In fact, that is not so. The TV has a host of spyware that requires you to relinquish your viewing habits and whatever other information to them. What is done with that information is vague at best. I turned off the internet to TV so I cannot use any of the included applications like Netflix and such. I have a ROKU so not too much of an inconvenience. Still you pay a premium price for a TV expect to use it to its fullest capabilities without concern as to what information is being uploaded to LG. There is also some compatibility issue between the TV and a Sony 4K DVD player attached. Sometime it works and sometimes it doesn’t. It has the worst true black performance I have ever seen.
The smart tv apps are responsive and work well.
I've had to turn off nearly every "feature" advertised on the box in order to make the tv even usable.
I contacted LG Support and they base everything off of the included Picture Test which conveniently is all bright colors and saw no issues with the attached photo.
Do yourself a favor and look up LG TV reviews on youtube before you buy. Even their $1600 dollar TVs are getting outperformed by $400 TVs. My 6 year old Phillips 1080p TV performs much better than this tv in dark room settings and has far less backlight bleed around the edges. I have Xbox one connected and have not seen the dcreen go black like it does on regular programing from the 📺 I called customer service to have a technician come see whats wrong with the tv and the appt was set for 8/28 and no technician showed up. Not even a call or a follow up. Also customer service is not in the states its in another country so get ready to be on hold for awhile. 4UHD really looks lot like reagular HD the tv does not adjust on its own so you will find yourself changing the picture mode the same as the volume. Also you will see the screen get darker in one side while the other stays bright. I dont know if this is normal since finding information for this 2020 th was not easy to find. You get a boost speaker when you purchase this 📺 its a small wifi speaker that you can connect to your phone of other Wi-Fi electronic. You can connect to tv but its to small to give a high volume selection. 9/30/20 Update had to call customer service on 9/29/20 to get a tech to come see what the problem couls be. I had to send a video and I haven't heard from them yet! I will update when I get a call or a tech to come out to see what is the problem. Update 10/08/20 Tech came to see what was wring with the tv. He told me that when viewing lg channels when there is a weak signal the screen will go black. Its only when the screen goes black with no sound will be an issue with a value. The picture resolution is excellent but kind of dark. I wish I could turn up the brightness more. I also have an LG 65" OLED, which is twice the price but well worth it. I guess I'm spoiled by LG OLED picture quality which is better than any other tv out there. The sound quality isn't very good so I think I need to buy a sound bar. Overall if you want the latest and highest performance smart TV apps and don't need OLED picture brightness, this TV is good. This TV is surprisingly light, very thin, and the sound is actually decent... For a LCD TV. I do suggest getting a sound bar at the very least if this is going to be your "main" TV... Some apps and or channels can be louder/quieter which is annoying but with a sound bar or surround sound set up that basically goes away. The picture options are great, crisp colors, sharp lines, this TV is better than plasma back in the day lol. The price is well worth it for what you are getting.
