I thought the Xbox's were supposed to super-sample into a sharper, less jaggied image and it's looking like that's not the case here. I have tried a Series S and X on a 720p (768p) TV that downscales 1080p content. I tried both 1080 and 720 resolutions just to get a lot of pixelation on graphics. I then tried a FHD Monitor and got the same results. It looks to me this "super-sampling) is just an over sharpening filter because as soon as I put it on a 4K display the over sharpness goes away but if I knock it down to 1080p on a 4K the over sharpness comes back. That makes zero sense to me.
Look, I love my Xbox's. I just want the best image clarity with what I have to work with here.
TL;DR: Xbox series consoles look bad at lower resolutions no matter the display I have it on.
