If im recording in 720p 60fps should i put my xbox settings as 720p?

Does the quality i play on affect the recording quality, even if the quality im playing on is higher?

I have a Avermedia game capture HD 2, it can record 720p 60fps or 1080p 30fps. I get the feeling that most prefer 720p 60fps which is why im wondering if have to downgrade the quality i play on.

EDIT: Actually what happens if i have my Xbox on 1080p and im playing a game that is 60fps such as COD or Gears. But im recording on the 1080p option which can only do upto 30fps.

How does it affect it?

I assume i should also render my videos in the same quality/fps even if it is higher or lower quyality
