I have a piece of homework due tomorrow and it was on writing an article called "Why everyone should own a...." and I wrote my article to inform and to persuade. I hope I did PCMR proud.

Why everyone should have a gaming computer.

A gaming computer. While the name gives it away, they don’t really need to be for gaming. Any really powerful computer can be classed as a “gaming” computer. However while powerful computers can be classed as a “gaming” computer, not all gaming computers are as powerful. I will continue to explain why everyone should have a gaming computer and if you have a console I’ll tell you why you should sell it and get a gaming computer.

The Price.

While not everyone want’s to spend thousands of £’s on a new computer, others do. You can get a computer that outperforms a console by a mile for slightly more money than a new console with games. Also you will save between £30-£45 a year since you don’t even have to pay for online and not to mention the amount of money you can save during sales (There are some amazing sales during the summer and winter) or if you choose to you can buy game from bundle stores where you can pay what you want (Such as £1) and get a pack of AAA games that came out within the past year while donating to charity at the same time..

The Performance.

The great thing about gaming computers are that you can tailor it to your needs and budget. Do you only want to spend £250 to get some light gaming and basic tasks done? Easy. Maybe you have a budget of £1000 and want it to be really future proof and be able to play any game at any resolution at high framerates or even have head room for VR compatible games? Done, you can choose any parts you want and build it yourself and even at the lowest price points a PC will outperform a console. Most benchmarks for consoles show that they game at either 1280x720@near 60 FPS or 1600x900@30FPS capped whereas a PC at a consoles price point can play games at 1920x1080 (Full HD) @ 60 FPS and it’s not even capped. Although, if you choose to spend a lot more money on a PC, you can play games at 3840x2160 (4K) at a smooth 60 FPS and some monitors even allowing 144 FPS (Check www.testufo.com to see the difference between the framerates). And no, just because you have your console plugged into a 4K TV that does NOT mean you are playing games at 4K.

It’s not just for gaming.

You don’t have to just play games on a “gaming” computer, it does not matter if you are doing Word work or making a PowerPoint or even rendering videos, you can do it all. You can do everything and anything you want, all at the same time. If you have multiple monitors, you can be watching Netflix on one screen while doing work on another (Not really recommended though) and it will all be fine.

You can upgrade when YOU want to, not when Microsoft/Sony wants to.

The great thing about PC’s are that you can swap out older parts for newer ones whenever you choose to. This means that if you think that one of your parts are becoming outdated, just buy a newer version of said part and put it in, never has been simpler. This goes for repairs too, if a certain part is faulty, you only need to troubleshoot and find that part and replace it. The thing is with PC building is that it’s like Lego but for grown ups, and that parts can only go in specific areas. Another great thing is that you get to use any input device you want to enjoy your games, whether it’s an Xbox 1 controller, or a PS4, it can even be a old controller such as a Xbox 360 or a Wii controller. You choose what you want to use.

So in conclusion you should definitely get a gaming computer, you won’t regret it. It will improve your experience with the gaming world and YOU are in control.

Ta-da
