Hey all,
I know this has been asked countless times, and I've read through all the stickied posts and everything, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask and get some more opinions based on my specific needs.
I am thinking about cutting the cord and getting some sort of HTPC to run kodi, but I'm a noob. I already have an Xbox One, so I don't really need a device that can access Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. and I don't really need to game on it. It's just my girlfriend and me and we have one TV, and I recently purchased an OTA antenna as well. It's 720p, although in the near future I imagine we'll upgrade, but I don't think a 4k TV is in our future anytime soon.
So, I guess what I'm looking for is a box that'll run kodi smoothly, allow me to stream and (maybe?) download specific shows/programs, mainly sports. I'm sick of paying insane amounts of money for a cable subscription I keep around only for sports.
My budget is relatively flexible - I was initially looking at the Shield, but from some of the stuff I've read, that might be overkill for what I'm looking for. Maybe the Fire TV would be better for me? Or something else?
Any and all opinions welcome. If you need any more information, let me know. Thanks!
