If your voice fails, take action

I was bummed out when Destiny 2 followed suit of the original in terms of its times exclusive content with Sony. As someone who owns both a PS4 and an Xbox One it wasn't the end of the world however. I disagree with the practice and didn't like when Microsoft had similar deals with Activision in the 360 era. However, the controversy around Destiny 2 has reached an all time high and depending on how things move as we approach launch I may not be purchasing this game for either console. I strongly advise anyone (especially on Xbox) to voice your displeasure with Activision and Bungie- but furthermore seeing as Activision only listens to money boycott the purchasing of all games published by Activision (especially Destiny 2).

The reasons for not purchasing this game (and others by Activision) are two fold and I'll do my best to explain them clearly. Firstly while I disagree with timed exclusive content there isn't anything truly despicable about it- I think it's bullshit but it's been in the industry for awhile so it's nothing new (although a year is too long in my opinion). The real issue has arisen recently with Bungie seemingly not taking advantage of the Xbox One X's advantage in power and even making the game run worse than it will on PS4 Pro to guarantee that PS4 Pro is the all around better system to play the game. If this is true (and it looks to be the case from locking the consoles at 30fps and not having 4K on XoX despite having 4K on Pro) it is an unprecedented action which harms the gaming community as a whole. To put this in perspective for gamers who only own the PS4 it would be like Destiny 1 having been locked at 900p or 720p(akin to the X not getting 4K support) so the Xbox One would be superior or at level terms on all fronts.

This action is on the hands of the developers (Bungie) and not just the publisher and Sony. It is up to Bungie to take advantage of the hardware they are given and they seem to have worked very hard to hit 4K on PS4 Pro (if it's native they probably optimized their engine a lot) and haven't really tried anything to get the Xbox One X up to the Pro's level (when it should be even higher). Bungie and Activision are selling Xbox users a game that not only has less content (could also be seen as Sony giving their players more content which is disagreeable but excusable) but also purposefully doesn't take advantage of the hardware of their system to give advantage to the other. If the Xbox One X doesn't perform as well as the PS4 Pro version it is solely because Bungie didn't work to make it equal (hardware wise it should be superior on all fronts and the XoX is even optimized to make hitting 4K easy for developers). Some studios reporting hitting 4K and 60fps mere hours after receiving their XoX dev kits and it's astonishing to see Bungie not even guarantee 4K when literally ever other game coming out in the near future does so.

If the XoX doesn't at least match the performance of the PS4 Pro I will not be supporting Bungie. I will not be buying this game for Xbox or PS4 because the only way developers and publishers will stop doing this shit is if people stop buying their games. Never before has a developer hampered the performance of their game because they have been paid to make one console inferior on all levels- this is an industry first and I intend to make a statement. I'm asking to anyone who agrees that this goes beyond merely paying for exclusive content to stand with me in defiance of these practices and not purchase Destiny 2. I've been looking forward to playing this game (and planned on buying it on both PS4 and Xbox like I did with Destiny 1) but I refuse to defend these business practices any longer since all they do is negatively impact gamers.

TLDR; the issues raised with Destiny 2 are unprecedented and I would recommend reading my argument for a full understanding of my point.
