Just picked up a 4K LG HDTV, model number 65UH61. Plays Xbox One games great, low response time and low input lag.
The problem I am having is when playing retro consoles. First thing I tried is my NES with a Hi-Def NES HDMI mod in it. However I could not find anything in the settings to turn off 4K upscaling enhancements, that rounded out the corners of the original pixels of the sprites. (phone was acting up and couldn't get a picture). Didn't matter if I set the output at 720p or 1080p on the High Def NES. Same thing happened when playing SNES through my Framemeister.
Tried LG's online chat tech support asking for a way to disable this feature, but they said it was automatic and unable to be turned off. Also tried online chat tech support of competing products like Vizio, and they said theirs is the same way. Samsung's claimed it can be turned off. However, the people on chat are most likely just reading pre written responses to common questions on a computer in a 3rd world country, like over the phone tech support, so I don't really trust their advice.
Anyone here using a 4k TV and still able to preserve that perfect 240p's square pixel look either through a Retron 5, Hi Def NES mod, Framemeister, or OSSC?
