Why do people pretend to not understand, and are putting words into Phil/Microsoft's mouth?

I'm seeing a lot of butthurt youtubers pretending the Xbox One X is another PS4 Pro that does nothing more than checkerboard 4K and 30fps, and that somehow it's Microsoft's fault.

• Microsoft is NOT pushing resolution on developers, it has been stated several times by many people working at Microsoft that there is no requirements when it comes to games :

If a developer chose to do 4K@30fps over 1080p@120fps or even 720p@200fps, it's because they made that decision themselves.

Microsoft's job as a console maker was to ship hardware that is CAPABLE of delivering native 4K, which it does. The rest is up to developers on how they use that power.

• Assassin's Creed Origins is not 4K checkerboard on Xbox One X, game is rendered at a native 3200x2160p, it's just that they enabled dynamic scaling to avoid framerate drops. Meaning it will drop under 3200x2160p in heavy scenes to avoid FPS drops, but remains at a native 4K resolution when it does not drop, which no other console can manage.

Checkerboarding is taking an inferior resolution (like the PS4 Pro does with 1440p) and using a complex algorithm to "upscal" to a higher resolution with higher quality per pixel.

Now you're probably saying "yeah but still it's 30fps and it can't sustain native 4K, so it's BS".

Take into account that it's an open world game, the build was ported in a matter of weeks, and we're 5 months away from release.

Nothing is set into stone and they're probably going to polish the game before release.

That level of performance is pretty damn fair for a $500 console.

On top of that, you can be certain that the X1X version will feature 4K assets. They can afford it with 9Gb of GDDR5 at their disposal, and this is where the main difference will be visible added to the resolution bump.

Add to that superior texture filtering, better draw distance, more stable framerate than any other console, etc..

People are talking out of their ass, like usual.

Nothing better to look like a jackass than make a youtube video yelling like a douche bag pretending to be pro-consumer when you barely understand what you're talking about.
