A couple of questions...

I have an Onkyo AVR ( RZ-720) connected to Apple TV 4K / Nvidia Shield TV PRO / PS4 PRO / Xbox One X and a PC.

If i play the Atmos demo on PC my AVR shows the Atmos logo.

Also the XB1X shows the Atmos logo all the time.

Now all i;m trying to do is cast say from my iPhone to Apple TV or Shield TV 5.1 or even Atmos content from Youtube but i only get Stereo...

My HDMI cables are the right ones, and lets say if we'll troubleshoot one by one, the Nvidia Shield Pro shows in HDMI -> ABOUT that it shows HDCP 2.2 / Surround set to Auto / Stereo Upmix is off / Audio modes PCM 16bit, DD, DD+, DTS...

However if i try to cast for example this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKbFeAvkiOM

It should show 5.1...right? it only shows Stereo,...why is that?

Maybe if we can fix this, Atmos will be fixed too...with Atmos content...but same goes with Apple TV...same above youtube link...will only play as Stereo.

My Xbox 360 Is In 1280×720 (I'm not sure this belongs here but...)

I really have no tech experience. I left it out next to my window one day, and it rained. It didn't get that wet but the first like 3 times I tried to turn it on it shut off. But then lo and behold I turn it on its 1280×720!

Factually deciding which Console is better for Gamers. PS4 vs XBOX ONE.

Since i think this "War" is stupid, im creating this Post to factually decide which Console has more advantages over the other. Facts can't be denied. Don't forget that People.

Since im bond to Facts, i can't describe every Plus/Minus thing there is. However i will add my Experience and opinion in the end of the Post for the People that are interested.

Every Source of anything i say are listed down below in the Post.

Since most Gamers have the old Models in their possession, i will only talk about them, and not about the PS4 Slim/XBOX ONE S or XBOX ONE X/PS4 Pro.

1.Price

I wouldn´t recommend buying the old Models new, since they are overpiced and you might also get the newer Models for the same Price at this Point. So i will go with the used Market, it totally depends on where you live. In some Countries XBOX ONE is gonna be cheaper, in some it´s the PS4. So there isn´t a Winner here.

WINNER: TIE

2.Sales

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 88,898,864

Xbox One Total Sales: 41,797,263

WINNER PS4

3.Hardware

Keep in mind that these two Consoles are just small Pc´s. So i will treat them as such.

CPU: Microsoft and Sony both opted for a semi-custom AMD APU — a 28nm part fabricated by TSMC that features an eight-core Jaguar CPU. The PS4 and Xbox One CPUs are virtually identical, except the Xbox One is clocked at 1.75GHz, while the PS4 is at 1.6GHz.

GPU: The Xbox One GPU has 12 compute units (768 shader processors), while the PS4 has 18 compute units (1,152 shaders). The PS4’s GPU is — on paper — 50 percent more powerful than the Xbox One.

RAM: While both consoles are outfitted with 8GB of RAM, the PS4 opts for 5500MHz GDDR5 RAM, while the Xbox One uses the more PC-like 2133MHz DDR3 RAM. This leads to a massive bandwidth advantage in favor of the PS4. The PS4’s CPU and GPU have 176GB/s of bandwidth to system RAM, while the Xbox One has just 68.3GB/s.

Storage: Both the Xbox One and PS4 have 500GB internal hard disks and Blu-ray optical drives, and you can get 1TB drives for each one as options. The Xbox One’s 1TB drive is actually a hybrid, with a solid state portion in addition to a spinning disk in order to improve access speeds. On Paper it´s alot faster. However Real-world tests show that there is almost no difference between these two.

Overall Games on the PS4 have considerably more graphics power and RAM Bandwidth available, and that shows up in real-world comparisons. Games on PS4 are usually a bit smoother and more attractive.

WINNER: PS4

4.Exclusives

Now people might argue that this point isn't factual and therefor shouldn't be on this List. However i will use Metacritic to see how many Exclusives there are on both sides, and how good they did in terms of Critics and Fanbase Votes. Im only using RETAIL Games as comparison. Since looking at every single Exclusive would be taking way to long, (atleast on PS4´s side) im gonna use the 5 most known Exclusives/Exclusive Series on both sides. By pure Exclusive Count, PS4 Wins with having 78 RETAIL Exklusives, and XBOX ONE only having 6. In terms of the 5 most known Exclusives for XBOX, i found it hard to find the "5 most known" since XBOX ONE only has 2 "known" Exclusives that are made purely for the XBOX ONE (which means that Games like Gears of War will NOT be on this list). 1. The Halo Series 2. The Forza Series. As representative i will take the latest releases of these Series. If we look at Metacritic, 1. Halo 5 Guardians has a Metascore of 84 and a User score of 6.4. 2. Forza Motorsport 5 has a Metascore of 79 and a User score of 6.0. In terms of the 5 most known Exklusives for PS4, i found it hard to keep it down to only 5, since there is a huge amount of great Exclusives for PS4. I took the 5 Exclusives of what i would say are the most known for the average Gamer. 1. The Uncharted Series. 2. God of War 3. Horizon Zero Dawn 4. Bloodborne 5. Marvel’s Spider-Man. As representative i will take the latest releases of these Serieses (if there is a Series) 1. God of war has a Metascore of 94 and a User score of 9.1 2. Bloodborne has a Metacritics score of 93 and a User score of 8.9 3. Uncharted 4 has a Metascore of 93 and a User score of 8.4 4.Horizon Zero Dawn has a Metascore of 89 and a User score of 8.4 5. Marvels Spider Man has a Metascore of 87 and a User score of 8.6. Not only does PS4 have a bunch more of Exklusives, even the most known PS4 Exklusives did a lot better by Metascore and User score in comparison to XBOX ONE´s most known Exklusives. Even adding Gears of War 4 wouldn´t change that. Overall PS4 Exclusives are better rated by Critics and more attractive to the average User.

WINNER: PS4

5.Backwards Compatibility

PS4 completly fails here since it doesn´t have any backwards Compatibility. It does have Playstation Now, but more about that in the next Point. XBOX ONE has more than 400 Xbox 360 games that are currently playable on XBOX ONE. XBOX ONE easily takes the Crown here.

WINNER: XBOX ONE

6.Services

Both Consoles own their own Game Service. Playstation Now and XBOX Game Pass is what they are called. PS4´s PlayStation Now allows you to stream hundreds of last-gen titles (and a few PS4 games) from the cloud for $20/£12.99 a month. As of Sept. 2018, you can also download PS2 and PS4 titles from the service directly. Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass grants access to over 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games that you can download for $10 (£7/AU$10) a month.

These are both great Services.

WINNER: TIE

7.Controller

The DualShock 4 feels like more of a change. It´s a full redesign of the DS3. Microsoft has stuck with what worked so well in the Xbox 360 controller, and as such the XBOX ONE Controller is more of a tweak than a full redesign in comparison to the DS4.

Both Controllers are great. However, the DS4 Controller has build in Batteries which can easily be charged. The XBOX ONE Controller still requires a pair of AA batteries as standard. However you can buy the Play and Charge kit separately for the XBOX ONE Controller.

Both Controllers feel great and are a good Quality Product. I don´t think that XBOX ONE using AA Batteries is that bad. If you always have enough Batteries in your House, changing them out for 20 second and being able to play the full time again is great, in comparision you are stuck with a Charging Cable with the DS4 and can´t use Bluetooth if the Batteries are empty. it seems like some People rather have the AA Method, and some the charging method. So to summon this up, no Controller is really better then another, it´s pure taste.

WINNER: TIE

8.Operation System/OS

It´s alot easier to get used to the PS4 OS since it´s really easy to understand and Navigate through. The XBOX ONE´s OS on the other hand has alot of stuff including unessecary things on the Frontpage. There is also extra TV Features and such, making the XBOX ONE less of a "Pure Gaming Console". This is pure taste again, however it´s easier to understand and navigate through the PS4´s OS for new Users.

WINNER: PS4

9.Extra Features

PS4 and XBOX ONE both have similiar motion Cameras. XBOX ONE has Kinect and PS4 has Playstation Eye. Though both are complete shit. PS4 has Playstation VR. XBOX ONE currently doesn´t have VR. You can watch TV on XBOX ONE which you can´t on PS4. Howver PS4 is meant to be a pure Gaming Console, not like XBOX ONE. And there won´t be many people watching TV on XBOX ONE. So i don´t think this Feature is that great.

Overall PS4 wins this Point because of VR actually being a good Feature with some great Games already.

WINNER: PS4

10.Results

PS4: 5 Points

XBOX ONE: 1 Point

TIE: 4 Points (LUL)

To summon this up, the PS4 is factually the better Console for pure Gamers.

Experiences and opinions by myself:

I personally have a XBOX ONE, a PS4 and a PC. I don´t think that this War is any good, and it´s completly unessecary. I think that all Gamers should stay together, If PC, XBOX, Switch, we are all Gamers afterall. We should rather go against Crossplay ban´s by Microsoft, Sony and Companys like Epic Games. Both Consoles are valid options, and i think the only reason to get a specific Console, is because your Friends use it too/already.

Competitive Xbox Settings

Hi all, firstly any advice at all is appreciated.

I am an older gamer, playing fornite(don't hate me) competitively. I have no desire of playing in the world cup but I am close enough to the level to qualify.

I am looking for optimal settings to run the game as smooth as possible. For anyone who hasn't played, basically the competitive side consists of a lot of people alive as the map gets smaller and more builds in game causing fps to drop from 50-60 to 10-20 which is unplayable and a huge disadvantage.

I have googled and read forums/posts about optimal settings as much as I can stand, ads and videos about quality rather than performance is mostly what is available. Id rather have bare minimum graphic settings and a smoother gameplay experience.

Here are my settings;

Monitor - Samsung 24" LS24D330HSX Game mode turned on Response time - fastest HDMI Black Level - Normal (should it be set to low?)

Xbox one S Video output on console, 720p(read 720 will allow better frames end game than 1080), 60hz Video modes settings - Allow 50Hz ticked, Allow YCC 4:2:2 ticked Video fidelity & overscan - HDMI, colour depth 24bits per pixel(8-bit), colour space standard

Internet - 150mb down and 150mb up, soon to be 500+ down

Also have capture settings turned off as I watched a video relating to this and slowing down console performance.

Thanks for reading

Xbox one optimal settings for end game

Obviously we all know the rants about shadows etc

With our current situation, any recommendations on how to optimise end game? As a competitive player by nature I can't face pubs so I am stuck with champ solos anytime I want to play and late game is unbearable.

I have googled and read forums/posts about optimal settings as much as I can stand, ads and videos about quality rather than performance is mostly what is available. Id rather have bare minimum graphic settings and a smoother gameplay experience.

Any tech savy advice much appreciated!

Edit : To give you an example, from even the first zone, if i build I can literally see the pieces of each wall, floor, ramp etc coming together to build the structure, its almost slow motion at times. If I make it to 4th or moving zones I can't edit or replace, if I edit and go for a pump or spray the delay from the edit to weapon is that long I have a major disadvantage. Cant do damage on rotation because I can barely build to protect myself. My only chance of placement consistency is to get a good baller drop or have double rift or launchpads. Even with launchpads it takes that long to place endgame you can get bopped.

Thanks to anyone who read all of this, not looking to complain just for some advice for all console players trying to compete. I have no interested in buying or building a PC purely for fortnite, World cup is not on my agenda.
