Hi folks,
I was gifted a HTIB (Sony HT-SF2300) a few years ago, and to be honest it’s been fantastic for me. I usually don’t watch my TV or movies very loudly, so I’ve had no complaints whatsoever.
I have a 4K TV (Sony XBR-70X850B), and it’s been fantastic too. I know it’s not HDR, but I’ll survive.
With the Xbox Scorpio and PS4 Neo coming up next year, I want to replace my receiver so I can have more 4K inputs. I don’t have the cash to buy a complete surround sound system right now, so I want to just replace the receiver now, and I can slowly replace speakers over the next year or two.
Per some online reviews, I’ve been considering the Denon AVR-S720W. It seems pretty fully featured and “future-proof” (as future proof as something under $500 will be). However, the Denon website indicates the Power Output is 6ohms or 8 ohms.
I’ve read that the impedance should match; is this a recipe for frying my speakers or (far worse) frying the receiver?
Sorry, I know this is a noob question and I tried to do research where I can, but I’m also worried I’m misreading the specifications and don’t want to burn out anything.
Thanks so much,
