Debating On the S2716DG vS XB271HU (more detail inside)

I'm about to purchase a new monitor with G-sync feature to go with my GTX 970 Gaming 4G. As this card is getting older, I feel like G-sync become an important feature... anyway...

I'm split between those 2 monitors. Apparently the Dell monitor has excellent color reproduction for a TN panel, but still doesn't beat IPS. IPS are great at color reproduction, 4ms is really not a problem for me as I don't play competitive game, but backlight bleeding is a thing.

On the matter, I've never seen BLB and I think I'm not a "visual freak" to the point it will bother me. I'm even wondering if I would notice difference in color between IPS an TN to be honest.

One is 780$ CAD while the other is 940$ CAD. Is it really worth it to go IPS over TN? I never play in a pitch black room so I may notice less (unless I watch a movie) and as for the 1ms vs 4ms response time, here is a list of game I play at the moment:

  • GTA V

  • Smite

  • Borderlands 2

  • Tomb Raider: Rise of the Tomb Raider

  • Xbox hooked up: Assassin's Creed and Halo 5

  • Single player game in general or co-op (no shooter on pc)

I currently own a BenQ XL2730Z that I had bought for playing Halo 5 and it was a nice upgrade from my 720p monitor. On this topic, how does someone find the right setting for it's monitor? Is there free program helping you? Paid program to get the better color and such?

Thanks for the help!
