Decided to start streaming and looking for tips on equipment purchases (:

Hello everyone!

I decided to bite the bullet and I think I’m going to try streaming full time. Typically, I’d only stream for just a few friends and they’d watch me, but that was the extent of it. I’d like to explore it further, and develop a community of friends to come and watch and hang out together.

With that being said, I definitely need to invest in a few things, and any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I will be streaming from Xbox

1. Elgato HD60 S or S+? I play in 4K, but do not need to stream in 4K. Will the original HD60 S allow me to still play in 4K and only render it in 1080P to my streaming software? Or will I need the S+ to still play in 4K?

2. Microphone suggestions? I don’t really want a huge beast of a mic that covers my entire face, but also would like something that eliminates any background noise or keyboard clicks (if possible)

3. Light/Ring light suggestions?

4. Which stream software? I’m familiar with both OBS and Lightstream, but would like to use something that’s easy to use and has the ability to quickly switch between intermission screens and active gameplay screens. I don’t need a ton of fancy features yet.

5. The thing that allows me to press a button to quickly switch between said screens, mute my mic, etc? I’m not sure what it’s called.

6. Camera suggestions? 720 or 1080P preferred for now.

I think that’s all I need, unless if I’m forgetting something that you all can think of (: I don’t really want to break the bank, I’d like to stay budget friendly, within $500, until I figure out if this will be worth it in the long run. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, so I have high hopes to make something of this!
