After research, a lot of help from the folks on this subreddit, and some blind purchases I've finally got the beginnings of a decent home theatre set up now.
My original surround sound was a Panasonic SC-BT100 HTiB. It was okay when we watched movies through it, however nothing on the Xbox or other consoles was in surround sound.
Here's the upgraded set up:
- Sony XBR65X750D Television
- Denon AVR-S720W Receiver
- Polk Audio T15 Bookshelf speakers (Front Right, Front Left)
- Polk Audio PSW10 Sub
- Rocketfish Wireless Adapter for the rear speakers
- Xbox One S
- PS3
- Wii U
- HD HomeRun Extend
The centre and rear speakers are using the old speakers from the HTiB. I don't have the sub hooked up yet - don't have the cord needed to use it just yet (On order).
Some challenges I've had with the set up:
- HDR - WTF is it? There's two different HDR specs. I'm not fully sure what they're called but I think one is just HDR and the other is Ultra HDR. Normal HDR can't display the colour range, whereas ultra can. Weird, confusing and this took me a while to finally understand.
- Our entertainment centre wasn't large enough for the TV. After measuring a few times, I still fucked up and the TV was too big by about 6 inches horizontally. A jigsaw and some effort, and now the TV fits, but the entertainment centre looks like shit.
Just wanted to say thank you to the community for everything.
