Sudden FPS problems with CS:GO only

So lately, since about 2 weeks my cs:go has been acting up. I get low fps and huge fps drops constantly while I can run new 2016 triple a releases on ultra with high stable fps. I think I may have sorta fixed it, but it's not back to where it first was by a longshot. If someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

done (in order) - Disabled Steam Overlay

  • Reinstalled CSGO and deleted config files

  • Verified Game Cache

  • Disabled XBOX related items and NVIDIA streamer in services.msc

  • uninstalled NVIDIA Experience and NVIDIA Audio Drivers, also disabled NVIDIA streamer aka Shadowplay.

  • Disabled unnescessary items in taskmgr startup.

  • Check for viruses with Malwarebytes - clean

  • Check Registry for errors - Errors fixed.

  • Disabled a number of things in services.msc including Windows Search & Superfetch.

  • Pagefile settings changed to min: 16384 and max 32768.

  • Turned off animations & notifications for windows & disabled desktop icons.

  • Downgraded to stable NVIDIA driver. Done with DDU in safe mode and then installed 372.90. (last stable release on which csgo worked fine without drops) Also went back to 373.06, 362.00, 368.69 and 361.43. I feel that I can now safely go back to at least 372.90.

  • Tweaked my autoexec and only kept the necessary things like binds.

  • Removed my autoexec altogether (if needed I can post my pre-edit and/or post-edit autoexec via a DL or something so someone can take a look at it)

  • Used Razer Cortex Game booster

  • Turned all csgo video options to low except for shaders, multicore rendering is on the rest is off, trillinear

  • Installed csgo on local HDD and checked the HDD for errors and defragmented it, also did a disk cleanup.

  • PC stresstest, result is OK

  • "fps_max 0" in csgo as well as "fps_max 500"

  • Set NVIDIA GPU to standard GPU to use instead of Intel HD in NVIDIA control panel.

  • Check and maybe update Realtek Audio Driver to most recent.

  • Check and Update all drivers.

  • Give csgo "high" priority in taskmgr.

  • Disconnect second monitor.

  • set startup options and define threads etc.

  • Run GPU-Z alongside CSGO and a graphically demanding game.

  • Tweak settings in NVIDIA control panel again.

  • Complete fresh install of csgo (new account, no launch options, deleted config files and autoexecs)

  • Set video options to the following:

[

1360x768 fullscreen

laptop power saving: disabled

shadow quality: low

model/texture detail: low

effect detail: low

shader detail: low

multicore rendering: on

MAA Mode: off

Texture Filtering: Trilinear

FXAA: disabled

VSync: off

Motion Blur: off

]

  • CCleaned my entire PC including Steam, NVIDIA and CSGO directories.

  • MSconfig, set the number of processors to 8 in BOOT advanced options.

  • Switched multicore rendering to off and resolution to 1280x720 (maybe fixed)

to do:

  • Restore windows from a restore point.

  • Reinstall Steam.

  • Delete the background.swf file from csgo folder. (can't anymore?)

Result:

  • CSGO is running with 100-120fps but randomly drops to below 20fps. Nothing spikes on the PC (CPU, GPU, Harddisk, RAM), everything except for GPU stays below 30% and GPU stays continuesly at 87%. When fps drop in csgo occurs my CPU drops to about 9% instead of increasing.

  • Far Cry 4 and Dark Souls 3 run on "high+" settings with 60fps locked for Dark Souls and 120fps for Far Cry 4.

  • Tested only on Overpass in an offline botgame. Average fps is around 200 but drops to below 20 at random intervals. It is completely random, not related to me shooting, walking, encountering enemies, entering certain areas etc.

  • Multicore rendering off seems to improve my results significantly. While running at only 60-100 fps it does so at a stable rate and it doesn't drop to below 20 anymore. (Potential fix, will update you guys in the next coming days)

possible causes:

  • GPU (880M) is failing/ starting to fail.

  • Broken CS:GO update, not optimised for my system.

  • Virusses.

  • Outdated or conflicting drivers and or Programs.

  • Other failing Hardware like CPU or hard disk.

  • Failing peripherals or bad drivers for peripherals.

  • Bad system settings.

  • Corrupt windows installation or Registry errors.

  • Broken/Deteriorating CPU

  • OS not utilizing CPU cores properly or can't use multiple cores/threads.

Specs that matter:

  • Geforce 880M

  • Intel HD Graphics 4600

  • Intel i7-4710MQ 8 threads @ 2.50Ghz

  • Windows 10 latest build
