Good player to cast to my Xbox One and other devices?

I've just tried casting to my Xbox One and Android media player and had pretty shitty results using my SP3. I had a bunch of stuttering in a 1gb 1080p file and got even more stability problems with a 1gb 720p file.

I know it's not my network (solid AC 1750 router, currently on the 5Ghz network) since I can download the same file to my phone and use Bubble UPnP with flawless results no matter what file or player on my network.

Is it just that the built windows stuff sucks? Is there something better?

I know about plex but I don't have my media library indexed over my network.
