converter, cheap hdmi cable. My setup was in the living room of my house. Everything worked fine. No problems. I moved my setup to the next room over. Nothing changed. After a couple months, I started dropping signal. Looked up fixes. Oh, so it's because of the cheap cables. Let's buy some expensive official cables. Wait for delivery. Oh, it's doing the same thing, but only on 480p games. Strange. Let's test the converter. I move the Xbox to the living room. Plug up components directly to tv. Works perfect. Plug up cheap components. Works perfect. Through the HDMI converter? That's the problem! That also rules out any ideas that there's problems with my HD 60 Pro. Look at all those red and blue specks all over those 480p games and not the 720p ones. I ordered new converter. This will fix it. Wait for delivery. Oh, it works. A day later, nope.. same BS!. This converter brand sucks for 480p. Let's try a different brand. And I think I'll order the mcable too. Wait some more. Sure wish I could record some 480p games. Different brand, same BS! And only on 480p games. OH! The forums say there could be interference in cheap HDMI cables. Forums also say that 480p travels better than 720p or 1080p. So why does it only do this on 480p games? It does this through the HD link cable, the converters and cheap AND official component cables. Let's try some different HDMI cables. All that seem to work fine on every other console. Let's try the 25ft hdmi that works perfect with the Xbox one. Oh, well that's a mess. Maybe it's the length? Eventhough it does great with 720p original Xbox games and 1080p Xbox one, and the PS3 and WiiU, the 480p is terrible. But 480p travels better right? Let's try the hdmi that come with the Xbox one, it has ferret cores, that helps with interference, right? Oh, the same thing. What about the hdmi that come with the PS3? It's the thickest and shortest. Maybe length is the problem. That seems to work. 480p is stable. Let's just connect it to a splitter and connect to the 10ft mcable (it's the legacy). Looks really nice, except for all these white dots on the screen ONLY ON 480p games! Looks like interference. Remove the splitter, just use hdmi extender. Same thing. What if I connect it to a switch? Same thing. What if I connect the mcable directly to the converter? Same thing. Maybe bad luck with converters? Let's use the hd link. There's wavy lines that look like interference when I just use it, but maybe it will work with the mcable? Nope. Okay, so there's interference only in 480p games, let's move the Xbox to different places in the room. All the same. I have another way of testing interference.. let's just use cheap components through the converter and try the different hdmi cables without the mcable. Signal drops everywhere with cheap components. Oh wait, I found a spot and it's stable and works with 480p through the converter with the PS3 hdmi cord. So it's obviously interference. Let's test this even more, I'll use the really long 25ft hdmi. It works! But there are still a couple specks coming up. But this should work great when I replace it with the official components. It does. But still interference. I unplug everything but the monitor and computer. The interference doesn't clear up. Let's plug the ps3 hdmi directly to the HD60 Pro. Ayyy, that's pretty good. Now let's try the mcable again. Oh, more specks. So I'm returning the mcable and getting it replaced. The only spot that my signal works the best is directly in the middle of the room. There is interference obviously from somewhere. (Even with everything unplugged that's the only spot where the signal is best). I'm now waiting on my new mcable. But here's my questions.

Why does it do this with the mcable on 480p? And why only on 480p games? Everything I've read says that 480p can travel longer and further than 720p and 1080p without signal loss. So why is my situation the complete opposite?

The Xbox isn't the problem. Works fine when connected directly to the television with components. That also rules out problems with the component cables. HD60 Pro? If that was the case, then it wouldn't be any different no matter how long the cables are. Plus, I get the exact same results on the television. Converter? Possibly, but it seems to work really well with shorter cables, and that would mean that not only is the new converter faulty, but the other one I ordered is also faulty, and the hd link cable is also faulty. All only on 480p games. To me, it seems like interference. Even though the official components are supposed to be good against interference. The HDMI could be picking up interference, but they don't pick up this interference with anything else except 480p. The length also seems to matter, but I'm not sure why length only matters with 480p. The only other thing I can think of is there's a coaxial is coming out of the floor that could be connected to a router. But it's not connected to anything. But if I connect everything to the opposite end of the room, no difference. Only in the middle of the room is when the signal is good. When the new mcable arrives, hopefully it will fix the mcable white specks problem that only occur with 480p. I'm sorry this is so long, but I'm trying to give every detail. I'm getting really angry, please help me.

"you was alive in the 1980s??? shit - How would you say the world has changed in that time?"

No one leaves doors unsecured any longer. For example I have worked at my clinic for coming up on 26 years now. (Wow, that went fast!) The first 22 years our back door was simply unlocked and was the employee entrance. Often it was propped open to let in air circulation and the random bug. Now it has a number code thing you must enter each time to gain "egress".

In 1987 I was stationed at US Army Hospital Berlin. In the x-ray department we read an article about how a new technology was being developed called "digital radiography". The idea was that instead of film and chemicals you would have the image captured on some kind of sensor plate within the cassette and the final image would be displayed on a screen for viewing.

In 1987 most TV resolution was 480i. We actually thought that was right sharp and clear. "Top Gun" looked awesome on my VCR playing on my 28" Sony Trinitron. I was happily recording hours and hours of MTV (which I really need to digitize one day before them tapes simply dry rot out of existence. It might already be too late, but I have it all still. Stupid passage of time!) Yes, AFRTS provided us with MTV in Berlin! I was 20 in 1980 and 29 in 1989. I comfortably pissed away my life watching MTV, a phenomenon that shall never be repeated. Why have MTV when all videos are now 720p-1440p (2160p is still fairly rare yet.) on YouTube? I watch 'em on my IPhone X.

Well anyways, so this x-ray technology. We laughed at it. Can you imagine viewing analog film on a 1987 TV screen. It could not touch, come close, to the resolution of film. Yes we had computer monitors then. My Amiga 500 that I played "Pools of Radiance" on was like a gift from God. (When I saw the Nintendo for the first time I thought--god them graphics are crap. Nevertheless I became deeply addicted to "Castlevania". I actually stuck one our old 25" TVs on top of the cedar chest at the foot of our bed to facilitate easy gameplay.) But the resolution even on them (computer monitors) was still pretty low. Somewhere between 480p and the very low end of what we think of today as 720p. It was better resolution than TV, but not much. Watching TV on a computer monitor in 1987 was unimaginable, in fact inconceivable to me. So we were pretty confident that was all just a pipe dream, that digital business. And we went on with our lives.

Well to make a long story short, in 2007 we replaced our film and chemicals with digital plate cassettes. I went in the morning from taking x-rays in the same way humans had taken x-rays since 1900 to the 21st century in the afternoon. (Yes, I was taught manual processing and had used it at times in my career. But we at least had a daylight processor--no darkroom required.) Talk about a paradigm shift! The decades old 24 hour turnaround time to include the courier picking up the films in their big thick 14"X17" jackets, the radiologist getting to them and the films being returned along with the paper reports, vanished! The radiologist had the images at the touch of a key. "Wet" readings actually became instant. The film 'n chemicals ended. The daylight processor sat empty for a while, but was eventually removed. You can't tell where it was looking at the floor (which has been resurfaced twice since that day) now. X-ray no longer smelled like chemicals. No more silver recovery crap. Yay!! The thing about x-rays is that they are big and space taking. And you had to keep a lot of them around--6 years worth in case somebody came back for a chest or something.

Around the year 2012 all of the patient film files were removed to some storage location and what had been the xray files was now converted into a phone center for PSRs (Personal Service Representatives). They are behind me as I type and we get along swimmingly! About one month ago, my xray machine which had operated wonderfully and faithfully for 23 years gave up the ghost. We shall replace it with direct capture digital radiography. The need to develop at all will now be gone. Obtaining the image and producing the image will be simultaneous. Prior to this our digital cassettes had to be "developed" in a separately located digitizer for viewing. A step that added substantial time to the whole process.

So that is just in my job.

When I sat down in front of the internet--the World Wide Web--in 1995 for the very first time at a school demonstration that I attended with my second wife and son, I had no idea what I was looking at. It was just a computer screen like my Amiga screen, but with a lot of numbers and letters and some print that I can't recall, I don't think there was even pictures. It made the most fleeting impression on me. (My technical entertainment world then was VCR movies, "Sim City" on my Amiga 1000, and my Sega Genesis--God I loved playing Polterguy-"Haunting") I did not understand the concept and implications of the internet that night. I had to go though a big long period of WebTV through to about 2005 when I bought my first windows PC. I mean that you could connect to the internet. I have had a computer in one form or another since my TRS-80 (the old "trash 80" lol! Anybody remember "Dungeons of Daggorath"? ARARARARAR! ;) in 1985. In 2007 I began to visit "Second Life". A lot.

Today I have an Alienware Area 51 PC with 8 TBs of storage and an Oculus Rift with the touch controllers. I have an Xbox One. My "monitor" is a 75" Sony 4K flat screen. (I have been happily single since 1996 ;) I cut the (cable) cord years before most did. I get everything I need from iTunes or Netflix. I raid 3 nights a week in World of Warcraft--we are currently 4/11 H-Burning Throne. We aren't the best, but we have a lot of fun. We talk in "Discord". I get my "Curse addons" from "Twitch". Here is miss Izumilaryuko. I love this mog... lol!

https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/velen/izumilaryuko

I first heard of reddit about 2012 or so. I lurked for a good year before I began to want to share my thinking and post stuff.

I read this article in 2011 and it permanently changed the way I understood things. Shortly thereafter I read "The Singularity is Near". I never looked back. I know how things work now. I believe I am forewarned and forearmed now.

http://content.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2048299,00.html

Oh and about that film resolution. In 2007 we also installed high def monitors that improved on analog film resolution by 60%. Talk about transcending. By 1987 standards, this was that "inconceivable" pure magick! Analog film could not touch monitor screen resolution. We control the contrast and penetration appearance with a mouse. We can zoom in and fully maintain resolution. Back in the day it was hot-lights and magnifying glasses. And me and my docs take it all for granted. So 1987, 1997, 2007. 20 years from first reading (and not believing) to actually experiencing. Things are moving much faster now of course.

I would really like you to read this and see the overview of how things have changed and why it is going to get absolutely crazy in the next 20 years. Like nothing humans have ever experienced. It's a bit of a rabbit hole. Read what you like. ;)

https://www.reddit.com/r/Futurology/comments/4k8q2b/is_the_singularity_a_religious_doctrine_23_apr_16/d3d0g44/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Futurology/comments/7oyrvz/spacetime_and_gravity_might_be_born_from_the/dsd6moh/

So what do we see that is experimental or prophesied today that we think sounds like impossible magick, but in 10 years (because what used to take 20 years now takes ten or even five) will be normal "reality".

Tell me your story! :D

FORZATHON

Fixed. Previous events extended.

SPECTATE

We’re happy to introduce both Spectate and Seed the Grid features today, two features that have proven to be among the most heavily requested features from Forza fans. Both features have been re-imagined, rebuilt, and optimized for esports viewing in Forza Motorsport 7.

With Spectate, players can hop into public and private lobbies and view the races as they happen. For Forza Motorsport 7, we’ve put a big emphasis on performance with Spectate. Viewers will notice dramatically improved car movement when spectating races; no stuttering or jittering cars. Live spectating now features the same quality of motion as found when viewing Saved Replays. We’ve also dramatically improved the car positioning. We’ve done away with our old predictive position system which was error-prone. Now, car position in Spectate mode is completely accurate. This increased fidelity eliminates car jittering and phantom collisions, resulting in a dramatically improved viewing experience.

SEED THE GRID

With Forza Motorsport 7’s new Seed the Grid feature, lobby hosts now have the option to set the race grid as they see fit. Before the race, hosts can choose “Grid Order” from the menu to manually reorder the race grid. Hosts can move any player anywhere on the grid and new UI elements highlight additional information on player positioning. Spectating players will automatically be pushed to the back of the grid, regardless of where they are placed in the grid.

MULTIPLAYER IMPROVEMENTS

In addition to Spectate and Seed the Grid features, we’ve worked hard to improve multiplayer loading and performance in Forza 7. New behind-the-scenes improvements mean that the game loads cars as soon as the player gets onto the track. The result is quicker loading into the track and onto the race.
