Is my HTPC/lite gaming build overpowered?

Build Help/Ready:

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

This will be my living room pc.

First is my data collection. Media that I've gathered over the years (movies, tv, music, a digital comics and tabletop RPG pdf collection), which I'd like to display easily. My monitor is my existing 720p TV. My friend recently set up Plex, so that looks good for most of my purposes.

Second, I'd like to do some gaming, both single-player and in-person multiplayer for parties. I've gotten back into games recently; most are low-res games, but I'd like the option of a machine that can handle bigger games like Skyrim.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings)

The last time I gamed on a PC was 2002, so I'm not sure how much power I need, but I'd like to be able to handle newer games. Are the RAM and video card listed below too much?

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

1500

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

US

Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).
