Hi Guys,
Thought I would share this because I know one of the biggest conversations at the moment is lack of generic usb audio support on the Xbox series S/X. There are many of us that dac/amps G6 Shiit Fula etc who would like to use there custom dac amp of choice to then have the ability to use whatever headphones you want not that you can made to wear currently.
After a lot of research I opted to purchase a hdmi audio extractor. This one claims it does upto 4K 60fps however there’s no mention of 1440p/120fps.
However after receiving the product, setting up and testing it I can confirm it will extract visual of 1440p/120fps it seems with VRR freesync on gaming monitors too. This is also another thing that was mentioned that you could lose by using certain extractors.
So there are 3 extraction configurations on the back. Passthrough/2.1 CH/5.1CH. After testing I found that if you have it set in either 2.1 or 5.1 option you will only be able to use 720/1080p and 4K 60fps.
However if you keep it in passthrough 1440p/120fps it’s a go! You would assume that the downside then is the audio won’t extract in either 2.1 or 5.1 but rather select surround sound on Xbox if you use the g6 software and select 5.1/7.1 to your headphones I can’t seem to find any change in the audio quality.
This is the one I’ve got. Please share your thoughts. Thanks
