The $600 a week for unemployed people was the right decision at the time but we have failed massively not adjusting it by now

I live in a small town with low cost of living in the Midwest renting a house with a buddy that is $700 a month so I only pay $350 plus half of utilities. I think before this we were both making around $720-$800 a paycheck or something like that, coronavirus comes around he gets laid off and unemployment from a pizza joint and now he is making like $900 a week for the past few months almost. Imo opinion the massive amount of tax payer money going to people like my roommate (and they are plenty) should have been fixed by now depending on what you were making before. My roommate has no intentions of looking for a new job even though they are hiring. While I left my old manufacturing job and started a new one within a week that I have to bust ass in 100 degree conditions to make half as much as my buddy makes sitting at home drinking beer playing Xbox all day.
