The case for reduced recoil and improved handling mods for console gamers

I'm on Xbox and was switching it up. I picked up an old character and starting playing a blink void warlock. Wanted a faster gun, normally hanging around the 450 or 600 autos. Went with a Valakadyn, one of the 720 autos which I like but my results been inconsistent. It's been a tad too wild to get it consistently on the face or side of face to win 1 vs 1 compared to using Origin Story or Martyr's Make, my go-to's.

I threw on some mods on some other warlock armor so I had both a reduced recoil on energy gun mod and improved handling for energy gun mod on two pieces of armor. In essence with this new setup I dropped a void regen mod and something else, possibly a melee mod. Dropping the void regen mod didn't feel right. How can I give up this special access to Void powers?! But ran with it.

HOLY SMOKES. It seems to have made a difference to the point that this is now my favorite gun and approach at least for this blink warlock. It opened up another option to explore for sure. It seems I do better than my old standbys on this character. The shot has leveled it out enough that I feel I can also get more distance with it. Except for possibly Nessus and one of the new maps, I generally don't change guns. I'm more consistently winning those 1 vs 1s.

It also seems to somehow have made the blink void warlock come together and now work well so I can start learning blink tactics.

Sure we use grenades/melee/rift occasionally. You use your gun all of the time. Sure you need good strategy, but many wins are about coming out on top on that 1 vs 1. Winning those 1 vs 1's or 1 vs 2's can get you out of trouble if you're a great shot especially if you can shoot while moving. That means getting your sights up, on their face and shooting before they do and staying there consistently.

If you're struggling just a bit with some of the faster or more wild guns, then maybe drop the kinetic or energy reduced recoil/improved handling mods in some armor you're not using and try them out. These may open up some new options for you.
