Hello,
Sorry if this is a noob question or has been asked before, but I was searching the previous threads and couldn't find any reference to what I'm looking for.
I have been using a QNAP TS251 as a Plex media server for a few years now, was working great up until the last few updates where I am now having issues with it running at 100% CPU (on idle) and unable to run Plex media particularly well - no transcoding at 720p never mind the 1080p I used to have no issues with.
I'm looking to upgrade my server to something more powerful. I just want an all in one, and all it does is runs Plex, as I have removed or switched off every other app available.
I use an AppleTV (4th gen) primarily due to its ease of use for other family members, so don't want to stop using it. I also occasionally use Plex on my Xbox One in a different room. I have been looking at the Shield due to it's ability to transcode well without costing a fortune.
I was also considering an Intel NUC.
Long story short- Am I able to use an nVidia Shield as a server running Plex Media Server, plugged into the current NAS drive for storage, and use an AppleTV to view the content in a different room?
Thanks
