Hey all, I've been a long time elgato user, actually have had one since the first month they came out and never experienced this type of issue before. I tried searching all over the web and couldn't find a troubleshooting guide for exactly what I am seeing. What is occurring is I will have a good 40 min to an hour gameplay session going with commentary being recorded as well. After it ends and I attempt to export the video half of the video has no audio and worse off part of my live commentary is missing as well. Parts of the video where it looks like it lost audio has choppy video like it was corrupted at that point. Here are my specs and I know for sure it's not my hardware being under-powered:
- pc specs:
- windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
- Intel i7 4820k
- 16 GB of ram
- GTX 680 4GB
- elgato is recording on a 7200 rpm HDD (plenty of space)
- I used the elgato HD (regular version)
- Recording 720p gameplay from xbox 360 via HDMI in 30 fps
- Recording commentary with my yeti stereo mic
The ONLY thing I have done different in the past few days where corruption has begun is I started to do live commentary with my gameplay. I have it set in elgato so no files are output when I finish recording and I make the live commentary a separate audio track. My only guess is the live commentary is somehow being jacked as it records at random times and thus messing my video up as well. I'm gunna try doing another long session tomorrow and use an external program like audacity to record my commentary so elgato does not have to and see if the issue with my videos being corrupted happens anymore. If anyone has had similar issues or knows a fix please let me know. Losing so much stuff is a big bummer and waste of time.
