After gaming on consoles for almost my entire life so far, I'm finally planning to build a PC. Something not too expensive (around 600 USD tops) that I could use also for my job (Java programmer here).
A friend of mine helped me suggesting a few components but I'm not sure if this would be a good build. Here's what I have in mind:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Micro ATX B550M DS3H AC Rev. 1.0
- RAM: XPG Spectrix D50 (16 GB DDR4 at 3200 MHz, two modules for a total of 32 GB)
- PSU: Gigabyte P650B 80 PLUS Bronze (650W)
- SSD: XPG SPECTRIX S20G (1 TB PCI Express 3.0, M.2)
- GPU: No GPU yet, I'll leave this for later when my budget allows it :'(
I just plan to play some old games, like Company of Heroes 1, 2. The Age of Empires games, Rise of Nations, some zombie survival mod for GTA V, maybe The Sons of the Forest, Project Zomboid, Black Mesa (things like these games that aren't available on console) and some old console emulation (PS2, OG Xbox, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, etc) on low resolutions like 720 or 1080p since I will not have a decent GPU for the time being.
What do you think? I'm limited to spending max 600 USD.
Another question I have and forgive me if it's dumb: Should I install Windows 10 or Windows 11? Is there something game changing like when there was a jump from DirectX 9 to Direct X 10? I've been out of the loop for quite some time. I've been using Debian on an old Dell workstation since I was in highschool and I'm 30 years old now.
Thanks!
