Looking for serious discussion about the dock theory.

Hi everyone. Like many of you, I have been carefully reading and pondering the constant flow of rumors and speculations about the NX. While many of them are entertaining, creative, or even outlandish, one of the widely accepted ones leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth: that the dock provides additional processing power for the handheld unit.

I am having trouble understanding why people think this would be a good idea for server reasons, and I'll lay out a couple of them below.

1.) Does not having the system connected to the dock mean games don't run as well without it? If additional power is being supplied to boost the rendering capabilities of the handheld component, does taking the system on the go mean that the games are going to suffer from downgraded draw distances or reduced frame rates? Are developers going to have to plan for this to happen and complicate their production of games even more than they already are? What happens if you need to go somewhere and want to undock the system before shutting the system down, will disrupting the systems architecture crash your game?

2.) Providing additional rendering power wirelessly is a terrible idea. People think it would be great to be away from home and still play their favorite games boosted wirelessly through the internet, and in an ideal world, this sounds great. Unfortunately we don't live in one, and corporations are greedy. How much data is going to be chewed up by playing remotely? Are you going to have to buy your kid's video game system a data plan? (Remember the Vita did this) Are all, or only select cellphone providers going to provide this service? Are they going to give you unlimited data to support constant 720p streaming? What if you live in an area with bad internet? Whelp, there goes your chances of enjoyment new system because chances are, you're not going to always be near wifi or in an ideal location for strong service. Are you riding in the car and suddenly enter a tunnel? Fuck the game you're playing because that connection is GONE.

3.) We've had vague quotes saying the system is easy to use. If Nintendo wants everyone to be able to be able to enjoy their new system without fuss, which they are pretty well known for, then setting up this connection between the two systems had better be flawless or people will get frustrated and move on. Why play on something that could have constant interruptions when there are other gaming devices that will just let you play with no fuss. There's a reason why things like Sony's "Now" service is a disaster. They render the game you're playing on their crazy powerful servers and send it through the internet only to have it stutter and disconnect unless you have a godlike connection. How many people world-wide do you think have a strong enough provider to use this? Does anyone remember the outcry against Microsoft when the xBox 1 had to connect to the Internet constantly? People lost their minds.

So for these reasons and many more do I strongly believe that under no circumstances will there be an external rendering unit for the NX. I would love to hear from people who think I couldn't be more wrong, provided you realize I want to keep this friendly and analytical. :)

TLDR: External rendering creates a HOST of nightmares for everyone involved.
