I like playing older games and I've run into a potential issue and I'm hoping someone more technically minded could help.
My set up is a PS2, an Original Xbox, the old Elgato HD (with the analogue and digital inputs) and a cheap Gana upscaler.
I'm from the UK, so a lot of games are forced onto 50hz in the PAL region, but many allow you to change to 60hz. When I run games through the upscaler I go for 720p 60fps because I figured for the older games 720 to 1080 doesn't make too much difference and my old Elgato can only do 30fps at 1080p.
Now does changing the game to 60hz at the start up matter if it's going through the upscaler anyway? I always change it anyway because I figured if 60hz goes in it would make a cleaner recording for 60fps coming out. That may be totally wrong but it makes sense in my uneducated head. Does 60hz in even mean 60fps out?
I've since discovered that some PAL Xbox games offer 60hz that the PS2 version does not and perhaps there are some vice versa. My question is, does this matter if it gets upscaled to 60fps through the Elgato? Are my recordings even truly 60fps anyway? I look at the details tab on properties for the recording on my PC and it says 60fps so I assume it is.
As I said I don't really know what I'm doing and I would be forever grateful if someone who knows more could help me out!
