Fallout4 cost 150 million to make, earned 720 million release day. Support this game if you want more AAA content. Sources inside. (that's 5 billion caps in fallout money)

Google shows the average game dev salary in USA as about $83k, with ~100 team members that's over 8 million/year in salary alone. Maybe not all 100 team members are devs so get less salary lets say the average is $60k that's still $6m/year. For the past 4 years that's $24-32m in just salary for team members. My wild guess considering this is at least $50-70m for FO4 dev + marketing costs.

I don't know what it cost to make, but at $60 a pop (not even counting exclusive console sales, limited editions, merchandise, etc.), they made well over $720,000,000 in the first day alone... Yeah, wrap your head around that...

Given some of this supporting info, I think it is safe to say fallout 4 cost 150+ million to make, and possibly to this date has returned close to a billion dollars or 8 billion caps. That is palmer level of money. Some of you are used to paying 5 dollars for a VR indie title put together by 2 bros drinking beer in the basement that might have cost them 1000 bucks in time to put together, you simply cannot compare that to a multi hundred million dollar endeavor (not to mention the entire fallout series developer for many years before fallout 4 to get us up to that iteration - all the devs, time, marketing, etc of the entire fallout brand - literally hundreds of man years probably if you consider computer science topics like mythical man months)

This is going to be the BEST VR game currently released, with the most money spent getting it to us. These numbers don't include the costs for fallout 4 VR and I would invite others to speculate how much that might be, new game engine elements, new marketing, new hires, etc.

It is silly to constantly whine about BOYCOTTING zenimax because they may stick it to rift users (they may not have a choice in the matter, the lawyers involved may be tying their hands, and it wasn't zenimax's fault that palmer and carmack broke signed NDA's and stole from the company that a jury determined and Pepperidge farm remembers)

To those upset perhaps you could sell your rift while it still has high value on the secondary ebay market and buy a vive? Perhaps zenimax and facebook will settle before release date, that is what I hope happens and oculus users get a native port. But you may wish to wait anyways, rumors I am hearing are that MSFT plans to enter VR/AR in a big way and their new headsets may work well with this game, and perhaps the new xbox will have a native release with whatever vr headset msft chooses to use on the xbox (most likely one of their own design like their new mixed realitiy line and not an oculus rift or vive)

Please support this game and do not boycott them, we all want more AAA vr titles, and if sales do well on this game, it will encourage other large studios maybe to do native ports of many VR titles. I am sure a lot of NEW VRgins are going to come into vr for this game alone, growing our numbers, and giving more headsets purchased for us all to sell titles too.
