I was THIS close to getting Skyrim SE early on Xbox.

So close!

Got up near campus early and decided to kill some time by looking at televisions at a Wal-Mart. I'm planning on upgrading my 37' 720p TV to a new one soon.

I walk by the gaming section and think "I wonder if..."

Sure enough, it's there. 15 copies complete with SKU's and a price tag, just asking to be purchased.

I feel my heart race as I kindly ask an employee to open the case for me.

As he walks over I think to myself, "You know what I've done amazing work on my thesis and I don't need to check in with my professor so I reaaalllly could just go home and enjoy it for the afternoon..."

The employee stops and turns around.

"Hey wait, what game do you want again?"

"Skyrim..?"

"Oh okay, gotta make sure it isn't an unreleased game."

"......"

He gets it out and we walk back over to the cash register.

I pull my debit card out.

It's happening.

"Sorry dude this is an unreleased game I can't sell it."

ohshitwhatdoisay

"It's fine. Sell it to me please."

"............. no I can't"

"Are you sure? I'd like to buy something from you and I'll go elsewhere if I can't get it here."

"I mean... I want to but it won't let me."

"Oh okay I understand, the computer locked you out?"

"Yeah I guess idk"

"Alright well thanks I guess... Can I at least look at the back of the box?"

"NO WE'RE UNDER STRICT INSTRUCTION TO NOT ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO TOUCH"

"Aright, well thanks have a good day." Geez walmart is weird

Speechcraft wasn't high enough I guess. I sunk all my experience points into the Digital Marketing tree.
