Help with Elgato HD60 not working on a particular TV

I recently purchased an Elgato HD60 and am able to use it to capture on my boyfriend's gaming set up. He has both Xbox One and PS4 and a older Samsung tv. I set it up using a switcher box as his tv only has one HDMI/DVI port. I decided to take the exact same capture box onto my own gaming set up 3 ft away. I have my own Xbox One and PS4 and it will not work with my LG tv that was purchased at Christmas. If I take mine through the same switcher and hook it up to his TV it works with my Xbox and PS4 but nothing with show up on my TV. I've tried playing with the settings. Does this sound like a compatability issue with the TV? I've tried another Samsung 32" that's only 720p and had a little success when I changed the Xbox settings to 720 as well and the capture setting on standard. I just don't get it if my TV is also 1080p compatible what the difference would be. The only thing mine doesn't explicitly say is HDMI/DVI on either of the ports I am using. Can anyone help me? I would be eternally grateful. I'd love to get a second card so we can record the games we play together but if I can't get it work on my TV there is no point in doing so.
