Play it now, or get a new console first? Possible Next Gen upgrade? Crafting? And tweaking the UI?

Hey guys, I've had RDR in my inventory for ages, and have fired it up and played a few hours, but had to step away for a while. I started it on my Xbox One S, and honestly... it's fine. I know I'm missing out... I know. But... in the moment, I just appreciate the story, and the world is still incredible to me. Even if it's there, I'm not noticing pop in, or low res, or poor textures, or choppy frame rates.

But... I'll upgrade eventually (soon I hope), and if this turns out to be anything like the original in my mind, it will be an all-time favourite. Maybe that demands next Gen? Does the upgrade improve the experience and visuals much?

And side question... I haven't been paying attention. Could there be a next gen upgrade announced, similar to how GTAV got one?

As for the Game itself... I like it, but I'm finding the early stages a little bit of a slow burn? I'm in the beginning stages of playing overall, but I haven't really gotten the hang of what I need to craft to do what, and when. It's far more complex than the original in it's systems. Do you reckon it will click, and I'll end up loving that side of it?

To be clear... I get how crafting is fun. How part of being a "cowboy" is finding the right combination of items to make a remedy or whatever it is. It gives me a reason to visit certain parts of the map or to just explore, and in doing so, random things happen and I'll enjoy the distraction far more than if I just powered through missions. But... it's a LOT of crafting compared to other games that I love - (Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a level of crafting that I am used to) .

Also, just with my current setup, I find myself sitting a little further from my 55" 4K TV than ideal, so some of the UI elements are small for me and my kinda shit eyes, so... I have to lean forward to read what I should be doing to craft or whatever - which I think is part of why I'm not sure about the game. There's a lot of reading to do. Is there a menu setting to make the UI a bit bigger? (Keep in mind that I'm on a 4K TV, but playing at 720-1080P I assume).
