At first, admittedly, I tried to run before I walked, using cheat engine and/or trainers to replace models (specifically swapping out Helena for Ashley), change the camera view so it was over-the-shoulder and not on the fcking ground looking up at their asses, etc.
But I got nothing but crashing and errors. I assumed it was my mods/cheats/etc. responsible for this, so I wiped everything and did it fresh. No mods, no cheats, nothing.
Still fails. - Doesn’t let me alt-tab out without a fight, - screen tears with no hope for vsync to actually work whether it’s internal or external, - Lowering all settings from 4K 60 down to 720 30 and everything on low until it looks awful yet still has the same problems as before. - Stuttering stuttereering stuttettering every time I move more than 5 feet in any direction. - Gravity pulling me towards walls instead of the floor - God knows what else I can’t even remember because of these game breaking mechanics
I thought “maybe it’s me” but after a fresh install of everything including the operating system, I ended up trying it on both my 3080/i9 combo and my 1165g7 bedroom TV’s PC and run into the exact same problems.
So I try emulating it and get pretty good results on both the PS3 version and Xbox 360 version, but not worth it enough to be any better than the piss-poor PC port they released...
...then I tried the Nintendo Switch release.
- It looks great
- Doesn’t have limitations of the lesser-hardware when played on PC
- It has more content than the original console releases, same as the current PC release
- There is no stuttuttering
- Can be unlocked in terms of framerate
- Yuzu works well with CheatEngine
- Gravity doesn’t fck up on PC like it did preventing me from finishing Ada’s campaign
- Can swap saves without needing an “unlocker” so I was able to recover my progress and skills achievements without having to replay Sherry’s campaign or Ada’s campaign (though I might redo her last bit as I didn’t get to legitimately defeat the boss without a trainer due to the aforementioned gravity problems.
Before wasting money on this broken garbage on Steam, do a quick search for things like “RE6 stutter” or “RE6 vsync” or even just “not working”. I’m sure there’s some ninja like solutions that may fix it, but why should we have to fix their problems in the first place?
They spend all their time making “remakes” of perfectly good games, but can’t even fix their firstmake of this game? Don’t “remake” RE6, just finish making it in the first place!
I usually buy all my RE games, but this is one I’m not only jacksparrowing the emulated version of, I’m trying to get a refund from Steam for the initial, broken purchase.
