So, I’ll start with stating that this post isn’t meant to be a PC vs. Console thing. I’m curious to know how many people are playing on an original/S version Xbox One, and if your game runs as poorly as mine.
I’m primarily a PC gamer, but when it became clear that Sega was going to leave PC people twisting in the wind, I purchased a used Xbox just to play this game. It’s an early 1TB model. As far as I can tell, the Xbox One S should perform the same.
I installed a few game demos before PSO2 was released and was pleasantly surprised that they looked and played fine. The same games would obviously look better on a high-end gaming PC, but I was honestly impressed with what they pulled off with such limited hardware.
Then I started playing PSO2. I don’t understand why people aren’t complaining about this. It’s just bad.
For those who have only played on PC or a One X, here is a comparison I made between base Xbox and PC.

With the PC version, everything is super crisp, super smooth 75-120 PFS, loads very quickly, and doesn't tank when opening menus.
The Xbox version is 720p at best, 30 FPS at best, very slow loading, and experiences frame drops, screen tearing, and just outright freezing for 10+ seconds. It does much better in missions, but it’s still only 720p 30 FPS, and the draw distance is so low, and I can’t see other people unless I’m really close to them.
(Note: when I say 720p, I mean the 3D parts are being rendered at 720 and then blown up to fill out the screen. The menus are clear, and the Xbox is outputting a 1080p signal to the monitor.)
Also, it's not an internet problem. Both my PC and the Xbox are hard wired directly to the modem.
The game just doesn’t look good enough to perform this poorly. This game ran on Intel GPUs in laptops back in 2013. It runs on handheld gaming systems.
I'm not asking for 1440P or 4K 120 FPS here, but on how much better other Xbox One games look, I don't understand how this doesn't easily run at 1080p 30FPS minimum.
Is it just my system, or is the port really this poorly tuned on the lower end Xbox?
