After, somewhat foolishly, I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro (64bit) from Windows 7 Pro this weekend. Everything turned out fine except now I am getting screen tears on most of my games (Witcher 3, XCom 2 etc). This wasn't a problem before I upgraded.
My specs are: i5 2500k, GTX 970, 16 GB RAM, OS on SSD, Asus VS247 Monitor (1080p/60Hz) and and old Samsung 720p as a secondary
I've tried everything I could find online including the following:
- Uninstalled my nVidia drivers in safe mode via DDU, stopped Windows from auto-installing drivers and installed the latest drivers from my GTX 970
- Uninstalled all the pre-installed Win 10 apps (including the awful Game Bar, XBox app and other crap)
- Windows Power plan is set to High Performance
- Removed all the transparency options for the desktop
- VSync mode is set to Adaptive in the nVidia Control Panel
- Tried fullscreen mode and borderless windowed mode (still have tearing)
- Tried in-game vsync (still some tearing)
- Windows Display and nVidia control display Hz options are both set 60
- Disabled the 2nd monitor
- Shadowplay is off.
- FPS capped at 60 FPS
Is there anything I'm missing? Screen tearing is killing my experience :( Please help!
