Dug my Xbox out of some moving boxes after it's been sitting there for a few years. TSOP v1.1 with the clock cap delete, SATA HDD with a startech and 80 wire cable. Xbox was bought non-working but it was just a single 120V connector pin that somehow unsoldered. Bios is Xecutor but unsure of version right now. Pound adapter is running off of USB power. TV is set to Game Mode which I've heard is better for the Pound adapter.
Essentially what is happening is after loading up XBMC v3.5.3, I'll load up a game like Halo 2 or COD 3 and will see some weird jagged line at the top 20% of the screen. Anything above that line will be slightly delayed from what is below the line. There are a bunch of things that could be tested but right now I can't find my composite video cable and don't think I own a TV with composite input so I'm stuck using the Pound adapter for now. When I turned off 1080 and 720 in XBMC and ran Amped 2, I noticed no tearing but didn't test Halo 2 again (I'll test more tonight). I don't see any tearing in XBMC regardless of video settings but I think that's just due to the menu system being pretty static above that 20% line on the screen so it's not obvious if it's tearing.
Is this an HDMI adapter problem? Is this a PSU cap problem? Motherboard cap problem? Other issue? Looking at reviews, it seems like the Pound adapter isn't as highly reviewed as it was when I bought it when it came out so I'm leaning towards that being broken but don't want to start throwing money at this until I'm sure. I've worked with building VGA interfaces on FPGAs in the past and it reminds me of an incorrect pixel clock or some video buffer problem. Also the fact that I bought this Xbox with strange damage to a power connector pin suggests that maybe it received a power surge that could have done further damage. There were no problems with this Xbox when I last used it so it's certainly possible a cap went bad while stored.
I'll attach a photo tonight if I can replicate it.
