What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
I currently have a i5 Intel NUC that I use for my HTPC in my living room. I currently use it to run Kodi and some emulators. However i would like something with a little more power. I would like something that can run dolphin/pcsx2 on max settings. I would also like to get into PC gaming and ditch the console. Possibly play some steam games. I don't have any particular games in mind, just looking for the best all around performance I can get sub 800. My current tv is only 720P so even if I get a new TV i dont see my self running anything above 1080P
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
$800 USA NOTE: If I can get something less than $800 without sacrificing much performance that would be great. $800 is max
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Over the next 2-3 weeks
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)
Tower Only. It will be hooked up to my TV via HDMI so I don't need any peripherals
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Not sure about microcenter. I am in Texas USA, DFW area.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Just a Samsung TV, Intel Wireless keyboard/trackpad, xbox360 controller with wireless dongle.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
NO
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
This will be an HTPC in my living-room so it must be quiet.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
This is my first build some i don't want to go too small and make it a nightmare to put together. My company uses a cooler master elite 130 as a network server. I like that form factor. However if that would add significant cost or difficulty assembling i would rather go with a more standard case.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
No. I can get windows for cheap from my university.
Thank you guys for your help. Im excited to dive into the world of PC building / PC gaming.
