So I've been streaming for a bit now. I stream Xbox games using my Aver Media Ultra Live. My PC setup is a Ryzen 2200g, RX580 8gb and 16gb(2x8) DDR4 3200 mhz. I have no issues running 720/60fps or 1080/30fps when streaming Xbox gameplay. However I do have an issue streaming PC gameplay. My PC seems to not be able to handle Splitgate, Tarkov, CS:Go, Valorant, etc. Changing the settings normally doesn't improve too much performance wise. My issue is I can prioritize the stream or the game but never both. If my stream runs fine the game runs bad. If the game runs good, the stream can't keep up.
I just figured It was impossible until I started messing around with Discord Go Live. I can stream and get damn near perfect, lossless quality and not sacrifice game performance. I immediately thought it was my overlays so I tried turning them off when streaming to Mixer. Nope. No Bueno. Last night, I had this brilliant idea (on accident) to pull up OBS, project the preview full screen, and stream it on discord...1080/60fps. Quality was perfect.
So what I want to ask is, WHAT does Discord do to give me the ability to stream that quality, yet am unable to do hitting "start" on OBS and sending to mixer. What does Discord do better than OBS in the uploading stream department. I'm so condomfused.
