I've got some insider info regarding some small details about the NX. I was part of a tiny indie team based in Britain who got a dev kit. We've since disbanded, but I still hear rumblings throughout the industry. Note that a lot of things I say are based on what I've heard from other devs, so don't take everything as absolute fact.
I haven't heard a definitive name for the system yet, but I do know that they're aiming for something short and concise. They also want it to encapsulate the concept of the system. Pretty much a given.
Speaking of the concept of the system, it is indeed a hybrid-like device. The dev kit my team got included a dock/cradle with two USB ports, and a handheld that was tethered to the cradle. The screen on the handheld is about 6 inches and is 720p. The overall button layout is pretty much identical to the Wii U gamepad. The hardware capabilities are slightly downgraded on the portable, but while docked the graphics are a little under an Xbox One system, give or take. There is an upscaling device built into the dock. (The technology there is actually very cool) Our kit included a standard black controller (similar to the Wii U pro controller) for use while the handheld was docked. Nothing on the handheld detached. Don't know if that will change in the final product or not. I've heard that Nintendo is preparing a series of short video clips (possibly done by the Treehouse team) to focus on various aspects of the system after reveal. I have no idea when Nintendo plans on revealing it. It should be relatively soon, though. I imagine they're probably finalizing the presentation now.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild will definitely be a launch title. I'm fairly certain that has been set in stone. Expect a Mario game shortly after launch as well. As you guys know, third party Devs such as Square Enix and Ubisoft plan on supporting the system. Some Wii U ports aren't out of the question either.
That's pretty much the entirety of what I've heard. It shouldn't be too much longer to wait now. I'm excited for the reveal too, as there are a lot of things I still don't know. Thanks guys.
