General advice here as i know it is difficult to diagnose a problem with a few factors being involved.
I have a plex server set up in my flat, generally speaking works well, there's only really one of us using it at any one time so it rarely has an issue.
I have though been reading up about various ways to make it better as every now and again it does struggle and the play back isn't smooth.
I have also tried to recently put plex on my parents tv who live about 10 miles away. They have bought a new LG smart tv so i loaded plex on there and the menus work like a dream, it's just playback of files ranging from 720p - 1080p, same stuttered playback issue.
I guess my specifications and ultimately my question to anyone is, i have a pc that is about 5 years old, runs with an i3 CPU which i have only recently read that plex needs an i5 minimum to trans-code comfortably. I also only have 15mps internet speed but generally that works well for plex playback, netflix, xbox online gaming so i don't think it would cause massive playback issues?
Would an i3 processor and 15mps connection speed cause staggered playback issues in not only my flat, but at my parents house 10 miles away? they have much faster internet speed i must add.
